New Avi Arad Interview

DogW29??? Sheesh....

Regarding FF2, theere was nothing really earth-shattering. He confirms Silver Surfer but refuses to confirm any appearance of Galactus. As in the comics, Surfer will be "The same kind of philosophical character, commenting on our world". Apparently, they're plugging for the same tone as the first film, and he said that "The interaction between the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer is at the heart of the movie and it should be amazing."

Like I said before, most of his comments were non-specific waffle about how good each comic book property was, and how excited he is for each film. Nothing you haven't read a thousand times before.

R.
Thanks Rob:)

^ Tim Story and the chick playing Alicia Masters already confirmed Galactus anyways so that's cool.

Yes Marvel is doing Incredible Hulk. My point was the previous poster made a statement about Marvel's past performance in issuing press releases or news. Those films were with other studios outside of Marvel's full control and it was THOSE studios that had the first right to deliver the news.

If you contact Marvel that's exactly what they will tell you.
so this time its Marvel who will be doing the press stuff and we should expect something on the 12th?

^ Sava I'm lost right now about the...12th? Marvel will issue a press release on Iron Man & The Hulk partnered with the distributor when the timing is right. We'll hopefully hear something on the 22nd at the Marvel Panel. Not the 12th.

Marvel said 35 days ago that they would announce who will be the next director in 40days.

^ I read that article but that wasn't a quote from Avi in the portion I saw. I tried opening the full article but it wasn't there. He's said many times before we should no more in "2 week" or "30 days", etc... When the press release does come out for The Hulk Marvel should be doing the release with Uni.

My guess is they're saving it for the San Diego Comic-Con which is around the corner. He was probably guessing how many days it was before that and estimated wrong. 5 days from now makes no sense. Do it at the comic-con. Marvel panel is Saturday so we'll see. Or I'll see. :)

Directors I'd be happy with:

John McTiernan (I'd prefer him for Wolvie but he'd be great.)
David Dobkin
Ratner...yes I'd be happy with Ratner
Michael Bay...I think he's perfect for a more fun heroic type of film like this as compared to the original hulk.
Rob Bowman...yes I'm kidding about that one.
MSJ...GR looks great so far but I wanna see Ghost Rider first.
Alex Proyas...yes.
Richard Donner...hell yes.

AICN on the news you guys found, I forward to Moviehole so Harry & co could see it. Jeez:

NEWS

The three or four of us who thought Ang Lee's HULK was brilliant (we had purple pants made up for meetings) have been listening with varying degrees of concern and anticipation to the talk about which direction the sequel will take. The popular theory was that they were going to start from scratch, ignoring the first film as well as SUPERMAN III and IV (apparently everyone's doing it now). Now, according to Moviehole and Superhero Hype Boards, Avi Arad has told SFX Magazine that Bana isn't necessarily out, as we all thought he might be. Sure, Bana hasn't heard a word out of the production despite the contract clause requiring him to return for the sequel if the right strings are pulled, but it's not a definite denial. So, hot off the presses: producers haven't ruled out considering Eric Bana for a role in HULK 2! And to think people told me I wouldn't be able to find anything to write about this week... pfft!

They shouldnt have ever ruled him out, i would love him to be in this.

Hey Retro, any luck finding a scan of this interview? Still looking? :)

I thought Avi left Marvel, why is he still involved in these movies and why do we still have to hear from him?

I still kinda think Avi meant we aren't going to get a different or new take on things the previous films did...(new take on the origin story,re-use villains etc...) like an updated version of old material....

...I don't think he meant that this takes place during Spidey 1 & 2, or 2 & 3, which it appears some think he meant.........but we can all interpret it how we want, thats what makes discussions fun...so...

I think my understanding is that he still has a producing stake in the movies since he helped set up many of the projects up with the studios. So maybe its in his deal that he remains a producer on the franchises for like forever.
