Avi Arad on Spidey 3, FF2 and the Hulk Sequel
Source: Kevin Roegele May 26, 2006

'Kevin Roegele' tells Superhero Hype! that Marvel Studios' Avi Arad revealed some new bits to Empire magazine:

Avi Arad talks about future Marvel movies in the latest issue of Empire magazine. The article confirms not only that Galactus and the Silver Surfer are odds on to appear in FF2, but that the Hulk sequel in 2008 will be titled The Incredible Hulk.
Here is everything he says:

Spider-Man 3

"This is definetly a '3' in terms of scale. Movie one was origin, movie two was, 'I cannot do it anymore,' and movie three is, 'I'm powerful, what does that do to me?"

Regarding Venom: "I don't know about Venom, I know about Topher Grace!....The black suit is a metaphor for Spidey's mental state. In Spider-Man 2 we wanted him to put the suit back on; here we'll want him to take it off. He cannot be the Peter we want him to be unless he takes the suit off...."

Fantastic Four 2

"It's a couple of years later and we get to see what their life is like. What else is there for them to accomplish, what issues are in their lives, where's Doom?"

Regarding Galactus: "They'll be some pretty big surprises. What we're trying to do is not to show him, but to show someone else, initially."

Hulk 2 aka The Incredible Hulk

"It's still a study in anger. It's more a love story between Bruce and Betty. It has the feel of The Fugitive, and Bruce is on a mission to get rid of the Hulk. When you see the Abomination, you'll see something really special.

2008, eh?

(Hopes and prays.)

I hope this is the one that lives up to my expections this time. I just wanna see Hulk and Abomination killing each other and destroying everything in site doing it. Oh and story too. :)

Naming a movie "The Incredible Hulk" is something that sounds undescribably awesome to comic book fans, but most people may be turned off by it.

That's why Spider-Man 2 wasn't called "The Amazing Spider-Man."

The only thing that worrys me about this is Arad claiming it will be more focused on Bruce and Bettys love story.
Like we care, I just wanna see Abomination and Hulk go at it.
And smash lots of buildings up, here's hoping that it is more faithfull to the source. I also hope it does not refer to the 03 film in anyway and also does not have Bana or Jen Connolly.

Why the hell not? The orgin of the Hulk dealt with Bruce and Betty's relationship BEFORE, and after he became the Hulk- which the first movie handled. Although the movie's orgin was different from the comic, the essence of the story was there- Bruce being unable to show his true affections for the woman he loves, and his struggles to cope with becoming a raging monster. Regardless of all of the Hulk's & Banner's adventures, Betty has remained the centerpiece of their emotional psyche. Despite your opinion on Bana and Connolly performance, i thought they brought depth to their characters. I hope that they both come back for the second film, and if they couldn't get Connolly- at least bring back Bana. I can't see anyone else playing the part of Banner.

I personally, would have prefered "The Amazing Spider-Man" over "Spider-Man 2" ANY day! I mean, he IS amazing- right? Just like the Hulk- he IS incredible!

I agree. Those are great titles. But people who don't read comics might think those titles are too silly.

The TV show was called "The Incredible Hulk," and it did just fine.

It was also pretty damn campy. All I'm saying is that most of the people I've talked to who don't read comics think "The Amazing Spider-Man" is a dumb name for a movie.

The more I think about it, though, the Hulk is usually called the Incredible Hulk, so this case might be a little different.

"The Increadible Hulk" is a great title, because it won't alienate people who didn't see or didn't like the first one.

"Hulk 2" would only be a good idea if the first movie was a huge success that people are anxious to see more of. That's not really the case, though I personally like it.

Make the new movie a sequel that works both as a stand-alone or a continuation.

I like it. It;s what the first one should've been called.

What we should be more worried about is what Marvel and Zak Penn are intending for the sequel than what it will be called.
That said, i'd prefer Hulk 2. :p Continuity for the win!

Just read the article.

Don't you hate it when this guy knows everything and we don't know crap?

interesting.. hopefully theyll get more of a ratio right this time.

means more of the things right this time...i think

What do you mean?

lol i was tired when i wrote that. I mean hopefuly theyll get the ratio of good stuff to bad better this time. imo Hulk was brilliant but made some very dumb decisions at the same time.

I don't want a ratio, I want it all to be good!

lol well no movies perfect.. the good just outweighs the bad usually... Ang lee has that potential... he just got too silly with Hulk imo.

The Incredible Hulk is a GREAT idea.
It doesnt sound like a sequel...People will see it and hopefully..(for those who hated it) forget The Hulk 2003 and if people like The Incredible Hulk there will be a sequel

I'm just worriede about Penn scripting this thing, i hope they get a driector on early so he can make necessary changes.

If they see it and like the sequel... doesn't that mean there's a sequel already?

I think The Incredible Hulk is a better name then Hulk2. Like people have already said, it makes people who hated the first to think it's not a sequal. I didn't really care for the first, but I like the comics, so I'd see it anyways, but some of my friend's who hated it that don't read comics would go see it if it was "The Incredible Hulk" instead of "hulk2". Plus sequals with numbers at the end are kinda bland.
