New Layout Feedback

Can we put page numbers at the top and just just bottom of each page? I hate having to scroll to the bottom to get to the next page

They’re there (top & bottom) on desktop and mobile landscape mode but not mobile portrait mode.

Social media links have been updated and a new non-binary option has been added under Gender with a new space for user Pronouns.

Letterboxd would be a cool addition.

Removed red background color of the text editor before you click it.

Added bold font for unread threads, changed font size of read threads, added "new" indicator (may not keep this we'll see)

I think it looks pretty good for a first pass give it a try if you hate the red (there's still some sorry :p )

@Lily Adler and anyone else (I think it should work)

Open this link and select SHH Stage theme.

It's a basic version of the color inversion.
This inversion looks really better to me.
It's easier on my eyes but personally, I'd still go for a slightly darker grey for the background....

For my two cents about the whole re-design: I know people work hard for two days to make the forum as clean and functional as possible, but I still get a general impression of... clumsiness?

Not so much reading the posts (which I think are now fine) but on the main pages listing the threads. Nothing againt minimalism but there's an impression of floating text, probably due to the too many different font sizes. I know it was already the case before, but things felt balanced better on the precedent layout. All this gives the forum a quite amateur/dated look to me...
I also think that priority should be given to fixing the navigation. If I'm not mistaken, we have to go to the main page every time we want to change sections, which is pretty annoying. I hope the top bar will make it possible to jump anywhere, like before.

A few secondary (and very secondary) observations:
- I think it would be nice to have bold text also on the main pages to see which sections/threads have unread posts, or at least something much more visible than the most subtle color change ever on speech bubbles.
- I like the little "New" indicator. It's true that it serves the exact same purpose than the bold text, but it also visually adds a bit of life, which I think is welcome (maybe have it on front page too?)
- Highlighted text when writing a post is hard to read regardless of the forum theme (black on blue/black on red). No need to fix it right away as I think it's nitpicking for now.
- I'm probably the only one to think so, but I find it much more logical/instinctive to have the page numbering on the left at the top of the page (as it is by default), but on the right at the bottom of the page. Again, this is pure nitpicking on my part.

Just a test...

I hadn't even gotten used to the previous design of the site. :deadpan:

Is anyone else finding the board laggy? I have, especially when typing.

It's better than it was just before the upgrade. Also thanks for the note about how to get rid of most of the bold red.

Wouldn't mind seeing a little more space between last line of a post and signature too. Keep reading into sig's thinking the post is on going. When I see sigs.

For a peek behind the curtain as it were: There's really not a lot of forethought into these designs. They pick a theme off the shelf, slap some colors on it, and call it good. When I say they I mean the PTBs, not any of the admins/mods around here. We're just volunteer post janitors.

I'm technically inclined but not a fan of graphical thingies (I'm happier at a cisco IOS CLI) so that puts us in a bit of a bind but I do what I can.

All the stuff like black on maroon unreadable text and such? Not really tested.

As for the general floatiness, that's just kinda Xenforo. Stock xenforo theme is mostly the same way.

Adjusted the toolbar and bumped up the Emoji and Image icon.
