New Live Action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie In The Works?

I'd love to see them as real life again and rather have a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. It would be so cool for nostalgia.

Don't go CGI. All animatronic, please. Give us another movie like the first three. Use costumes. What would be wrong with hiring the Jim Henson Creature Shop to make the costumes again, using actors in suits? Do that, and I'm fine.

I disagree on the CG. As advanced as animatronic and costumes have gotten, nothing will be able to give the freedom of movement and expression as CG work, whether added to costumes or full CG characters.

I say they go Where the Wild Things Are with it. Use body suits on actors/stuntmen, but use CG for the faces.

And as advanced as CGI has gotten, it still never looks quite right. Motions are often too fluid and interaction with people or objects looks fake. I think the suggestion of 'adding it to the costumes' is the best route to go - best of both worlds.

Word.

To each their own, man. That's my stance. It can look really ****** or look really good.

I'd also prefer a sequel but the powers that be have decided on a reboot . I guess it makes sense considering they wouldn't be teenagers anymore , Casey Jones and April O Neil might be retired .

There has to be some element of CGI in this film. I'd rather they blend the two technologies and these costumes don't look too different from the originals .

The problem with CGI is that it's developing so fast that in a years' time, it already looks outdated and obsolete. Look at Watchmen again - the first time I saw Doctor Manhattan, I thought he looked awesome. 9 months later, my opinion changed. About two decades later, if I watch a Ninja Turtle movie, the costumes still hold up, and as strange as it sounds, they give an element of realism that I think today's CGI can't really reach. Mix the two of them like some suggested, and I'd be happy, but I'd hate to see the turtles completely computerized just because it's the way Hollywood makes movies now.

Considering the three studios behind it, I doubt they'd use anything but CG.

That's absolute poop, but I guess I should wait to see what the movie actually looks like before I get worked up with the mechanics of it all.

That is what they are doing

I hope you're correct because knowing this will make my day considering that is the absolute BEST route they can take to make it look its best. Full CGI would be too (TMNT) and that was pretty much an animated movie anyways. We want "LIVE ACTION" so the bulk of it has to be stuntmen/actors in suits with very little CGI sprinkled on top.

so knowing this is the route they're taking lets me as a fan know that they're taking all precautions to do this right. Gives me hope that this movie will be a good one

So I was reading Tales of the TMNT vol 2, issue 61 when I came to this panel. It is Raph and Mikey on their way to a fight. I love the dialog since this issue came out a while a go. It was just to good not to post since things have transpired to put Micheal Bay into producing a movie based off of these characters.

So I was thinking that if they want to make this a franchise that will last they really shouldn't over reach with the first movie. Actually any of the movies. Each should be its own story but be part of something bigger if that makes since.

The first movie of the old series was very well done. I don't want to see a retread of that but something along the lines that adds something new. It wouldn't be hard really I would think. One change that needs to be made is make the Foot a threat instead of street kids.

The Mirage comics have plenty of stories to tell. I think it would be great if they got some of the writers of the comics to come on board and help hammer out a script.

they need to add mousers/Baxter Stockman or a different type of villain then.

HAHAHA! That's perfect!

i know people want shredder to be saved, but outside of the hardcore fans most don't know any of the villains besides shredder and maybe krang leaving him out is a bad idea

hell one of the main concerns for tmnt was his lack of apperance

Audiences need to get exposed to the rest of the rogues gallery. That's why I would have Baxter Stockman and his Mousers in the first movie with Shredder and the Foot showing up at the end. Then, Shredder and the Foot Clan would be the villains in the second film. And the third I would have the Triceratons or Bebop and Rocksteady and other mutants, or Krang and his Dimension X soldiers.

It worked for Batman Begins, saving The Joker for the second film and using lesser known villains for the first (I doubt Ra's and Scarecrow were that well known before the movie).

the same can be done with the turtles. You can have a successful first film without using The Shredder

I still say it would work as an initial trilogy, with The Shredder as a manipulator throughout. The films would largely focus on other characters, but Shredder would always be in the background, controling others.

They'll want to play to the public image of Turtles, which (thanks to the 87 toon) Shredder is a major part of. The only way for The Shredder story to end is with his death - so featuring him in the first or second movies as the main threat would be playing their cards too soon.

Shredder, in the background until 3. Only way to go. From there, hopefully people would be ready to move on (After the relatively Shredder-less first 2) and any future sequels wouldn't need to rely too heavily on him.

fair enough, don't have him as the main villain but he has to be there in some fashion, and be seen.

the main joe public will remember shredder, krang beebop and rocksteady, hell the triceratons only really got a showing in the new show and even then most hadn't heard of them from before. hell even baxter has so many different version the original isn't that well known, most think of the whole mutant fly

I disagree leaving shredder out of the film he has to be there

Actually most people I know my own age just remember the Turtles I've found. At least the ones I talk to. The ones that do remember the old show talk about how goofy it is. So i think trying to install some nostalgia from it into the new movie would be bad. What we really need is a reboot ala Batman Begins. We need something that is its own creation and sets up a world where the Turtles could exist.

I loved the live ninja turtles movie as a kid and would definitely welcome another 1....
