New Sam Raimi interview

I think that's just wishful thinking on both your parts. He said "Maybe when the movie is complete I’ll have the fullest understanding of Venom".

That's got nothing to do with special FX or performances. If a director is not happy with a performance, then they re-shoot the scene to get a better performance. He doesn't wait until the movie is finished before knowing if he likes it or not lol.

He just isn't a fan of the character. Simple as that.

I think he's wanting to be as enthuastic as the fans but won't be untill he's seen the finished product.

That was the way I took that quote as well.
It's not that he still doesn't like the character, it's that he's waiting to see how it all comes together (FX / performances ...etc...) untill he is fully sold on how the fans feel about Venom.
I'm guessing that's why Venom was not in the initial trailer either.
not only will he probably have full understanding of venom when the movie comes out but he will also understand eddie brock more to. i think when the movie comes out sam will probably love venom to the fullist or alot if not more.

You can still get a true Goblin conclusion with Venom in the storyline. If anyone is complaining it's you, as I'm quite sure you were one of the many calling for Venom.

Me, on the other hand, I wanted to see The Lizard and Kraven way before Venom came into the picture. But now that Venom is in the film I'm eagerly anticipating to see what Raimi has done with the character.

If his depiction and the performance sucks horribly, then everyone should speak and talk about how Venom was screwed over. Until then we all should wait until the final product is released before judging it.

Who the **** are you to accuse me of being one of those who called for Venom when I'm bashing them as I speak? What kind of idiotic logic is that? This is how I wanted things to go down:

SM3 - Mysterio and Scorpion. Mysterio (who is framing Spidey) turns out to be GG2 in disguise
SM4 - Kraven and Lizard
SM5 - Venom
SM6 - Carnage OR Sinister Six

Mysterio would never work. His look is far too silly to be taken seriously. Granted the suit they made for the Green Goblin was silly too, but overall, Mysterio needs to be taken seriously. I do like Mysterio mainly because he creates a lot of realistic imagery to mess with Spidey's head, and with the special effects that's available now they would have a field day with the effects.

Kraven and Lizard is a good line-up. Would definitely love to see that in a future sequel.

We're getting Venom now and I expect for him to return in future sequels as well.

Carnage, well, the problem with Carnage is that his story is very much a rated R story and they would never do an R rated Spider-Man due to the amount of kids that see these films.

My god, that is a horrible idea.

GG1 is way more serious than Mysterio, and he was in a ridiculous looking costume. There's no reason why Mysterio couldn't work.

Good luck with that :cwink: Especially if Raimi is at the helm.

it is not a bad possibility of venom being in further sequels and sam directing. sandman is sams favorite villian so if he does not die then maybe he will return in a future sequel maybe in the sinister six if there ever is a movie with the sinister six which i doubt there will be. i think mysterio would work in a spidey movie. i wouldn't mind him asa villian in spidey5 or something.

Of course it is a bad possibility. He begrudgingly put Venom into this movie as it is. You think he wants to line up ol' slobber tongue as his front runner for any future Spidey movies??

Hell no.

sandman is sams favorite villian

Where did you hear that?? I've seen Sam say he's a fan of all the classic villains from Stan Lee's day. Which is kind of obvious when you look at who all his leading villains have been so far.

it was in the december 2005 wizard issue with the first photo of flint marko in it. maybe sam will put venom in a future spidey sequel for the fans once last time but i doubt he will. the symbiote lives but i don't know what will happen to the symbiote in future spidey sequels, either it returns and bonds with eddie brock again or i guess that would sadly be the end of the symbiote saga.

anyway i love what sam has done with these movies and even if this is the end of the symbiote saga i will still be happy no doubt.

LMAO, I serverly doubt that. He might love "his interperation" of Venom, but knowing Sam, he probably wont give a damn about Venom after SM3 comes out.

well he did say he fell in love with venom when topher was playing him but now he is saying he does not fully understand venom yet.

we will only find out when the movie comes out. maybe after the movie comes out they will ask him the same question again and we can only guess what his response will be.

I'm not going to get into this debate, all i'm going to say is I can't wait to see Venom on-screen.

I think he heard TOBEY say Sandman was his favorite villain. Because he did. (Or, at least, expressed a fondness)

As for Venom...yeah, i like him (heck, wrote two fan-fics with him in each) but cinematically, I think one movie (and two if there's--god forbid--Carnage) should do for him. It's worked for all the other villains, and they've had even more variety of sinister stories and twisted ideals. I think repeating a villain in a movie series gets old, no matter how good they are. (For example, the Superman movies.)

My bad.

Ock BETTER be Tobey's fav villain...he is the best. :)
sam and tobey are both fans of the classic villians from the 1960's and 1970's so i think that not only is ock tobey favorite villian but he likes other villians to.....just not as much as ock.

Alot of times editing makes or breaks performances. And also in the case of Venom, Raimi is wanting to see what the effects guys can do with him.

I think casting a vanilla midget as Venom shows how Raimi really thinks of Venom. Which is nothing. Because there is actually no Venom there to speak of. Because 100 lb soaking wet vanilla midgets don't actually exist.

I'm not hung up on who the favorites are as long as it's executed satisfactory onscreen.

I'm glad that Sandman or Brock aren't going to be hammed up, silly, and campy characters. They are going to have some seriousness and gravitas. This isn't going to be the horrid portrayal we got of Doom in Fantastic Four who seemed to have Electro's powers and a personality I wouldn't even remotely consider Doom.

My god, that is a horrible idea.

Yeah I know the idea sounds terrible, especially since it deviates from the comics...but in the fan script I wrote for SM3 it makes a lot of sense and actually makes for a great twist. Quentin Beck is still involved a great deal but...I would have to explain everything in detail for you all to get it. My version of SM3 is sort of a twisty thriller, and as far as Mysterio's costume goes its a lot different from the comics. More spooky and less campy.

The more I think about things, the more I believe Raimi wanted to include Venom in the film. Why mention Eddie in the first film? Why include Venom at all if you're not inerested in the character?

All he had to do was say no and it would've been forgotten about. The more and more I think about it, the more I believe he had all the intentions in the world to include Venom.

You say because of all the fanboy whining, begging, and screaming that he felt pressured by Avi Arad to include him? Look at how fanboys/fangirls screamed, begged, and demanded that Cyclops not be killed off in X3 and be given a bigger role. And we all know what Fox, Kinberg, Penn, and Ratner did with those complaints.

So in the end, I believe Raimi secretely likes Venom and is putting on a front.

Same reason he mentioned Dr Strange in the second movie. To make fans smile.

Why include Venom at all if you're not inerested in the character?

Because Avi Arad talked him into it.

Yeah, because he has so much to gain by pretending to hate the character.

LMAO! Gotta' love the fan boy way of thinking ;)
