Insider sources have revealed to me that Marvel and ABC are preparing to continue their relationship that started with this years Agents of SHIELD, with an as-of-yet unannounced TV series that is set to begin filming very soon.

The series, which is working under the production title, 'That Old Chestnut' has been in pre-production in terms of having a script written, but for the past month or so, my source tells me that both ABC and Marvel are now beginning to hire crew members for the show and are hiring local talent in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Filming in Vancouver means that the show will utilize studio space as well as take advantage of Vancouver locales for location filming. The show will join the likes of Arrow, Smallville, and Fringe; shows that have also shot in the city. My source tells me that the reason for Vancouver is partially due to the province's tax incentives.

With the hiring of crew members, my source tells me that Marvel is trying to keep security extremely tight on the project, whilst also trying to keep a brisk pace. My source tells me that in his twenty years of experience, he hasn't seen this level of devotion to security. Meanwhile, Marvel is also trying to get the show into principal photography by June at the latest.

My source also revealed that Marvel and ABC is putting a lot of money into this series; mentioning that it far exceeds the standard budget for a regular television series.

No mention of plot details, but when I asked my source if this show was the long rumored and talked about Agent Carter series, I was met with 'Mum's the word'. Take that for what you will.

Rumors of ABC filming a series in Vancouver have been circulating locally for a while but with the show now being a Marvel series; it would seem that both Marvel and ABC have huge plans for the MCU on TV going forward.

Yeah, it's pretty much a slam-dunk that it's Peggy Carter. There was also another interview recently saying that Peggy would be an ABC series, and that it would have a very big budget.

I want them to get Dum Dum Dugan as a regular.

It would be interesting, it would basically be the origin of Shield in tv show form.

Dum dum definitely needs to be on this show.

I'm not too interested in this since I don't care much for old timey shows, but I'm for sure willing to give it a shot and hope it excites me. It will be cool to see the early Shield world and maybe even get some glimpses at the early era heroes and villains, maybe even Ant Man will show up!

Is this show essentially AoS set in the 50s? I haven't really looked into anything about the shows premise.

The Peggy Carter one-shot was set immediately after WWII, 1946. It hasn't been stated whether or not the new series will remain in that time period.

Personally, I'd like to see the show span multiple decades, and not in linear order. We could see the evolution of Peggy (and SHIELD) from the 1940s through modern times, set against a backdrop of flashbacks and flashforwards. Like "Spy Game."

I'm fine with the series set in the late 40s. This way we will have the Howling Commandos all in their prime

With Carter Steve Rodgers can cameo via Time Travel. Kind of like that one Andromeda episode

The problem with that is that it severely limits the story to only a handful of years in pretty much the Truman era. It makes it look like the only important things that ever happened in the post-WWII life of Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, the Commandos and SHIELD in general happened only in the late 40s. Those stories need to be writ large, across the bigger canvas of the Cold War (and beyond).

I hope they already have a clear idea of their beginning, middle and end.
If it is a Peggy Carter show it is set within a fixed continuity.

I'm HOPING this is Agent Carter or as we last saw in the one-shot DIRECTOR Carter

I don't think she was promoted to director at the end of the one shot but certainly moved close to the epicenter of the new agency

At the end of the One-Shot, Howard said that Peggy would be running SHIELD with him. It's pretty much canon that she was the first Director.

They might want to retcon that so she can be out in the field more. If it is an Agent Carter series I want to see her doing things like she did in the one shot not telling others to do it.

I suspect that interpreting the comments as "Peggy Carter, Director of SHIELD" are a little mistaken. "Join me in running SHIELD" just as readily, and more probably, refers to her and the others being the "inner circle" so to speak. If anybody is the initial director, its probably General Chester Phillips.

The advantage of being part of the immediate adminstrative circle under the Director is that it lets you be involved in organizational leadership, *and* active adventuring. Especially since, for the early days of SHIELD, there probably is a *lot* of stuff the inner circle would need to handle directly, as they don't have a giant cadre of agents yet.

"Agent Carter, it is my duty to inform you that you are going to run SHIELD."

There's nothing to "interpret" from that --- it is what it is.
Peggy's the Director of SHIELD. That doesn't mean she's a desk-bound pencil-pusher. Nick Fury is Director of SHIELD in modern times --- does he look like a pencil-pusher to you?

Don't you know... that's how he got the eye-patch! Pushed one pencil just a little too far... :funny:

I just can't believe they'd go ahead with another show so soon on the same network when they haven't gotten this ship sailing smoothly yet.

I'm completely on board with 'sam's idea for the "AgentDirector Carter" show to explore the MCU (from a SHIELD perspective) between WWII and present day. Each season could cover anywhere between 5 years and a decade. I would end the show around the time of the first Stark Expo in 1974. We could have Winter Soldier arcs, Ant-Man arcs, the Howling Commandos as series regulars, etc. Unfortunately, I don't think that level of planning and execution is in the DNA of network TV.

I don't know, I think Agents of Shield has been from good to great since episode three. I have been really enjoying the show.

A show focused on Carter would be amazing.

Plus, I don't think there'll be a lot of similarities/comparisons between the two shows. Yeah, they're technically both SHIELD shows, but a female-led spy-game period piece is going to feel like a very different genre from Team Coulson doing X-Files Meets X-Men.
