Never played the games and judging from the trailer I get the same feeling I do about the games. More a ''whoa. that's weird." than a ''OMFG. PISS MY PANTS." feeling.

All I hope is that the film captures the sadness of the game. Dunno if anyone else picked it up, but more than a horror game I always felt that Silent Hill was a very sad gad and the emotion that I felt, specifically for the first two was that the characters were very lost, and not in the traditional sense.
