I didn't call a question mark, Raven

You're one of them, aren't you?
Tell that to Robin Williams

Once machines get smart enough they can upgrade themselves.
Relatively soon after the eventual artificial intelligence upgrade could easily mimic any function of the human brain including creativity, emotion, belief or even consciousness.
If they reach that level what would separate them from us? Other than being able to explore those functions in vastly more advanced ways?
lol
I love that movie btw. Every time I watch it, I shade a tear.
Yeah no doubt, they will become autonomous and mimic very close the human brain and body. But still, they will remain lifeless machines. I guess it has got to do with the soul. If you believe humans are not just an empty shell of flesh and blood, then you cannot accept that Robots will ever be like us.
In the end it is up to us where this A.I. thing goes. Either we keep creating more human-like robots for warfare tactics or sex service purposes and taking into account the kind of society we live in, I am afraid that's what's gonna happen, or we build them in a way that resembles more automated machines that works 24/7 to clean oceans and waste, produce food and construct our cities.
The robot thing explains a really bad telemarketing call I got a few weeks ago. It was for a dental plan. The woman sounded so bright and cheerful, but when I told her I have my own plan and said goodbye, she just barreled right ahead with her script. "You have a dental plan? Well, that's exactly why you really need to hear about our exciting offer!" After about 30 seconds more of her spiel I just said, "I'm not interested. Goodbye!" and hung up while she was still talking. Then I felt rude but the wench just would not take a hint and shut up.
Now I'm pretty sure that it was a robot call because it isn't normal for a telemarketer to just ignore responses and keep going like that.
I've always assumed that they were real people but were forced to follow a script and not deviate from it.
Incidentally, does a human failing the Turing test make him a robot ?
...I never realized telemarketers were human.
Most telemarketers won't waste time on a prospect once they've gotten a definite "no." Time is money and time wasted on someone who rejects the pitch isn't going to earn them anything. They just say goodbye and move on to the next cold-call victim. Sometimes they simply hang up without a goodbye because they don't want to waste any more time.
Fair point, it make sense.
As I don't have much experience in telemarketing I also thought that they tried to sell the product/service to the last end and didn't took "no" as an answer.
My toaster has no reflection so ha!I think teelie is just a narcissist who only loves the toaster for its stainless steel reflection.
I do one better; if I don't recognize the number or it comes up as suspicious, I don't answer it. I don't dial toll free numbers either, unless it's specifically to deal with a certain company over a certain matter. If it isn't them, I don't stay on the line.So if you ever dial a toll free number and are told you won a $100 Walmart card hang up the phone because you may get me and if you get me I will sell you, and you will probably end up having to cancel your card and it will cost you money.
That is absolutely correct, everyone says no at first, it's a given. It's almost everyone default response because people always assume phone stuff is a scam.
Just to give you an idea of what I do, I sign people up for 5 programs that come out on a trial and if they don't cancel it they will be billed $99.98 for all five. They get gifts for reviewing the programs and but most of the time the gifts aren't what they thought they were getting. Also it can be a pain to cancel them once they sign up. My company has thousands of 1-800 and 1-888 numbers that are one digit off from big companies numbers like walmart, the EBT hotline, and local utilities etc etc.
So if you ever dial a toll free number and are told you won a $100 Walmart card hang up the phone because you may get me and if you get me I will sell you, and you will probably end up having to cancel your card and it will cost you money.
I close about 90% of my calls on any given day, and I can sleep at night cuz I don't lie, speed read or mislead them. I tell them everything but I can't control what the fronter tells them or what they interpret from what I say. When I first came up in the telemarketing game I was very shady and ripped off tons of people. I've grown since then and since I only do this for extra money ( I can live comfortably off of my DJing) I refuse to do anything that makes me feel like I'm being shady anymore
Glad to hear you stopped ripping off people.
When you say you tell them everything, when it comes to subscriptions do you make sure to tell them that if they go for a one month trial they have to cancel before it ends otherwise the subscription keeps going or did you let them figure that out on their own?
Hunter, Morg, and C. Lee will never allow that to happen![]()
