New Thunderbolts?

Well, I think its fairly obvious that the Suicide Squad of the Marvel Universe isn't going to last very long in its present form. The reason the original Suicide Squad worked is that the majority of members weren't hard core psychopaths but we're largely willing to work within the system even if they were pretty damn evil.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that saw this as a more psychotic Suicide Squad.

Norman Osbourne, Venom, and Bullseye are all guys who have to go for a stable team and that removes a very interesting dynamic from the union. Sadly, a lot of Spiderman's B-listers were slaughtered in Punisher War Journal. I would have enjoyed seeing Doctor Octopus match wits with some of these clowns and so on.

If you ask me, what's going to happen is either the "rotating supervillain" format changes and Songbird gets promoted/goes rogue or a likeable group of team members will be formed in the midst of all of this (Swordsman doesn't look like he's going to be much in the way of it) before going rogue like they were originally.

I think what is going to happen is that the government is going to be humiliated in the end with the Thunderbolts. Scorpion will get kicked off the team when he loses the Venom symbiote. The villains find a way around the nanomachines. Bullseye does something and goes out in plain sight and does something extremely violent. The Green Goblin goes after Spider-Man in a fashion that causes the loss of innocent lives. The Thunderbolts then return to their original incarnation as a team of supervillains trying to redeem themselves: Songbird, Swordsman, Radioactive Man, Pennance, and others probably but now with a very tainted reputation.

And I remind you that Carnage was once petrified by the Silver Surfer ;-)

Marvel just confimred that Eddie Brock will be Venom again in Sensational Spider-Man #38

I was definitely into the latest issue of Thunderbolts. Sweet jesus is Osborn really losing it. The whole Steel Spider scenario at the end was freakin' great. And it's only a matter of time before that crazy middle aged man snaps and he and Spidey are going toe to toe once again. And Deodato's artwork is freakin' right on the money for this series. Hopefully this creative team will stick around on the book for a while. Until then...lets keep up the awesome work.

Gargan is a pretty crazy Venom though. He's insane w/o the symbiote and I like that. What I don't like is how dull he is with it on....weird.

Yeah, well I've got to say that I did think the Thunderbolts was sort of lagging for a bit there. They were facing down some heavy hitters but aside from some cute jokes now and then, they weren't exactly knocking it out of the ballpark either.

I'm going to miss Joystick though, for more reasons than one ;-)

Scorpions and Spiders are natural enemies, therefore, he should be one of his biggest foes.

But then again, there's also the fact that symbiotes suck donkey balls.

He was one of Spider-Man's biggest foes. The fact that he got booted to the wayside is unfortunate, but putting a symbiote on him doesn't do anything to fix that.

The only reason that the Mac Gargan version of Venom seems dull is because he really hasn't had much of a chance since his "origin" to NOT be dull. Other than Millar putting the suit on him and the Beyond miniseries there really wasn't a whole lot of Gargan Venom.

Now if a decent writer would have taken the time to flesh the guy out a little bit it might be a little more acceptable. But, unfortunately, I think the boys at Marvel always figured the suit would end up back with Brock anyway.

Which, in the end, makes this whole Gargan era Venom completely useless and a waste of time.

Well in the context that Brock Venom is a psychotic vigilante.

And Gargan is a mercenary.

It's really "choose your poison." In some ways, brock is MUCH WORSE than Gargan while he's preferrable in others.
