News flash!

it is what i love about snyder he takes his time with his production he usually gives himself like an 8-10 month post production period lol

It's just the standard 2D comics 'S'

They wouldn't post such a big reveal in a cross marketing promo and not make a statement about it

I tend to think that Sideshow are actually using an official logo provided by Legendary/WB's for this promotion. Sideshow are likely lining up a licensing deal to make a Maquette for the movie. I know from talking to someone there a while back, that they didn't have a licensing deal for DC, but maybe this is about to change. Afaik they start development on these statues a couple of years out, so if they haven't seen see the new costume yet their sculpters will likely see it very soon.

If that is the official logo for MOS, it looks like Snyder has decided to go with the most iconic and definitive version of the \S/, Basically it is the DC merchandising \S/ that's known the world over. That choice in itself could be very telling imo.

Hopefully they'll do a half scale Maquette of Henry as Superman. If it is a faithful update of the Classic look, I'll be pre-ordering it for sure. I have the Half Scale Iron Man by SS which is amazing, so a MOS one makes me salivate!! The costume better look good damn it, otherwise SS and WB won't be getting my hard earned dosh lol! I still have a hunch that the MOS costume will be totally classic, trunks and all.

Btw. In two weeks it'll be Harry Potter and Captain America wall to wall into early August. Imho, If WB's want to get a lot of press for the new costume without it being overshadowed, they need to show it in the next week or so, or perhaps the first week of August. Hopefully it's this Sunday.

Anyone still find it depressing to think at times that we'll still have to wait till NEXT December before this film is released?lol

Not me! Often the lead up to some of these movies tends to be as much fun and as exciting as the actual movie. I really enjoyed Singer's video blogs for SR, so hopefully, Snyder will do something similar.

Sideshow also used the comics versions of the Captain America and Iron Man titles until the official movie ones came out.

Like I said, a big reveal like the film's logo wouldn't be made in a small sweepstakes announcement; especially one that looks like a quick photoshop job.

I pre-ordered the SS Hot Toys C.A. from the upcoming movie, and I hope they do the revised costume that'll be featured in the Avengers next year. btw I still think that might be the official logo. These toys are like crack to me lol!!

I'm guessing Crowe is looking more confirmed now.

????
The Court ordered them to make a Superman film, not a "final" one.
MOS is not intended to be the last movie of a franchise.
I know you are hoping that MOS is the end of Superman, as demonstrated by your recent posts, but most fans, myself included, are optimistic that the WB and the other parties involved, will come to an agreement by 2013.

Exactly. The movie was greenlited to help a deal with Siegels. If it is a success I'm sure that no one will split the rights in two.

Yeah, it could definitely be worse. It could be a 19-year wait for a Superman film. WB has to get this film out, so I don't have any doubts that we will be seeing a Superman film in 2012.

.

Casting is so critical. The SR cast was totally mis-cast.

MOS holds much more promise.

That is what I'm holding onto in hoping for it's success.

Cavill's chemistry is palpable and he has an unbelievable screen presence. uThe other actors cast so far are talented - even if maybe too pricey for a 150 million film that needs lots of FX money.

But in the end it's the characters and the actors portraying them that will sell, or not, this film. Snyder has surprised me by his choices - in a good way. Snyder scares me at times in some of his interviews - like he's had a little too much coffee or something.

But he and Nolan are paying attention to the cast in a way that Singer never did and that gives MOS a big leg up on SR.

I think that it's not just the actors themselves that are exciting as well - It's the list of characters we have now and how that is giving us an idea of the story.

And It's the weight of certain actors in certain roles too.

For example, we know JK and Jor-el are going to have more than two lines because of the big names playing them.

It's very comforting.

Spacey was the only exciting name they pulled out for SR, and it was just such a shame they did nothing exciting with him.

They'll come to an agreement because for the 100th time WB owns the superman symbol which is, at this point at least, the most profitable piece of merchandise they have including the comics.

While it’s nice for WB that – no matter what happens - they’ll be able to continue marketing coffee mugs and lunchboxes with the :super: logo, I don’t think that’s an especially relevant factor as far as inducing a settlement is concerned.

That symbol is worth more than anything The family's lawyers could take.

It would be nice to get some news since it's my brithday. :)

Really? How much does it earn for WB now? And how much will it earn in the future when it no longer stands for "Superman" - because "Superman" is part of the Action #1 ruling?

I hope WB/DC wins all the court cases, and this sad chapter is put behind us.

In theory they have the rights for "Superman" but not for "Super Man" or "Super-man"

There are good chances to continue the franchise even without Siegels.

WB owns the trademark to the Superman name, so anything that S&S release cannot be titled Superman. Or the other way around, with WB able to use the name, but not the title. I can't remember, but it's similar to the SHAZAM!/ Captain Marvel, debacle with DC and Marvel.

As long as the first movie works well and makes money, there won't be anything to hold back a franchise.

Did you really feel the need to bump every thread in the board?

sooo.....with the first The Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer coming out now, a full year before the movie comes out ( July 2012 ), do you think this Nov/Dec would be the earliest we'd see the first MOS trailer ( assuming a Dec 2012 release )?

We could get a teaser in December but I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until next spring.

apparently kurt johnstad (300, the last photograph) is doing a rewrite/passover of goyer's script. jonah nolan had a go already.
