Next Sonic game For 360

Ew, Sonic + guns = lame. Sonic needs no stinkin' guns. Leave that to his pale imitation Shadow.
Yeah I've never approved of Sonic using a gun. he actually despises guns in the comics. Now a SWORD, I can see him using. But nothing to fancy, just a simple longsword.

Yeah, but that makes the games worthwhile, not the console the developers decided to put them on. I'd gladly play Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories or the third God of War game if they weren't handheld-exclusive. Since they are, however, I probably never will.

Well, I have both handhelds, so I suppose it's nice that they have something worthwhile to play on them that relate to their console brother. For me, anyway.

It would have been really cool to make a Sonic game like Ratchet and Clank. SInce he grinds, that would fit perfectly. HE could use guns, etc and have huge bossfights a la God f War.

No. :cmad:

Shadow was always way cooler, anyhoo.:o

I mean, the routine "pounce on your enemies to kill them" is so last summer. lol

Sonic using a sword....eh. It would have to have a sword combat system that ranks with the best of them. I don't see that happening.

The only other direction I can see is making it purely a side scroller like Viewtiful Joe. The best Sonic games were always those.

How did a thread about Sonic get 28 posts? :(

he's one of the most beloved video game characters ever? His first 3 game are arguably as good if not better than Mario's first 3 games? People would love to see him return from the mediocrity that he's been wallowing in since the Dreamcast? Want me to keep going?

That was my point. I don't foresee any big returns for Sonic as far as consoles go.

Shadow blows...also, am I the only one to notice the only character in Sonic games who uses a gun is the black hedgehog?

Sonic and the Secret Rings was a step in the right direction...and this BioWare RPG could be awesome as hell.

Haha, I never even thought about it that way. :woot:

And yeah, Shadow blows big time.

Yes, Secret Rings was good, not great. Much better than that **** on the 360/Ps3. What garbage.

And the RPG is for DS.

I'm sure if it does well enough on DS they might eventually bring the concept over to consoles (most likely Wii, which Sega has stated is now the new unofficial home of Sonic a while back)

Perhaps a sequel. But would Bioware still do it then?

And yeah, with the Olympics game, it sure seems that way. And it should be that way.

I hope the Olympics game does incredibly well, and we get an actual platformer Sonic/Mario crossover...that would be my f**king video game wet dream come true...well, either that or a Halo/Viva Pinata crossover :o

A platformer together would indeed be amazing. As long as Nintendo made the bulk of it.

Oh, and Smash Bros god dammit!

The Sonic games are like the Britney Spears of video games. They used to be so awesome but they've went down in flames and now they're sitting in rehab with a shaved head. :csad: Let the franchise die with whatever amount of dignity that is had left.

I love the Sonic games up until Sonic Adventure 2. After the first Adventure they blew.

They should condense the series and erase half the characters. I'd only keep Sonic, Robotnik, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy (every game hero needs his vixen).

Hey, I liked Adventure 2!
yeah I dont get all the hate for SA2. The first was by far the best but SA2 was pretty solid. The gameplay was the same and thats what counts. It was pure fun.

He isnt the only one that uses a gun. E-102 Gamma from SA1 had a gun

I just want to make a few comments...

*Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't bad at all, in fact it might have been better than the first, but Shadow was introduced in this game and I very closely associate Shadow with Sonic's fall to mediocrity.

*Does anyone else find the Olympics game to be an incredibly dumb idea? I mean if you've seen any gameplay footage than you would see how silly it looks for Mario to be keeping up with Sonic in a race.

*Mario and Sonic together in an old-school platformer? Great idea on paper! But I just can't see it working in an actual game. Assuming we take power-ups out of the equation, Sonic does everything Mario can do, except better. I would definately feel sorry for the guy who has to play as Mario.

Also...

When was Britney Spears ever "awesome"?

I'd say sometimes before she dropped out of high school to pursue a "singing" career.

The fact that we all agree Sonic Adventure was a good game, and it WAS in 3-D, it's pretty clear a good Sonic game can be made in 3D. We need to get away from gimmicks, like guns and telekinesis, trying to make sonic cool... a guy fast as heck that throws wisecracks has been cool since Odysseus was kicking butt and faking names.

And while multiple cast members can be cool, with the exception of hte regular institution, tails, anyone who doesn't bring bomb-behind gameplay to the scene shouldn't be playable. I'm looking at you Rose.

More intricate tracks, more unique stunts to each area, not all-track based, but perhaps a balanced based track stunt keeps coming up in one area, or a jump-timing based track stunt in another area... get a lil creative and you can do things that will make all of us glad to leave 2D behind.

As for storyline, keep it classic, and add from there. Robotnik is using the Chaos Emeralds in some novel way using a large amount of technology. He could be breaching other dimensions, he could be brushing his teeth to a deadly blinding white... who cares? And if you're bold enough to make a badass new villain, go for it. Shadow and Silver could've been GREAT villains, imho.

The list of things that can be improved in 3D Sonic games is so extensive, it's hard for me to imagine that "being in 3D" is the problem, while it can be a challenge. It's hard for me to imagine that Sonic 'just can't work' in 3D when I still enjoy a little Sonic Adventure now and then.

Oh, theres no doubt that Sonic can be done well in 3D. I would just love to see what NEW 2D versions of my favorite franchises would look like if their developers took advantage of our powerful modern day hardware.

Hell, it could revitalize some of them and maybe even start a new trend.

I think a good side-scroller would be quite refreshing. They need to just quit bringing in new characters. They should get rid of all the $hitty, annoying characters from the games (Cream, Amy, Big, Pretty much everyone who appeared after Sonic Adventure 2), and replace them with a few of the awesome characters from the comics (Sally, Knack the Weasel, Scourge, Ixis Naugas, The Dark Legion).

I love Sonic 1-3 including Sonic and Knuckles. I was never really into the 3d games, however.
