Nightwish with Floor Jansen

    For any of you that like Symphonic Metal and have been following the drama behind this band Nightwish, you might be interested in knowing that Floor Jansen has been singing for the band after Anette Olzon left the group. If any singer is a fitting replacement singer for this group it is Floor who has such a versatile singing voice and whom can sing Tarja's songs perfectly. It's no joke but just hearing Floor singing for Nightwish brings a depth of joyfully tearful emotions from within me. This is a dream come true for me.

    Now I know how Tarja fans felt like. Anette brought something new to the band, a much more happy and light voice in stark contrast to all other symphonic metal bands out there with female singers. Floor just sounds like 99% of everyone else.

    I think as a solo act Anette is good because that is her style, but Nightwish was built upon mixing metal with classically trained vocals which Anette did not have but Floor does. She is one of the female pioneers of that sound you speak of. Have you ever heard any songs Floor Jansen did with After Forever? I think you aren't familiar with Floor's past work and her recognition in the European Metal pantheon of female singers. She really is right up there with the best of them. Trust me Floor is very very good for Nightwish. Just listen to her rendition of Dark Chest of Wonders and how she can hit Tarja's operatic notes perfectly. She is the compromise between Tarja and Anette and can sing both styles with versatility. When Tarja left Floor was the #1 candidate with the majority of Nightwish fans and now our dream is a reality.

    Nightwish's next album will be a concept album based upon a comic called The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Thoughts? Opinions anyone?

    *phew* Thank the Heavens you's from Finland and have a better news filter. Please update us all, lurkers alike on the progress and reception.

    I guess since it's Tuomas his side projects are still relevant here as well as the other band mates.

    Of interest Anette Olzon has released a single post-Nightwish.

    The connections are forming pretty strongly. Simone Simons is married to Oliver Palotai of Kamelot, while Floor Jansen has been on professional-friendly terms with Mark Jansen since After Forever.

    Now if only Christofer Johnsson would make himself more sociable with other bands. o_O

    Sorta off topic, but since this thread could become about symphonic metal in general...

    Heidi Parviainen, previously of the band Amberian Dawn, is holding a kick starter for her newish project Dark Sarah. Saw a few DS videos. Pretty cool. Especially the duet with Manuela Kraller.

    On the topic of Nightwish, it sure will be nice to see an official live DVD from this band.

    Hmmm...now that I have learned that the bigoted, irrationally aggressive Atheist Richard Dawkins will be on the album I'm a tad less excited for the new album. I really do not want to hear any of his anti creator message crammed down my throat with the vitriolic hatred he seems to possess for people like me that believe in a sparsely distributed mass of subatomic particles we have pridefully and in our vanity given a name to in an album by a group I rather like.

    I'm not familiar with Floor Jansen, but I'll give her a chance, since she's had experience singing in this type of genre.

    Have you searched up some of the songs Floor sang on tour with Nightwish? She was asked to rush to where Nightwish was touring and replace Anette at short notice. She did pretty well for not having enough time to prepare herself properly. This is my favorite performance from her singing Ghost Love Score.

    I really like the new song. At first it didn't feel any memorable but now I like it. The chorus is great.

    Yes and the new album is coming next month. Also Troy Donockley(pipes, flutes & whistles) and Kai Hahto(drums) are official members. Jukka Nevalainen might come back at some point but he is on break because of insomnia.

    To be honest, I never liked Anette in the band because of her lack of experience in this genre of music, her voice is more suited for a band like Breaking Benjamin, not Nightwish.

    I'm glad Floor Jansen is in the band, to me she is a better singer, and the new songs have been great to me.

    I feel like Nightwish can get back to where they need to be, since this is a fresh start and a chance to start over again.

    I'm excited for the new album.

    I'm a huge fan of Floor Jansen so having her in Nightwish is just a perfect combo.

    Disappointed they had the intolerant, aggressive Richard Dawkins on the album though. :/

    I'm going to see Nightwish and Delain in Colorado Springs on March 15.

    I've been on a female fronted metal/hard rock kick lately. In the last year I've seen Within Temptation, Halestorm, and The Pretty Reckless and soon Delain and Nightwish. Might try to see Epica soon too but my concert budget is all but obliterated (I also bought tickets to Black Sabbath w/Ozzy for Feb 15 in Denver).

    Of the bands listed I think I still like Within Temptation the best, but I'm way hyped to see Nightwish with Floor Jansen. I loved her work in After Forever and was not a fan of Annette era Nightwish.

    this is all i need to know ...

    i saw NW in concert in NYC with tarja and when SLEEPING SUN played i was never more prouder to be a metalhead. that girl was amazing ....
    ANETTE ( dear GOD , i was commuting back and forth from nyc to upstate and had to check them out
    in DARK PASSION PLAY or whatever the heck the album after tarja was
    saw them at THE CHANCE venue * and i cant stress this enough do NOT EVER ATTEND the chance it is a hole in the wall that is a low budget version of JOES APARTMENT complete with roaches)


    she was the worst replacement ,half @55ed performance and only played 45 minutes before walking off ,i swear yoko was the only other bad singer i have every listened to. >__> she walked off without a word.....and everyone was like O_______________________0 that crap was horrible
