The best live show I have ever seen in my life is The Dillinger Escape Plan.
Being front and center the whole set ment I got up close and personal, sang into the mic, had the singer breathe fire right over me, hell.. the light fixture over my head came down halfway and almost crushed everyone in front.
After that, the club told them they had to stop and coulden't finish thier last song, pushed everyone back.. the singer came down and finished the song on the floor right in the middle of everyone, it was insane.
In addition to it being the craziest performance i'd ever witnessed, the music was incredibly spot on, they even picked up the last song EXACTLY where they left off (if you're familiar with thier timing structures and the speed they play at, then you know how impressive it really is.)
But I suppose it depends on your preference.. most people don't like getting up close and personal with the band because they hate getting bumped around and all that, which i understand. And most of the time with those bigger bands, it's damn near impossible to get anywhere near the stage.
