Switch Nintendo's next generational console

I think Nintendo just want to avoid another Wii U debacle.

Switch 2 leaves little doubt and markets it to everyone that this is a true successor and not a revision.

I'm just ready for the reveal.
Which honestly is probably for the best. Yeah Switch 2 might be boring but for the general public it will make complete sense that this is the next iteration. Look at Xbox with all the confusing names they've had the last few generations. I'm a gamer and I still get them mixed up, nevermind some parent who knows nothing trying to get the right console for their kid.

Yep. I mean look at Sony. All the PlayStations have used numbers and it's worked for them. It's a proven formula.

Nintendo doesn't need to reinvent the wheel again. Switch has been their greatest success. They just need to build on it.

yeah I get why they are doing it, but still... Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System...Switch...Super Switch...

With the original two consoles, they had the benefit of both looking drastically different. Just by looking at them, you could tell. By all accounts the new Switch, looks just like the old one but with a bigger screen. They have to tread lightly to avoid market confusion.

yeah, I know. it was also a different time, back then. you know? this is just wishful thinking on my part.
Noooooo! Not Super Switch! SUPER NINTENDO SWITCH!
I'll take it!

The thing with Super Switch is that it only works once. What would they call a third one, fourth one, etc? Ultra Switch? Mega Switch? Nintendo might be planning to stick with the Switch branding for quite some time, at least until sales significantly drop. Using numbers would mean they can easily keep using the Switch branding indefinitely, without having to waste marketing dollars on coming up with a new variation every few years.

Since it only works once, at that point they could call the next console after it the Switch 3.

The Nintendo 64's development name was the Ultra 64.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. They ditched the name though, no doubt because the word Ultra does not communicate anything substantially different from the word "Super", so they preferred to focus solely on the amount of bits (after having marketed the SNES as 16 bit and NES as 8 bit), which provides a more concrete progression (though bits became outdated not long afterwards)

Even the most clueless boomer parent or grandparent can easily tell that Switch 3 is better than Switch 2. Whereas telling Ultra Switch apart from Super Switch is just gonna confuse them. Even understanding that Switch 3 is better than Super Switch (as was suggested above by XtremelyBaneful) is more confusing for a clueless parent/grandparent than the perfect simplicity of "Switch 3 > Switch 2 > Switch"

DLSS would certainly be nice to have on Switch 2 games, FSR just isn't as good.

Super Nintendo Switch just works the more I play with it. Here's a logo mock up done in MS Paint! :awesome:

The buttons and stick on the original Switch were nigh unusable to me with my adult size hands so that’s an area they need to improve by making them larger.
