No CGI for the Silver Surfer?

I believe Spectral Motion is creating the body suit for Silver Surfer, and WETA is enhancing it with CGI...just like how they did Colossus in X-Men: The Last Stand. Spectral Motion created his body suit used on-set, and it was later mixed with CGI, created by 'Hydraulx' (instead of WETA). WETA only worked on the Alcatraz battle, and the Iceman 'ice-up' effect in X3. I think the AICN guy was just misinformed. He probably assumed since Spectral Motion was working on SS, that there would be no CGI involved, and only practial stuff, lol

That is why i hate AICN. They are always biased and give wrong information and post negative things about movies they just hate.

I say boycott AICN. And whoever here supports that site GO TO HELL!!!

This sounds bogus, Tim Story himself has indicated that a large part of the effect of the Silver Surfer was going to be CGI, so much so that some initially specualted that it was going to be on the order of what we had with Golum in the Lord of the rings which was done by Weta and which is on board with FF2.

This seems completely contrary to the evidence we have had with Weta coming on board and what Tim said and the obvious fact that Doug is not going to be as pivotal a player as we might have thought. This suggests that like with the matrix, Doug will do a lot of the personal scenes but that for the Silver Surfer in action it will generally be mostly CGI, what other reason could they have for bringing in Weta and not just using Spectral Motion which handled the Thing suit.

This is obvious a case of some uninformed guy passing on incomplete information.

My assumption from this is that they simply have someone dressed up as SS on the set, possibly Doug, who is literally there to interact with the actors....

I know, I just don't understand why people are all of a sudden jumping to conclusions that he is gonna be wearing a "power rangers" style suit. Its silly, especially given how much Hollywood loves CGI lol

Reading the article over again though it does sound like it could be plausible. I am trying to find out with my contacts whether or not this is they way they are going and will let you guys know if it is true.

Pretty odd spy report on www.aintitcool.com, so, like anything from that site, take it with a big grain of salt. He´s saying SS will not be either all CGI or even a combination of it with motion capture, but a crome-ish painted over suit... If it´s true, I really don´t get it, since CGI works pretty well to create that kind of silverish reflective surface - see T1000. I get why The Thing wasn´t CGI, but this, I wouldn´t see the purpose.

Why are you dissing AICN?? I go to every single site that has reports on upcoming movies, anything that has to do with Super hero movies etc. I hope people on various websites aren't GEEKY and ******ed enough to start getting cultish and making loyalties to certain websites over others... That would be beyond pathetic. Personally I dont care, I get great news and features on Crave websites, so I end up coming here the most.

I agree with you about the Surfer. What the hell are they smoking when they are passing up on the CGI??? If you cant afford to have Galactus, and show the stupendous special effects that come with him and Doctor Doom and all the Fantastic Four characters being in it plus Silver Surfer, then dont have him in the first place.. Dont cheapen and totally obliterate a character and squeeze him the movie (ex. X-men)!!! If you cant do it right dont do it at all.

People should fall in love with the characters that they see on the screen. Silver Surfer could easilly become one of those characters that could become a franchise. A lot of great stories can come out of that character especially on the screen. Marvel shouldn't let any film maker mess him up.

Guys the rumor is bull****. Tim Story already stated Surfer was state of the art CGI. Oh and David Duchovny is the Hulk and it's direct to video too.

I forwarded the story to Tim Story on myspace just so he could defuse this rumor or set it straight. There might be a man in suit for a particular scene or two though and that might be what this mole man saw.
