but why :(...one of the greatest parts of the bond movies was the introduction of all the great gadgets that would be used throughtout the story. and it was always a great laugh as well...and that's probably the reason why they aren't in this one: new moody more serious and realistic Bond.

i'm not mad as this is some what of an origins tale and they are taking a new angle, that the gadgets scenes would probably take about from the seriousness of...and i can dig that as long as it's done well...but damn it , i loved the f'ing gadgets.:(

what do you people think about this development?

oh...and this is in reaction to the screen test reviews saying that there are no gadgets...so i believe it to be true.

They will be back in the next movie...

Ian Fleming's Casino Royale book doesn't have gadgets so I believe that's why they are not in Martin Campbell's CR movie.

Lets hope when they do show up..no invisible bloody car.

There are a few gadgets of sorts, but they're minor and realistic (somewhat akin to OHMSS). It's mostly believable tech:

There is a tracking device that's used with a read-out on Bond's cell phone to show where it is, and Bond's Aston Martin DBS comes equipped with a defibrillator unit.

To be honest, I think the whole gadgetry thing is a tad old hat at this point. It just doesn't feel that cool anymore, and so a little break from them will probably do some good. Besides, in this era of heavy technology, for something to be extraordinary, it often has to go into the area of science fiction, and I'd prefer to see things stay a little more grounded.

I once heard this aston martins gadgets will all be internal.

Even though its hardly new as it was when "From Russia with love" premiered perhaps it has a phone in the car?

There was no gadget in Dr No, nnearly none in FRWL and FYEO, and those movies were great. Bond does not need gadgets, especially since the ones he used in the last movie were so ridiculous.

I just loved the chemistry between Pierce and Desmond. That was the greatest part of him getting gadgets.

Every actor had great chemistry with Desmond. Now that he's gone, it makes Q and the gadgets all the more pointless.

Yes, the chemistry with Cleese is simply not the same. And the gadgets are simply too ridiculous now, to say the least. Keep them believable at least, things conceivable and susceptible to be used by a real spy.

I liked in YOLT when bond was more professional than making jokes at Q. Right down to business

Q- heat seeking rockets

bond- good what range?

dialogue like that

Bond has to take the piss out of Q, thats one of the reasons they have such charm together..bond doesn't take his work seriously.

he must have been thinking

"where the hell am I?"

when he was in a hollowed out volcano with ninja's descending ropes, explosions going off and a missile only a few feet away :D

Gadgets are why they're making this. I think its better to show a Bond using his brains and fighting his way out without gadgets.

Yeah, I often have heard people complain about Bond being able to work his way out of tight situations by using a gadget instead of his brains or whatever.
