no-name director gets AvP2

I have one, and only one question:

will Bill Paxton be in it?

He HAS to be i9n it, he's the only one that faced both Aliens AND Predators.

This could be very bad, we'll have great special effects but terrible story.... But then again it could be good...

I really hate the way Fox is treating this franchise.

Anything is better than PAUL **** ANDERSON...maybe even EWW BOWELS.

At least we are going to have mind blowing special effects! Keep in mind that Michael Bay did music videos too. lol

If it's anything like the script reviewed over at AICN, it will suck horribly. Aliens and Predators invading the modern world and using our streets as a battleground could be really cool, but as described it sounds ******ed.

Special Effects guys becoming directors? All I can think of is Mark Dippe on Spawn and Phil Tippett on Starship Troopers 2!

Anythings better then Anderson
As much as I hate Anderson's work I have a strong feeling that this new guy is gonna take the franchise to new lows.

How do you go from the directors of Gladiator, Terminator 1 and 2, Legend, and Die Hard to the guy that did Mortal Kombat and some music video dude? wtf?

The only way AVP2 even stands a chance at being decent is if they move it to the future on an exotic planet, and have a big fella in there to duke it out with a predator.

Who knows, maybe these guys are the next big directors just waiting for their shot to burst out into the public eye.

Well they have to start somewhere. Besides what all this backlash agaist directors who worked in effects. Jamies camaron used to be one as well. Worked on escape from new york I think.

say what you want about anderson. he's a bad writer, not a bad director. he's got a great visual style, and makes really good looking movies.

still, he managed to make AVP look like total crap

and that's just the screenwriting

ROFL I love AvP.

I did too man

But hiring a non director is always a bad idea...I liked RE Apocalypse in a trashy bad fun movie kinda way, but the director was terrible, and I get the feeling that's what might happen here :(

I want to see a AVP set in the future with colonial marines (ala aliens). Thats all I ask for.

At least we know Lindsay Lohan won't appear in it.

It sounds like this Director is not known enough for her. So I doubt shed do it anyway even if asked

I acutally agree with that 100%.

If only he could take out the ******ed moments in his movies (alice kung fu fighting zombie dogs in re, all of alice in re apocalypse and the terrible hand to hand nemesis fight, and the bit with the alien tail and armour in avp). It seems like all his scripts need at least on totally ******ed moment, its like his mark.

But he is a very competent director (event horizon was fantastic).

To some of you above, you realize this is two guys right, not just one? It's two brothers, two directors, not one director.
