We will find out in just over a week with the Wii events to be held in New York London and Japan.

Expect somwhere between $175 and $250.

First bits of Resident Wiivil info
September 2nd, 2006

A bit of info from REHorror…

news 248 1Voice actress Tara Platt is to do Jill Valentine in the upcoming RE:Wii game. She confirmed to us that the game will feature zombies (or at the least, zombie-like enemies) and plant creatures, as well as a wide array of weaponry. The fact that Ms. Platt was aware of the weapons in the game infers that she is voicing a playable character and is not just doing a cameo. Jill being the main character increases the likelihood of seeing Carlos or Barry turn up as well.

There is also a bit of unconfirmed info coming from Gamespot’s community…

Read this from a games magazine in HK today - its called Biohazard : Umbrella Corp Chronicles and fills in the story on Umbrella before and leading to BH4. Gameplay is a mix between using the Wiimote as a light gun and BH4 style elements e.g. action buttons pressing X for a dramatic scene. It features scenarios from BH1 (museum), BH2 (police station), BH3 (raccoon city), BHCV and BH4 (village) and ties in the gaps especially BHCV and BH4. Characters include Chris/Claire, Leon / Ada, Jill / Carlos, Rebecca, Hunk and Wesker . There are two gameplay modes - scenario mode and arcade mode. Proper announcement to be made by Capcom at TGS

We do know that the Chinese magazine HK was due to print info on Resident Wiivil on September 1st, but I cannot confirm that the above statement is true. To sum things up, the Jill Valentine bit is 100% true, and the Gamespot info is very likely. Thanks to Temp, Creamsugar, and Granvillekidd for the heads up.

This is exactly what I was hoping for when I heard about the Wii. Now just keep the camera (it was perfect, I will not tolerate anything less) and give me a shotgun pod for the wiimote... and a working chainsaw... for... uhhhh... garden art... and we're all set.

...and I won't have to do all those bad things to the people in the basement that mr. fuzz fuzz keeps telling me to aaaaaaaaanymore...

I'm glad that the Resident Evil game for the Wii will at least be incontinuity with the series.

However, put Resident Evil 5 on the Wii too dammit!

I am glad this isn't RE5. I want to buy a wii to get a different experience to the other consoles, not to have the same game with h a gimmick.

This game alone will make me pick up a wii, especially if that rumour about it going back to old school RE is true

Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles revealed
Wednesday 13-Sep-2006 12:10 PM Events leading to Resi 4 to be revealed? Well, so say reports - and more besides

Capcom somewhat inadvertently has unveiled a new Resi title, Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles in Japan, according to reports from Japanese games bible Famitsu (Biohazard is the Japanese name of the series for those of you not in the know).

Details on the game are currently sketchy, but it's being suggested that Umbrella Chronicles covers Umbrella's story/operations prior to, and leading up to, Resident Evil 4 and that it additionally fills in plot blanks between other existing Resi titles.

In connection with this, there's talk of locations from previous games in the survival horror series being included, and with Producer Masachika Kawata who was responsible for Res Evil 4 and Onimusha in the frame for dev duties, it might well be the Res Wii-ville we're salivating for - or something else entirely.

How on the money these details are, we can't say, but it's reckoned Capcom will fully unveil Resident Evil on Wii at the Tokyo Game Show later this month. Whether Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles is one and the same or an entirely different Biohazard covert op, well, there's not long to wait and see

Image can't be seen :(

speaking of wii, is it backwards compatible with gamecube?

Potential spoilers and details but just rumours for now

Biohazard Wii indepth Extensive information on the gameplay and content of RE:Wii has surfaced.

-The game consists of 4 "chapters", RE1's mansion, RE2's RPD, RE3's city areas and RE4's village (plus surrounding areas).
-Each chapter has 2 characters to choose from. RE1 has Jill and Chris, RE2 has Leon and Claire, RE3 has Jill and Carlos and RE4 has Leon and Ada.
-There are several characters that can be unlocked by playing through the game: Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker.
-The gameplay of all chapters is designed around RE4's. Press the B trigger on the wiimote to go into over-the-shoulder view, aim with the pointer and press A to fire.
-The game will have QTEs, but rather than push buttons you have to make motions with the wiimote in order to get through them.
-All characters will have mêlée attacks, just like RE4.
-To encourage replayablility, each character has strengths and weaknesses, similar to how in RE4:Mercenaries Ada had the least health, Krauser was the slowest, etc.
-Just like in RE4:Mercenaries each character has a unique set of weapons. What's more players can only carry 2 weapons at any one time. Chris gets a pistol and shotgun whilst Jill gets a pistol and grenade launcher.
-You will be able to find several new weapons during each stage. For example, RE1 will have Richard's shotgun, RE2 will have the Desert Eagle, RE4 will have the Chicago Typewriter. There will also be new weapons like Krauser's anti-personnel robots.
-Similar to Devil May Cry 3, after each chapter you can save your data and any new weapons picked up will be available for use in Arcade Mode.
-Arcade Mode is like a giant Mercenaries minigame. No puzzles or story, just pick a character and a stage and blast through it. Building on the resounding success of Mercenaries seen when RE4 was released.
-Scenario Mode will feature a large number of ingame cutscenes.
-New content not in the games that the chapters were based on will be added. The primary goal of this will be to link RE4 and Umbrella's status in it more closely with the rest of the series.
-Ammo conservation will play a part in the gameplay, so it's not just constant action like RE4.
-Trailer coming at TGS.

Sounds really interesting. I just hope it all holds together in a cohesive way.

360 and Sony can keep RE5. UC sounds a helluvalot better.

Considering that we haven't heard anything substancial about RE5 yet REWii doesn't sound better or worse.

Anyway, I'll be picking up both RE games, I'm pretty sure.

Yeah. There has been nothing about RE5 at all except from that one trailer however long ago that was.

I'll be picking them both up for sure.
