No Way Home No Way Home Rumors, Leaks And Speculation Thread (Potential Spoilers Ahead)

I like Tom Holland as Spider-Man but Tobey is definitely my favorite out of the three. I just feel like Raimi nailed the tone and feeling the best. My biggest issue with MCU Spider-Man is a lack of emotional weight and it just feels too lighthearted/jokey. The only scene involving Tom as Spider-Man that IMO comes close to the fantastic scenes of the Raimi trilogy is him dying on Titan at the end of Infinity War and his lines to Tony Stark.

In non-Spider-man movies Tom's fine. It's just that the Spider-man movies are so wide of the mark.

It wasn’t directed towards you BUT I have heard people use the “logic”talking point as to why they dislike the organic webbing instead of just admitting they don’t like it because it’s not from the comics. Pretty similar to how people hate Goblin’s look in Spider-Man 1 because it’s different even though the wrestling singlet and talking mask look from the comics makes zero sense and would’ve looked even worse in live action.

I wonder how Goblin is going to look in NWH
whether it was directed towards me or not, that would be my response to whoever tries to make the argument for it. there is a reason why his webbing isn't organic in the comics to begin with. Stan & Steve knew what they were doing

I wouldn't say the Green Goblin look was criticised for being different, it was hated for looking goofy in its own right. The original 60s comicbook Goblin looking goofy doesn't deflect criticisms of the Raimi version. Not that I have seen people asking for a direct adaptation of the original Green Goblin.

This is all true as well, but again I think this all comes down to Sony wanting to play things as safely as possible. Minimize risk, maximize familiarity.

I was only 11 when the first movie came out so I was too young to have a knowledge of what people around the world thought of Green Goblin but at least among the group of friends I was with, we all thought he looked pretty fine and there weren't much discussions surrounding the design of his suit - at least that I knew about. Obviously I can imagine if that movie had come out now, there probably would have been a bigger thing around it but being a kid at the time you were kinda shielded from that stuff (which I think is good).

But as someone who has read the comics for decades, I always felt Green Goblin for as great of a villain as he is - would be almost impossible to portrait in a movie with a suit that looks faithful but also not goofy in some way. They tried to go the mutated/physical look changing route with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and that was even more controversial than the Raimi look I'd say. I would sort of hope the next time we see him we get the green and purple that we know from the comics but it's one of those things that works well in cartoon form but hard to translate to live action. You can give Peter a colorful suit and it would be easy to accept but you try to give a silly looking costume to Norman Osborn and the 'force' he is - and it's different.

Severely disappointed in the internet for giving us all these delicious Flash leaks but nothing for this movie. For shame, internet, for shame.

TASM 2 Goblin look didn't work because it was awful, not because it's impossible to adapt a comic-book accurate look to the big screen.

Lets be honest, if they do a more faithful Goblin, Marvel will use CGI to make it work. it certainly won't be a practical thing. Marvel likes to use CGI for everything.

He was implemented horribly into the movie from a story perspective and visual perspective. He’s too important of a character/villain to share the spotlight. They should have either gone Electro/Rhino together or centered the movie around Harry.

The only positive with him is the clock tower fight at the end. Fast paced, visually amazing, great music, beautiful choreography and oozing emotion/desperation with Gwen. Wish it was longer though.

Dafoe's awful suit didn't work because it looked stupid not because people wanted a direct translation of the comic.

That's such a cop out.

The idea of an armored flight suit is a good one. There's a million different ways to execute that idea. What Raimi came up with was awful.

He looked like a giant action figure. Not to mention covering Dafoe's face was a mistake.

That is honestly my biggest fear. Marvel have done a lot of good things with their movies and for the most part I've really enjoyed the ride (especially coming to the conclusion with Infinity War and then Endgame) but if there's one thing that's seriously grinding my gears it's the heavy focus on CGI. Black Widow for example was completely dragged down by its CGI action setpieces. :/

No idea, but it would make sense to release it during the lull in Marvel news post Loki's finale.

Still not hopeful we'll get anything until September. August will be out of the question since Feige wouldn't want NWH to overshadow What-If, and the same thing with Shang-Chi in early September.

They're going to pointlessly drag this out for as long as humanly possible, mark my words. Mid-to-late September with Let There Be Carnage is when they'll most likely release it, I am that pessimistic right now.

The longer the wait the worse it might get. Then again I have a growing feeling that no matter what's in the trailer, I think enough time has gone and people have built up what they think the movie will be in their heads, and I don't think the movie will actually be that. Even something like Tobey and Andrew appearing, we have rumors/theories about them being integral to the final act (but not showing before then) but I also wouldn't be surprised if we don't see them at all.

For all the teasing and including Molina and Foxx again, it could backfire on them as well.

I was 12 when the first movie came out, and this is all the same for me too

I, nor any of my friends or family, even batted an eye at the GG costume, and myself and everyone I knew all loved it. It wasn't until later, years after and frequenting the internet, that I learned a lot of people didn't like/hated it lol

I totally get why some people didn't like it, but even to this day, I'm still perfectly fine with it, and actually love it and love everything about how Raimi/Dafoe did Norman/Goblin

Eh, I think you're being too pessimistic here. Molina pretty much confirmed he'd be playing Raimiverse Ock again and I have no idea why people are twisting that as him lying/trolling. Foxx being quiet after confirming he'd be back for NWH and kickstarting the whole "is NWH a Spider-Verse movie?" debacle is telling.

As for Tobey and Andrew being in this movie or not, ViewerAnon's word is the only one I trust 100% and he stated that they'd both be in it. That's enough unofficial official confirmation for me.

People need to relax with that trailer. Don’t get me wrong. I was one of those people going insane for the trailer predicting it would be this week or next months ago. After this much time has gone by though, I’m just kind of indifferent to it at this point. It hits when it hits. Makes the wait easier when you don’t allow your mind to get all crazy with this ridiculous wait and no date for a trailer drop on the horizon.

The funny thing is, when it drops some fans will be like “See I told you!!! I was right! The trailer did come out!!!” after predicting a release date over and over.

All the possible release trailer dates….

LastDecember….
Toms Birthday….
WandaVision post credits
Tobys bday
Then all the nonsense months back with theaters getting the trailer
Black widow opening trailers

Now we are in the trailer after Loki phase And we are moving into the trailer appearing before Venom sequel phase lol.

Again, fans in general just need deep breath and to relax.

I think some people are just tired of all the trailer release nonsense. For me personally, I’m
Holding out hope that that everything is true but I won’t lie, there’s a bit of fear in the back of my head that this movie will just be more of the same. Horrible suits infused with magic aren’t really doing my psyche any favors either. So I can’t really blame anyone for being hesitant to jump on board the entire rumor train with This movie. I mean, the real world has been kicking everyone’s ass this past year or so.
Faith and hope kind of been in short supply.

That Masion guy that tweeted it has been correct about Star Wars scoops in the past, just saying....

Not expecting the trailer to come in the next two to three months. Fully confident Sony is shortening the marketing window because of the pandemic so we'll just have to deal with the same repetitive discussions and secrecy until then.
