Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

The UI is crap. All these Godzilla movies deserve their own section just as much as Harry Potter, dammit. It's harder to find them all than HP by browsing anyway because they don't all start with the word "Godzilla." :argh:

EDIT: Cool that they gave Charlie Chaplin his own section, though.

EDIT AGAIN: Oh hey there, superior BBC mini-series version of Emma. Didn't know you'd be here. :hrt:

The sheer amount of content is just so overwhelming. I literally don’t know where to start.

Knowing my simple ass, it’ll probably be The Indian and the Cupboard lol.

Just browsed through my phone app. Looks good, moves nicely. The TCM section is pretty nice...not sure I would call Armageddon or Mr. and Mrs Smith "classics" tho :o
I was like 11 when it came out originally but is Six Feet Under worth a binge watch?

Patience grasshopper.
It's a good show but it's really really morbid. I never finished it because I found myself being just always being so bummed out after watching episodes. It's a great show, but it was too much for me.
No one really talks about it anymore strangely. It is really good
Huh, the HP movies are on HBO Max

Strange. I could've sworn I read an article yesterday that said they wouldn't be on there.
I already have the Blu Rays, but that's cool.

Still very surprised that they haven't announced any other films or a TV show set in the Wizarding World. WB is really wasting potential there.

The love for that show runs deep with people my age and a little older. It's socially acceptable to like it unlike other shows targeted at families from the same era.
Fresh Prince is my personal favorite show of all time. And I still see people who weren't even alive during the show's run love that show. Same thing with Friends, The Office, or even movies like Star Wars, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones. These things have generational staying power. I don't get why bring up "it went off the air 25 years ago" when it's clear that there are plenty of things that are still very popular today even when they went off the air or stopped showing in theaters decades ago. That's just silly

Six Feet Under is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched and has one of the greatest endings ever....but it gets really depressing. I dont think i’d ever rewatch it for that reason but i’d say its a show you should at least experience once.

The top 2 in the country are good news for HBO Max: Most Popular Show in Every State During Coronavirus – Variety

And Ozark is tied with *gasp* The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Hmmm you know it's funny. Last week, I got into 2 separate arguments where people swore up and down that the primary reason people people sign up for these services were the exclusive original content. I said and backed up with the limited viewership numbers and the fact that if original exclusives were so important more emphasis then why don't most services launch with more originals and instead focus on gaining big shows like Friends or the Office.

So here's another article, with admittedly a limited scope when it comes to timeline, that shows that the most popular shows are for the most part: a) currently airing on terrestrial cable, b) currently airing but you can watch past episodes on a streaming service (ala SVU or Chicago PD), or c) shows that ended a while ago but are still powerhouses (Friends, Parks and Rec). If I'm looking right, I think Ozark is the only exclusive original streaming show on there.
In this time when many people have more time to stream where they can probably stream something new if they really want, they're still watching a, b, and/or c.

Original content is very important too, but it still shows that getting that built in fanbase is still more important because that's what people are watching in the long term. We on here may not care about certain shows. For example, even with every episode being on HBO Max, I have no interest in watching TBBT or Friends. But I realize that a lot of people do whether they were alive for the original run or not.

This just needs The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and maybe a Toonami collection down the line with Dragon Ball Z and Yuyu Hakusho and this service will be damn near perfect.

I'm surprised that they just don't roll all their anime efforts under the "Toonami" name. Especially since Toonami was a lot of people's introduction to anime in America

I’m not losing any sleep over it but I wonder why Birds of Prey isn’t on here yet.

DC and Cartoon Network library looks pretty thin for now, but I am loving the fact Fresh Prince and Looney Tunes (remastered) are on there.

I think because Crunchyroll is just a more pooular name today. A lot of modern anine fans don't even know or care about Toonami, while BOTH old and new anime fans are pretty aware of Crunchyroll. Toonami doesn't really have the reliable pull and clout anymore like it did in the early 2000s. Anime in general has unfortunately kind of outgrown it. Also I believe Studio Ghibli is a strong enough brand to stand on its own.

LOL I think I might have very stupidly (double) subscribed (HBO and now HBO Max). As I've been complaining about before, I have HBO via Xfinity and they still don't have a deal for their subscribers to get HBO Max for free. But because I have FOMO, I decided to try the HBO Max app (because why not??? maybe I can sneak in! ). It asked me to sign up with my Xfinity log in details which I did and I was able to get in. And now it says that I will be billed through Xfinity. Ooops...? I guess it's Ghibli marathon time! But really.... SCREW YOU XFINITY! :p

ETA: Ok, maybe I’m in luck after all! :awesome: Whew.

Wow, so they have they have the theatrical cut of Justice League? lol. I thought they were going to hold off on putting any version of the movie until Snyder’s version was ready for release, and that will be the version HBO Max goes with.

So is Batman: The Animated Series supposed to eventually end up on here? Seems like a pretty obvious one to have ready to go on day one, kind of surprised it’s not there.

I'm assuming it's because it's already on DC Universe.

I assume eventually DC UNiverse will be rolled into HBO Max. Because it was always a weird move to have two separate services.
And then maybe they'll add a tier of HBO Max so you can access the comic stuff

What happened to South Park? I thought it was one of the Day 1 titles? They really dropped the ball with some of these titles
