Wondering what the forums thought of the movie.

I know we had a lot of haters, people that didn't like the leaked version, people that thought it deserved a chance, and fanboys in the forums the past few weeks...so my question is this:

Now that you have seen it in theaters, what did you think of it?

It was terrible. They only throw one punch in the supposed "epic" end fight?! I'm sorry, I would write more but my brain just turned to mush.

went in with low expectations, yet pleasantly surprised. It had it's flaws, but all in all, it wasn't that bad. It really could have been alot worse.

I saw it today, or yesterday, since it's 4am now. It felt rushed, peeps, piccolo's definitely not given enough screen time, but the parts of it that worked, worked fine... You have to really remember the source material to give this movie a fair viewing in my opinion. The original dragonball manga is just ridiculous. Talking animals and crazy **** going on... When viewed in that context, the movie's a pretty decent adaptation since it too is kind of randomly crazy. If you've never seen dragonball anything in your life before seeing this though, you'd be lost, probably thinking it was a spiderman rehash or some ****.

What sucks:

Piccolo is just your typical power ranger villain, nothing more nothing less. Not that he wasn't that in the toon and comic, but at least there he had more **** to do besides say cliche villain lines. He wanted to be younger etc. then wanted to get revenge on those who trapped him. Good motivation. This piccolo wants to Destroy the world? That's it? Oh wow...

Last battle. Horrid. I blinked and it was over.

Otherwise, the score's very good. Chatwin really sells goku at points, not so much at others. Yamcha's fun. Bulma's Bulma, can't fault rossum. She plays her well enough. I'd have preferred we gotten a few sexy bikini shots or bunny outfit or something. Bulma's known for changing outfits constantly yet she wears the same **** all throughout the movie. Surprisingly Chung as chi Chi is great. She's just completely perfect even though she's not doing much in the story.

Well that's that. I thought it was a decent first movie and am hoping for a sequel that'll really go to matrix levels of extreme action. Cuz what we got was extremely tame. I want to see Vegita toss a planet at Goku.

That most you'd see in a sequel to DB:E would probably be Goku throwing a pebble towards Vegeta and thats about it.

It was incredibly silly and corny and the acting wasn’t great but I loved it! I felt like a little kid again watching the cartoons still. I think it might have sparked a renewed interest in the show for me. I think people need not compare it too the Marvel and DC movies. It’s a BIG mistake doing that. You also have to remember its Dragonball not DragonballZ. There was a huge difference in the two shows, when it comes to action and blood and gore.

Let me stick up for this thread.

The other two threads are RIDDEN with "i saw the bootleg and this is what I thought" posts.

I started this thread because I wanted to hear comments on the people that actually went and saw it in the theaters.

Well Bartenderjam i thought it was a decent Martial arts film like the forbiden kingdom kinda corny but man i love that ****. i think people were thinking it was going to be the next matrix so they got there hopes up. it was a corny cartoon and so is the movie. Personaly i liked both the cartoon and the movie (never read the manga)

Oozaru is Piccolo's acolyte, who transforms into human as a baby and came to earth. That makes me lol!
Dragonballs are not from Namek but from 7 outfits

Goku is an american schoolboy instead of a chinese-like warrior adventurer as in manga.

Did I enjoy this movie? YES A WHOLE LOT.

I went in having already accepted that there would be changes to character personalities and story line and I really enjoyed the movie.

I do hope there is far less cheesy dialogue in the sequel though. Also, a bigger budget is definitely needed for DB movies.

How they greenlight **** like this and pass up on truly great scripts, I will never understand.

It was definitely a heavily diluted and heavily altered DB, and it looked like it was both made in and written in 1989. The lead was a terrible actor, and James Marsters as Piccolo had about three seconds of screen time. In the end it is a bad, bad movie.

But I was never bored. This movie has some entertainment value and there was an actual romantic chemistry between Chi Chi and Goku. And it did have a lot of source material to work with, didn't do too badly to encapsulate the story of the dragonballs.

It could have sucked a lot worse.

i think film is terrible dialogue and script are just awful the CGI is so damn cheap. It is like that gave them enough to make sure they get a profit back instead of making sure they gave them enough for it to be good.I could offorgave the story and characters if the actio nscenes were apic matrix style but they were terrible .How i nthe hell can this movie be 85 minutes logn with q 50 million udget when it hsould of been 2Hrs long with a 80-90 million budget .

This movie was laughable. Dragonball was epic and deserved an Epic Director. I mean, James Wong? REALLY?! This movie should've had a 100+ Million budget and a director like Peter Jackson. They should've done it right or not at all. Instead they half assed it and gave us yet another atrocious movie debacle that will be made fun of for years to come...and to think they actually thought they were going to get a sequel made for this thing?

Dragonball: Evolution of Suck came and went unnoticed by virtually all movie goers because they felt the lameness right away. You can't keep people away from great movies, word of mouth spreads too fast.

My ten year old self is crying right now. Oh what could've been...
