Im stuck on it being better then X-2 or not as good..I think its just that people had so many hopes for this movie that it would be SOOOOOOO GOOOOOD and then when they saw it, it was kinda a let down..thats why i went into the movie thinking it was going to be bad and it turned out to be great.

I went into the movie thinking it was going to be horrible, and it ended up being worse than that.

I could have should have been amazing. Which is one reason why I think I hate it more than I do. Still the worst by far though.

Better than X1, not as good as X2...

BUT...this one had the thing the other two lacked...being decently done fight scenes...

X3 and X2 are my favorite. Hard to choose right now.

Worst of the 3

When the movie ends showing three graves of X-men before it goes off, is very VERY bad. It killed the movie for me.

best of the 3. All the character development was pre-established. As a trilogy it gave a climax that out did anything seen in the previous 2.

i didnt care about the lack of cyclops because singers cyclops was different than the comics. He was never a central character.

I think all three films were great. Yes, the third strayed from the comic book storyline but it had too. You can't tell the Dark Phoenix tale the way it was told in the books in one movie. Plus, ever since the first movie, people have been complaining about this character not being used more and that character not being used more. This one used a lot of characters. Did they mean there wasn't as much time to devote to each one. Well, duh! In my wildest fanboy fantasy, there would be series of movies, one per month, in which all the great stories and all the great characters could be fully realized. Here in the world of reality, I think they did a great job of making an exciting movie based on the comics but not trying to adhere to staying completely true to 40 years of books.

x1 was a basic simple story more or less, had issues such as backstory and everything but managed to get it done and in a relatively short time

x2 took it to the next level, introduced a more complex story at the same time, delving more into these characters

x3 went for a simpler storyline much like in x2, but it failed to capture the emotion you felt from x1 n x2, the special and f/x worked for the film but things such as character devlopment was poor (the main casualties of this are cyclops, rouge, colosus, and angel IMO and thats only the good guys) , the pace of the movie was totally off, certain scenes should've been longer. you clearly felt that they wanted to try to stuff as much as they could into this in terms of characters and i think the movie suffered for it. x2 introduced us to nightcrawler and stryker, both were fleshed out and executed properly, but to be fair i enjoyed the new characters of beast and kitty, angel was good as well but his role was far too small and like most of the movie disappointing. the phoenix sub plot, was just that subplot, it bordered on being a sub or major plot, either way it was executed poorly considering the wealth of comic background that couldve been used, but if jean really just wanted to kill herself because of cyclops. then in that sense her story works for her.

the action and everything was good but I just thought the acting in general was off, it may have been the script, but some of the things they said was just off and I don't know how the hell halle won an emmy or what ever it was she won was he acting was severly sub-par. The movie in general I though was awsome though.

I have to say worst because although it had a ton of more action than X1, that alone is'nt enough for me to put it over X1. and there's no comparison to X2 IMO.

Not at all...
And x-3... I just don't want to watch it again. It wasn't good enough to ever know by heart.
With x-1 all I wanted was to watch it again and again.
So x-3 is the worst. No doubt.

I see what you are saying, but I don't think it was the acting. I think each character was written out of character. Storm had the least troubles, but the rest really seemed like they had to play different people. This is mainly true with Jackman and Stewart.

It's close. I mean, I view all the movies, while having continuing arcs great individual stories.

X-MEN was a terrific introductory film. And as an introductory film it was amazing. The conflicts were all there:
-Love triangle between Scott, Logan, and Jean.
-Scott as Xavier's number one student/friend
-Eric and Charles history and rivalry and the Malcolm X/Dr. King Parallel.
-Hints at Logan's shadowed past and the rivalry between him and Scott.
-Wolverine vs. Sabertooth, twice
Great cameos
-Colossus (drawing in the gardens)
-Jubilee (in class)
-Kitty Pride (talking to the Professor)

I mean, for the budget, constraits, and overall this was a good film, and a great X-men movie.

X2: X-men United:
This was a terrific continuation, but also a great core story. The idea that the government would be so blind to what was going on within itself in terms of attempted Genocide (In the USA!) is so original, and perfect for X-men.

Again, we see more great tips of the hat, more vital comic-based conflicts, and great continued character arcs:
-Jean's power begins to evolve
-Scott still as Xavier's most trusted (they visit Magneto together)
-Continued love triangle with Scott, Logan, and Jean
-Pyro and Bobby start as friends and there begins to have great tension
-The Weapon X story
-God Loves, Man Kills adaptation
-Mastermind
-Nightcrawler
-Nightcrawler and Mystique

X3: The Last Stand
Again is a solid continuation of the story. While it doesn't present adaquate time for all the characters, non of these films did. And for the characters that were developed, they were developed well.
-Jean emerges fully evolved
-Scott dies to symbolize just how insane and irrational the Phoenix is
-Storm goes from second in command to the leader in the wake of Scott's death
-Xavier becomes more radical, and believes that what he did was absolutly right
-Magneto and Xaviers' relationship is spot on
-Callisto vs. Storm rivalry is portrayed
-Pyro has a tremendous role....he's awesome in this
-Angel and Colossus, while not utilized fully were great
-Beast was perfect
-Juggernaut was awesome
-Mystiques arc was powerful

Cameos by the likes of:
-Multiple Man
-Spike
-Syrin
-Jubilee
-Artie
etc

Basically these movies had an underlyin continuing story:
Movie one- Preperation for war, Mutants attempt to strike first before the humans have a chance to really know of their existance.
Movie two- Humans retalliate, radically and without mercy.
Movie three- A cure is found and while it could have altruistic goals, it is used as the human's defense against the mutants. This becomes the final straw and the long antisipated war begins.

So as individual movies, they are great, as a whole they are great...it's hard to judge them really.

I'm relieved to see 60 percent of people feel X3 is better than X1.

I actually think, its about the same as X1. While X1 was better dramatically, X3 was better as entertainment (mindless entertainment at least). X2 destroys X3 hands down though.

I've read and read the comics. i've seen all the movies and watched all the cartoon shows. X-men the last stand is just clearly the best movie.

The cure is a fascinating idea raising complex ethical questions of how to use who will use and for what cause. The movie did great in giving us an idea some of the possibilities.

Young Warren's seen in the bathroom is very effective. Showing such self hatred that we have all felt some way or another and try to get rid of it, in his case this self hate is manifested physically in his wings.

Magento's video to the public parallels terrorists and the scare that we have felt in recent times. This was more "real" than anything shown in X1 and X2.

The question of power is a running theme in this movie. It corrupts absolutely. The themes are more interesing than were in X1 or X2.

Not enough character development? We had that in the first two movies. Now it was time for them to actually do something instead of beating around the bush.

Ratner or Singer? Singer directed exceptionally in X1 and X2 and could be more talented, but Ratner brought an old school X-men vibe that Singer's movies always lacked. I felt the characters were closer to their comic counter parts, thanks Ratner.

Kudos to Joss Whedon whose run on Astonishing X-men really gave Zak Penn and Co. a great outline for this movie, too bad Penn didn't take some of Whedon's dialogue because that was a big fault in this movie.

"Do you not know who I am?? I'm the Juggernaut B****!" - perhaps the best part in all three films.

There will always be something lacking in a movie, there will always be people who are not satisfied with the movie. As for me, I think that X3 was the best of the last two movies. One thing that I noticed was that they portrayed Wolverine as the leader of the X-Men towards the end IMO.

It is with great sadness that I write this but...

Worst of the three.

X1 had plenty of weaknesses, sure - 'meh' final showdown, Toad...but at least we had some character development and consistency.

Great points! Well said!

Best of the 3!! If X2 wasn't so boring from the point when Magneto "lands" the Blackbird until the Wolvie vs. Lady Deathstrike fight, then X2 would be closer!
