Oblivion Assistance

I'm having trouble with a quest in Oblivion. I'm playing with the XBox 360 and I'm a 10lvl Spellsword (Redguard race), and I'm doing the Forlorn Watchman quest.

The boss who is some kind of ancient ghost in the bottom of the ship is almost impossible to kill. Any suggestions on what I should do?

The big purple boss? I beat him level 4... I don't really have tips, I just saved right before the battle, and eventually I got lucky.

Yeah, that guy. I've also heard from other people that some of the bosses are easier to beat when you're lower level because they are to. That makes sense what you said. Did it take you many times to kill him, and what kind of character do you have?

It took me like 4 times to kill him, eventually I just used that spell (Forget it's name) That boosts your power, agility and a bunch of other stuff, and then it didn't take long for him to fall dead before me. I'm a Redguard aswell.

YOU NEED EITHER A SILVER SWORD/DAGGER, OR AN ENCHANTED WEAPON WHICH DOES DAMAGE TO GHOSTS/UNDEAD. ASIDE FROM THAT, YOU JUST NEED DECENT COMBAT SKILLS, AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE.

SAME AS THE WRAITHS........ENCHANTED WEAPONS AND/OR SILVER. JUST DON'T LET THEM GET CLOSE TO YOU, OR YOU'LL GET INFECTED.

YOU'LL FIND A SILVER DAGGER IN EVERY MAGES GUILD; JOIN ONE, AND YOU JOIN THEM ALL. ANYTHING YOU FIND LAYING AROUND IS FREE, ONCE YOU'VE JOINED. YOU'LL ALSO FIND SILVER SWORDS OF VARIOUS TYPES WITH ALOT OF SKELETAL WARRIORS. ENCHANTED WEAPONS ARE A LITTLE TOUGHER TO FIND, BUT THERE ARE MANY IN THE GAME. THE BEST......OR ONE OF THE BEST ANYWAY.... IS 'UMBRA'; IT DOES 11-28 DAMAGE (DEPENDING ON YOUR LEVEL WHEN YOU GET IT), AND SOULTRAPS.

IF YOU'VE GOT DECENT BLADE AND BLOCK SKILLS, YES. OTHERWISE, YOU'RE BETTER OFF WITH RANGED WEAPONS/ATTACKS.

F**k blade weapons, join the mage academy thing and get a lightning staff. He should go down in a few strikes. I was struggling through Oblivion until I found out how kickass magic weapons are during a mission where you have to go into that guy's dream and get his mind things back.

I'VE GOT OVER 1000 STAFFS IN MY INVENTORY, THANKS TO THE CLONE CHEAT........BUT I NEVER USE THEM. IT'S JUST MORE FUN TO BLOCK/PARRY/STRIKE.

i just tried to kill him with my silver dagger, and he would not die.
and where can i find this lightning staff in the mage guild?

That should do the trick. Only way to beat Ghosts / Dead Guys in Oblivion

That happened to me and now I have to feed off poeple and I can't find the five grand soul stones so I can have this spell taken off of me.
