with a poll!

My choice is Brian Blessed

Oops, forgot an "Other" option. Would a mod minding adding one?

Can you add Anthony Hopkins, please. :woot:

And maybe even Sean Connery

And make it multiple choice too. lol

What's the point of Multiple Choice polls? I don't see one

Because we may have more than one choice, like in the Thor poll. It's about which candidate is liked by the most people.

This has to be one of the toughest polls i've had to choose from, seriously. Too many great choices. Chewy be damned!

Sadly, I only know Brian Blessed as Clayton from Tarzan. But I loved his voicework in that.

Brian Blessed, though I'd be fine with Branagh, or Stellan.

Stellan for the All-Father :woot:
Vladimir Kulich would be my next choice.

I actually like Stellan for the role...He is underrated as the mentor type. He was very good in Good Will Hunting.

Kenneth Branagh will probably get it, but Stellan would be cool as well.

As fun as it might be to see Stellan as Odin if Alexander Skarsgard is cast as Thor, Vladimir Kulich just exudes "Odin" so much that I can't think of anyone who would be better in the role.

How can we forget John Rhys-Davies?

He would also be great for the voice alone. Although I think I would prefer to see him as Volstagg if we had the choice. His voice can be used for great comedic effect.

You know what I've been thinking?

According to that AICN scooper (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/40410), Odin has a very small role in the movie. Having read the first draft, yeah, I kinda agree with that. He has like 10-15 minutes of screen time.

It sort of reminded of the Marlon Brando situation in Superman: The Movie.

What if they're thinking big, I mean, really big, for the Odin part? Alexander Skars is not really well known, so it fits getting a huge star for a small but important part, just like Donner did with Brando in S:TM.

Just a thought... but it could happen. My question is: who is that big of a name today?

Anthony hopkins or Sean Connery coming out of retirement. I think that's as big as you get. Marlon is rather untouchable.

I hear ya. If they could get Connery back to work, the movie would get a lot of mainstream attention.

That's been my Odin point. Splurge on this role even if it's short like Marlon/Superman and I believe the audience will increase.

Honestly, if the name wasn't an issue (but it probably will be), then Kulich is the best option. I mean, he was damn near mortal Thor in 13th warrior anyway and the best thing about the film - So since he's too old to be Thor, make him Thor's pappy!

But they will need a name, so how cool would it be if Connery was interested and chosen. So cool. I can dream can't I?

Honestly, I wanted Kulich as Thor initially. I know, he's in his 50s, but I always thought Thor's face, regardless of his immortality, should show the weight of age.

In any event, I would go for Stellan, simply because from what I've seen of his acting, I think he could pull of the subtly manipulative, *****e bag, what Loki would be if he were true Neutral instead of Neutral-to-Chaotic Evil, controlling father side of Thor which is, by far, my favorite aspect of the character.
