So wow, I guess Aonuma really did need to clarify that about Zelda U coming to Wii U. Reading through various other places, this idea that Zelda U has been canceled and moved fully to the NX is actually an idea. I could see it being moved to be a launch title (granting the NX is a home console and not a handheld) ala Twilight Princess, but they aren't going to totally cancel the version of the game that they announced, showed, and have worked on for the majority of its development. It's like people have never seen a Zelda delay before, it's...just crazy.

The only reason people are spelling doom and gloom is because it's been happening recently. Pairing it up with the Wii U's failures is basically more ammo for them.

Hyrule Warriors Update Adds A Classic Tunic For Link. June 17, 2015 . 12:32am

An update for the game adds a Classic Tunic costume for Link to the list of skins.

Hyrule Warriors Legends
is coming to the Nintendo 3DS, but this week Nintendo also stealthily released a tiny update for the original Hyrule Warriors for Wii U. Zelda Informer reports that an update for the game adds a Classic Tunic costume for Link to the list of skins.

Whether or not more DLC is scheduled for release on Wii U in the future is unknown, but the 3DS version is getting new content such as Tetra and the King of Hyrule (both from The WindWaker) as playable characters. It would be very surprising if these weren’t released for the Wii U version at some point.

There’s also been speculation that Linkle, a female variant of Link, will be added to Hyrule Warriors Legends, based on the appearance of a crossbow in the original leaked trailer for the game. In her original artwork, Linkle is seen armed with one, although obviously her appearance hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Is All About Teamwork. June 18, 2015 . 11:02am

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is like a Four Swords version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The E3 demo had three players, armed with different items, work together to complete a dungeon.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is like a Four Swords version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The E3 demo had three players, armed with different items, work together to complete a dungeon. In the demo I tried, two players had the Gust Jar, an item that shoots a blast of wind, while one player had bombs.

The controls are what you would expect from a Zelda game, but what makes this game different is the degree players have to work together. In The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure players could run off on their own and there was even a competitive aspect of collecting the most rupees. Players need to be a functioning team in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, since the group shares a life bar. Everyone wins or everyone has to start the dungeon over again. Levels are designed around the different items each player has, too.

In the very beginning of the dungeon I played, the trio of Links had to split up. One player needed to use the Gust Jar to send two of the Links over a pit. Then the Link with the other Gust Jar can send the player carrying bombs over another gap. With all three players separated by bottomless pits, the player with bombs can use their item to hit a switch which eventually opens paths for the two other players to move forward.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes also has a new totem technique where you can stack three Links on top of each other. Making a totem is necessary to reach higher platforms and to toss Links across gaps.

Later in the demo, all three Links had to step on a platform that moved when a Link used the Gust Jar like a rocket engine. Each time the Gust Jar was used, the platform would go forward a little bit. Links with the Gust Jar had to move the platform in a spot for the bomb player to toss a bomb to hit a switch. Still on the platform, all three Links had to trip another distant switch with a bomb.

For the second switch, we had to from a three Link totem with the bomb player on top. Since all three players were right next to each other, we could talk about where to stand and who should pick up whom. We still ended up throwing one player into a pit, but were able to move on after that.

After completing this portion, I wondered how difficult this could be if all three players were online. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes supports download play (sharing a game locally with one cartridge), local wireless, and Internet play. Online players can only communicate through emoticons, though. You can send messages like a Link with a thumbs up, call players with a Link shouting over here, and ask to totem with another icon. These emoticons look like they are sufficient for solving that puzzle, but I’m not sure they would work for the boss battle.

The boss fight has players battle two bomb throwing enemies. The problem is, these monsters are protected by a pit so you can’t slash at them with your sword. Instead, the Links with the Gust Jar need to use their item to blow bombs back to the monsters. Our group found it was easier to have the bomb player set up bombs for the Gust Jar using Links to shoot at the two monsters.

Teamwork, that’s what The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is all about, but I don’t know how we would have been able to discuss that strategy only using the emoticons. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes also has a single player mode where you can control one Link and two paper dolls to go through dungeons solo. I didn’t get to try this mode out and a representative said the game doesn’t have a two player mode. It’s either three players or single player.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is scheduled to come out this fall.

Hyrule Warriors Legends Will Also Add Some Story From The Wind Waker. June 18, 2015 . 2:03pm

In battle, Tetra uses a pair of cutlasses to slice up enemies, and will excel in close-ranged combat with her blades

Nintendo revealed during this year’s E3 that Hyrule Warriors is headed to the 3DS as Hyrule Warriors Legends. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shares a few more details on what else is new in the game.

In addition to having all the characters including the DLC characters from the Wii U title, Hyrule Warriors Legends will also add two new characters in Tetra and King of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Hyrule Warriors Legends will also add new story elements, including one that is based off The Wind Waker as an addition to the 3DS game, and will focus around Tetra and King of Hyrule.

In battle, Tetra uses a pair of cutlasses to slice up enemies, and will excel in close-ranged combat with her blades, and can also use her pistol to shoot down enemies from a distance. She’s said to have pirate-like swiftness in her moves.

We’re not too sure how King of Hyrule fights, but the screenshots show him using wind-based attacks in his normal form, and what appears to be his King of Red Lions’ ship form, as he wipes out enemies with a wave.

Hyrule Warriors Legends will release in Q1 2016 for Nintendo 3DS. You can catch its E3 trailer in our earlier report.

Nintendo Haven’t Decided Where In The Timeline Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Is Placed. June 18, 2015 . 3:31pm

Here we go again.

Here we go again. The inevitable timeline question that accompanies every Zelda reveal has come up once more, this time directed at The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. In an interview with director Hiromasa Shikata, Game Informer popped the question, and here’s what he said:
“That’s a tough question. The Zelda timeline is ‘complicated’ and if you look at the history of Zelda you will see there are three branches. I can’t really designate which one of those branches we’re looking at, but as far as the design itself, we looked to Link Between Worlds. But it’s not—as far as a timeframe—it’s not before or after. We haven’t really settled on that.”
So, just where in the timeline the game takes place hasn’t been settled upon yet. Ultimately, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it end up in the same timeline as A Link Between Worlds, just because they share such a similar aesthetic. In the meantime, let the theories ensue.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes will be released this Fall.

So, I don't know if this is confirmed 100% or not, but apparently the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors will be dubbed the Xtreme Legends version of the game and will have all of the DLC content, and as well as an addition to story mode that will actual integrate the Wind Waker characters into the story.

Neat. Do we know how different the 3DS version is from the WiiU version? I don't have a Wii U, but I'd like to know just for knowing's sake.

Content-wise, I believe it has all of the content of the base Wii U game as well as it's DLC. It also has two new characters, Tetra and King Red, from Wind Waker as well as their own part in story mode added.

Tech-wise, I don't think we know the exact details yet, but I do believe it's said to be targeting running the same framerate, and has a more cel-shaded look overall (think Smash 3DS vs Smash Wii U, for instance). From the few videos we've seen, it does seem as if there's significantly less enemies on screen at once, and that the draw distance is much smaller than the Wii U version.

Awesome that it's all the same content. I'll pick it up for 3DS for sure.

http://www.geeksnack.com/2015/06/19...azine-scan-showcases-new-characters-and-more/

I did some searching to see if I could find confirmation about the above. Apparently, it will be called Hyrule Warriors Legends, not Xtreme Legends. I also can't find confirmation that all of the DLC content will be in the game, but Young Link and Tingle were shown in scans, so at the very least all of the DLC characters will probably in even if the Adventure Maps from the DLC won't be.

But regardless, it'll have all the content of the base Wii U game and added story for WW characters for sure. That much is confirmed. Since the DLC characters are in, I'm sure the other content will be as well.

As long as it's the same base content, I'm happy. All the DLC stuff that they add in is just icing on the cake.

Thanks, TB.

yeah, he said the new content would serve as an "epilogue" for the Wii U version. Good stuff in my book!

I'm looking forward more to Hyrule Warriors 3DS than I am that Triforce Heroes one. Hyrule Warriors is totally a play for a few minutes while on the train or waiting for a movie game.

New Legend of Zelda Manga Announced. July 2, 2015 . 4:37am

Akira Himekawa, who authored The Legend of Zelda manga series from Ocarina of Time to Skyward Sword, will be returning to launch a new Legend of Zelda manga.

The Legend of Zelda’s official Japanese Twitter page made a surprise announcement that Akira Himekawa, who authored The Legend of Zelda manga series from Ocarina of Time to Skyward Sword, will be returning to launch a new Legend of Zelda manga.

Akira Himekawa is actually a pen name used by two female manga artists who’ve been working together since 1991. They’ve chosen not to officially reveal their names, but currently go by the individual pen names of A. Honda and S. Nagano.

This will be the first time they’ve written for the series in seven years.

Play 'Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' on your Wii U

At long last, you can play one of the best Legend of Zelda games (often considered the best) on your Wii U. Nintendo has released a Virtual Console version of Ocarina of Time for its latest TV console on the eShop, giving you an easy way to relive Link's classic time-traveling adventure without taking your dusty old Nintendo 64 (or original Wii) out of storage. You might not relish the thought of plunking down $10 for a 17-year-old game, especially if you've already bought it twice, but it beats watching a groundbreaking title fade from memory.

Legend Of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Trailer Shows Totem Power. September 4, 2015 . 12:15am

One of the most important moves in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is the totem,
which is kind of like the Tower Attack from the Disgaea series.
[YT]urLfoOQCYxw[/YT]
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes brings back the cooperative multiplayer gameplay from The Four Swords and adds online multiplayer for three Links. One of the most important moves in the game is the totem, which is kind of like the Tower Attack from the Disgaea series. One Link can pick up the two other players so you can reach switches or attack tall enemies. Link can also get costumes like a Goron suit which lets you stand in lava and a samurai outfit.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes has 32 stages with classic Zelda weapons like the bow and the Gust Jar that shoots a blast of wind. A change from The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords is some levels only have one of each weapon, which means players have to work together. All three Links also share one life bar and if you run out of hearts the entire team has to restart the stage.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes comes out on October 23 in North America and Europe.

Hyrule Warriors Legends adds playable Toon Link
Published 2 mins ago. 0 comments.

"Wind Waker" story added to Legend Mode.

Toon-Link-HWL-3DS-Add.jpg

Toon Link will be playable in Hyrule Warriors Legends, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo’s upcoming 3DS version of Wii U’s Hyrule Warriors, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

The new character joins previously announced additional playable characters Tetra and the King of Hyrule. All three are from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, which originally launched for GameCube in 2002.
Toon Link has a free-flowing battle style, moving swiftly as he swings his sword. He won’t be playable in Legend Mode, but he’ll be available in other modes. Of course, just like Tetra and the King of Hyrule, Toon Link will also be playable in the Wii U version via the 3DS game.

Famitsu also reveals a new “Wind Waker” story for Legend Mode. Tetra will be playable, and the King of Hyrule and The Helmasaur King will also appear.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is due out for 3DS in spring 2016.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

Hyrule Warriors Legends ‘Toon Link’ details, screenshots

Toon Link joins Tetra and the King of Hyrule.

Hyrule_09-11-15_001.jpg

Koei Tecmo has released first details and screenshots of its newly announced Hyrule Warriors Legends Toon Link character, Wind Waker scenario, Hammer item, and Ocarina Warp system.
Get the information below.
New Character: Toon Link

Hyrule_09-11-15_002.jpg

Joining Tetra and the King of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker in Hyrule Warriors Legends is Toon Link.
Toon Link wields a one-handed sword in battle, which he uses to freely attack enemies as he quickly moves around the battlefield. He can jump high, and from the air draw out his Deku Leaf or slam his sword.
By purchasing Hyrule Warriors Legends for 3DS, you’ll also be able to use Toon Link in Hyrule Warriors for Wii U.

New Scenario: Wind Waker

Hyrule_09-11-15_003.jpg

There will be a new story based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Look forward to seeing how all of these characters like Link, Tetra, and the King of Hyrule are interwoven in the story.
Of course, there will be a new stage that reproduces the world of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. You’ll find homages to the game all throughout the map.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker‘s Helmaroc King will also appear as an enemy. His sharp beak attacks are powerful enough to gouge the ground. Countering these attacks will be your key to victory.

Hyrule_09-11-15_004.jpg

New Item: Hammer

Hyrule_09-11-15_005.jpg

The Hammer will appear as a new item. Slam it down with all of your might to stun surrounding enemies. And it’s not only useful for attacks—you might also need it to solve some of the stage’s gimmicks.

New System: Ocarina Warp

Hyrule_09-11-15_006.jpg

The familiar Ocarina item from The Legend of Zelda appears as a new item in Hyrule Warriors Legends.
When you play the Ocarina, a tornado springs forth, and you can warp to one of the Owl Statues scattered throughout the battlefield. Depending on the situation, and combining this element with the “Player Change” system, it allows for greater strategy in battle.
