Twilight Princess was my favorite :(

I mean, I like the game itself fine, it's a fantastic game, but the muddy, "gritty" visuals I've always been mixed on. I guess it part of the style, but it really isn't great to look at.

WW was probably the better game, but I'm still waiting for a nothing Zelda game with the gritty, realistic look of TP.

The last thing in the world I would call the look of TP is realistic.

I mean, I pray you know no one who actually looks like this:

Or this:

Well I mean realistic in the sense that Link looked didn't look like a cartoon or animation, like he has in most other 3D games, including the newer ones.

But yeah, looking at those pics ... it's definitely been a long time since I played TP.

I don't know, Link kind of still looks very cartoony to me in TP. I would say most of the characters do really.

I guess you basically just mean not cell-shaded in nature, which yeah, but TP is pretty stylized I think

The textures in TP were definitely more realistic, but character design not so much.

It's been a while since I really played the game to see, but I always felt that compared to the recent games, it didn't seem as cartoony ask SS or WW. Although look at it now, I think the darker colors and contrast may have more to do with that.

I've just really wanted to see a Zelda game that looks as good as the tech demo.

The new game looks closer to SS and that's a big turn off for me.

I don't know, honestly they all look about the same besides Wind Waker to me.

The new game, visually at least, is my favorite of the bunch so far.

Maybe it's just the overall tone/lighting then. I'll agree that TP looked somewhat dirty, but I love how the tech demo looked. It was cleaner but still dark. Kinda like the Unreal Engine videos that have been going around.

I think it is mostly the lighting, because the TP, SS and tech demo models are almost identical outside a couple of tweaks here and there. Obviously, the Wind Waker and Zelda U models are different since their style is far more exaggerated

Skyward Sword has been my favorite visually so far, but if the new game looks anything like its tech demo, that's definitely taking the top spot.

The footage shown so far of Zelda U is in-game footage I'm pretty sure.

Nintendo has released a new trailer introducing the story of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

The HD remaster of the GameCube and Wii game will add a new dungeon through the Wolf Link Amiibo included with the retail version.

Here’s a brief overview of the story, via Nintendo:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a critically acclaimed masterpiece, set in a massive world bursting with life—but also shadow. A dark figure from the Twilight Realm has invaded the world of light. As Link, a farmhand turned cursed beast, you’ll join forces with the impish Midna, the Hyrule Resistance, and trusted (albeit unusual) allies to survive a quest that will take you to the farthest corners of Hyrule and beyond… to the Twilight Realm.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is due out for Wii U on March 4, 2016 in North America and Europe and March 10 in Japan.

TP is my 2nd favorite Zelda game ever and WW is like my 5th favorite Zelda game and so when rumors of TP HD started I was excited has I thought it would look like the tech demo and I also thought yes we are going to get are first realistic art style Zelda game in HD has I prefer more realistic art styles. How ever after seen TP HD it doesn't look like the tech demo and hardly even looks better the TP did to the point where it is hard to even tell there is a differences and the game cost $60. 60 for a remaster is just upserad when you see other games out there where you get a remaster of like 3 games in a collection for that price. Yeah WW HD was 60 but I also thought that was crazy and really only got the game because target was doing a buy 2 get 1 free at a time where I really only had 2 games I wanted to get. So really I got the game for free. But the TP HD for 60 is even more crazy then the WW HD 60 because WW HD had a much bigger graphic jump then TP HD did.

That trailer spoiled SO MUCH! :argh:

:p

Do you mean the tech demo for the Wii U, or the dempos they showed for Zelda U? Personally I'm not a fan of that one because Skyward Sword looked like they took the TP model and added a little of the color/lighting from WW, but the new game looks like they went full blown Windwaker with the SS model It almost looks even more cartoony.

Well I just looked at some comparison shots, and while it looks nothing like the Wii U tech demo, you can see some improvement. I'd say it's like going from 480 to 720 though. It's alright, but as a visually stimulated person, I'd prefer and expect a jump similar to what we've seen on PS4 with games like the Uncharted Collection.

Why was anyone expecting Twilight Princess HD to look like the Zelda Wii U tech demo in the first place??

If I'm following you correctly, were you really expecting this remaster to redo the entire game in the engine of the tech demo? I don't know if you realize just how much work that would entail. At that point, they would basically have to just full out remake the entire game, it would take even more work than the OOT and MM 3D remakes since it would involve remaking the models of characters and levels.

Why you would expect that I don't know. Wind Waker HD was basically just a HD res bumped version of the original with some tweaks here and there to make the game better. No reason anyone should expect much more of that from this.

EDIT: And I do realize you guys aren't being literal when you say realistic, but...that tech demo doesn't look realistic at all. Like, none of the stuff that's been posted from TP or that have a realistic look. I get that it's being used as more of a stand-in for 'not cartoony', but I'm not sure it's the right term.

Sorry I meant the Zelda U footage. It looks like a watercolor painting come to life. I love the colors.

Yeah I like the look of Zelda Wii u has while. It kind of looks like a combination of SWS, TP and WW.

I expected that because really the tech demo looks very similar to TP so I don't see how that is expecting to much so I don't know why you wouldn't expect that and has I said its not just that but you can almost not even tell the difference between TP and TP HD where with WW there was a much bigger difference between WW and WW HD. Also if you look at the dophin computer thing with TP it looks much much better the TP to. So really you expect people to pay 60 for a game where you have to stugler to even see that it looks better? So I don't think expecting TP to have a similar jump to that is expecting to much. TP, Wii u tech demo and ocarina of time are the 3 Zelda things that I would say have a realistic artstyle.

Why was anyone expecting Twilight Princess HD to look like the Zelda Wii U tech demo in the first place??

Because thee tech demo basicly looks very similar to TP in the first place. So I don't know why any one wouldn't expect that.

Because that would require a from the ground up remake of Twilight Princess. New game engine, new models, new everything, I can understand disappointment that they didn't do more to improve the games appearance, since the Wii U definitely could, some lighting enhancements, water effects and the like would probably have been doable, but something on the level of the tech demo just wasn't ever going to happen, not for a remaster.

I don't know, we've seen Uncharted 4 and how it will look on PS4, and even though the Collection doesn't look as good, they are still much better, in both look and feel, compared to their PS3 versions, and those enhancements were made by a third party developer.

I think Nintendo was more than capable of making some enhancements to TP. Maybe not as dramatically as the tech demo, but definitely areas like lighting and textures.

I don't see how it would take from the ground up when it is already a similar look. Now if it was a different art style then sure.

Having a similar visual style doesn't magically make it similar on a technical level.
