Industry standards have become so strange to me... Always online DRM, no manuals, install to hard drive, expensive DLC, games focusing on the cinematic more than the actual gameplay... Strange times.

Most Nintendo games do. Smash, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Mario Maker etc all have a manual.

So I guess the question is: do you buy Nintendo games often? :hehe:

Only played an hour before I had to leave for Logan, but the game feels great. The game looks great on the Wii U, if you guys were worried about getting it on that instead of the Switch. And I like how the voice acting is to a minimum. I haven't been following this game too close, in order to avoid spoilers, but I was worried about the voices. So far, it's text for Link and other people I've encountered. I've only heard Zelda narrate little portions, which is fine.

So far, so good. :)

I totally forgot I had this pre-ordered on the Wii U, and it just shipped despite me getting a Switch and Zelda with it. I was thinking of returning it, but I think I'll keep it even if I never open it. It feels weird to say, but it feels really, really weird to have a Nintendo console without an original mainline game. It got plenty of Zelda love with WW HD, TP HD and HW, but it feels like a real hole is in the library without BOTW there.

Anyway, I haven't got around to playing the game yet. Won't get much a chance until after this weekend. I did get the Guardian amiibo, thing is ****ing amazing looking.

I don't know how many of you got a Switch, but there's some disheartening stuff coming out about that version. Apparently, portably the game runs fine, but while docked, for whatever reason, there's some serious framerate drop issues.

The Wii U version isn't mentioned in this video, but an earlier video they did said that the Wii U version runs basically like the portable Switch one, but still suffers a few drops here and there.

The problem is trying to render it on a larger screen I believe. More work for the console, especially trying to hit 900p. The Wii U version being 720p might be a good thing oddly enough.

Yeah, you don't hear about it in portable mode, because it runs at 720, same with the Wii U. It's when it's trying to run at 900 is when it get's a bit crazy. I've been hearing that for a few days now, but wasn't sure if the day1 update helped anything.

And does that dock actually help with performance, or is it just an HDMI adapter that charges the system?

oh yeah both the EPN.tv and easy allies (formerly know as the reviewers from game trailers) Review video's mentioned the dips in frame rate problems that I put up the page over with the round up of the rest. I'm just mentioning they said it.

Not that any has to see it. so anyone that choose to get weirdly lippy it's good thing i'm Removing my self from any thing awards wise since this that such problem. it's all good.

I thought the dock was suppose to give a performance boost, but I really don't know for sure. If this is an issue with Zelda, I could see it being as issue with other games down the line as well

it doesn't sadly it just stream it to the tv monitor and is a charger for the tablit & joy cons. and there was a processor that was supposed to help with this. but Nintendo couldn't wait for it as it didn't' coincide with the date they planned to launch switch. which most likely would have cause problem if they pushed the switch back just for that processor. it doesn't stop it from being an awesome game regardless.

It is actually just a fan that lets the system run faster and hotter than it could in handheld mode.

I've been playing for a couple hours. It's fun and a game where I don't feel pressured to move on to something else, I can just explore.

I was wrong about the WiiU gamepad. Sadly, it's used for nothing during gameplay. No map or anything. So no loss if you got the Switch version.

Yeah, the Wii U version demsontrates just how much they gave a **** about the console... really took advantage of the old pad, didn't they? I was hoping for that one last exclusive feature from them... but nope :hehe:

They actually ripped out the Wii U pad functionality. Probably to avoid having the obviously better version on the Wii U. Not joking.

It's true :hehe:

Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, they fully utilised the gamepad's capabilities, and it was a much welcomed thing. This is has just brought things back to sqaure one, which is hugely unfair to system owners. I love the game, but they could've seriously done some good with using the pad. I'm sometimes getting confused with these menus and button combos, etc. The pad would've definitely helped a lot in this case... but we don't want to get one over on the Switch, do we? :/

I've been playing the game for about six hours and it's the closet the series has ever come to recapturing the feeling of the original game. No ********, it just drops you in and you go. No hand holding Fairies (at least not yet anyway), barely any tutorials, its really ****ing cool. I have never been more pleased with a Zelda game. I feel like they actually listened to a lot of my criticisms.

After six hours for me as well I'm still at the beginning plateau area, and there is so much I still did not grab there. I spent an hour cooking, and having a blast. The hype is real on this one, it truly has raised the bar on open world games. Every single inch has so much to it. The joy I get cooking certain foods to make my cold resistance go up when I trek up to a tall snow capped peak. Or figuring out how to climb up a mountain, which is incredibly fun. Just so much to do, so much variety, just so much.

This truly is the next big step in Zelda. Though I will have to wait until I'm done with it (which easily could be hundreds of hours) I think we may have a new contender up there with OOT and ALttP.

If you're stuck on the Myahm Agana Shrine...[blackout]You can flip the maze upside down[/blackout]

I'm really enjoying the Shrines. Seeking them out and figuring out the little puzzles is a blast. The exploration in this game is terrific too. I don't know if it's too soon to say, but this might be my favorite Zelda yet.
