had better action overall with Nightcrawler, The Mansion, Magnetos prison break and Deathstrike. Battle wise they have not had anything to top Deathstrike.
I will agree one vs one wise the only fight that challenges Deathstrike is Wolverine vs Shingen, I think if that fight had been a little longer it would actually be top. But in terms of raw anger and emotion, from both characters, Wolverine vs Shingen is right up there.
Yup. Quicksilver probably had the funnest action scene of the year for me, but DOFP's action outside those two characters were not that great. It was pretty ****** choreography with those battles. Thought the X-Men fought without showing skill once again with no communication. They just blindly hit the things with their powers most the time. Blink was the only one using any sort of strategy. Then we get the pretty much redundant scene of Magneto raising and drop something, along with playing remote control Sentinels. What a waste of how to use Sentinels.
I do think the Sentinel fights should have had more to them, especially the future ones, I know they wanted to sell the bleakness of the future and how the Sentinels were an unstoppable threat, but it would have been nice to see the likes of Colossus and Warpath take at least one each down through sheer force, even Bishop could have really.
Agreed with GOTG as well. Could have used some better action itself.
The fight between Batroc and Cap alone crushes all the other battles.
Yeah the fight scenes in GOTG were disappointing, all of the space ship stuff was really good though IMO.
And yeah I loved the Batroc vs Cap fight scene, only issue for me is I dont think the fights with The Winter Soldier topped, and that was disappointing to me.
TWS vs DOFP vs GOTG is such a great argument because all three films are so great it is difficult to choose between the three. Each have great character moments, great sequences of action, and a great overall story. I am quite fond of the action in DOFP though as we really get to see X-Men being X-Men. I felt like all three movies were living comic books.
They are all great, truly great movies, that all offer something different, which means we as fans have been very lucky this year overall. When was the last time, if any, we had 3 truly great CBM's in one year? 2012 (Avengers, Dredd, TDKR) and 2008 (Iron Man, Hellboy II, TDK) are the only other years that got this IMO. And considering the CBM boom started in 1998, thats not an easy thing to do.
