Official: BLACK PANTHER is coming to BET!

I seriously doubt that, as that would take a MAJOR overhaul of the production, and it'll be like starting from scratch. I seriously doubt they have the money to do that....but here's hoping.....

I wouldn't be too surprised at all. Not necessarily switching to hand drawn or cgi, but maybe some upgraded model of Flash to improve what they already have. I'm no animator, but if South Park can make an episode about something that happened last week, this show should have been done a looong time ago.

I'm starting to feel like they know they're on the wrong track.

I'm not too keen on the animation but I only saw a snippet and I'll tune in to see if the first ep'll change my mind and hopefully draw me into the series

you're airing an animated show on a network, that IIRC, has NEVER aired any animated programming....and its a superhero that most non-fans have no clue about

They have aired animated shows before, a crap-ass Girlfriends-esque cartoon and an even crappier Friday cartoon(yes, an animated tv-series based on the movie). But I agree, when non-comic fans see Black Panther they think that he was inspired by the friggin Black Panther Movement.

I remember reading about that...i know it didn't last long, but BET is totally the wrong choice...how many BET viewers are comic book fans to start with? much less fans to the degree where they know who Black Panther is?

I think that ghastly Friday series was on MTV, actually. I think the other show you're referring to was like a micro-series; running tim ewas less than that of Robot CHicken.

Hell, for that matter, how many people who really watch BET are that much into reading at all?

BET, back in the day, was a decent network, but ever since that 'koon', Bob Johnson sold it to Viacom it's gone to ****s. The chick that they have running it now, doesn't know what the **** she's doing. When it comes to blacks, it seems like Viacom just wants to keep us dumbed down with music and comedy shows/re-runs. Hell they don't even have the news anymore with Jackie Reed, or that show with Ed Gordon. The network has sunk down to nothing more than another tool for keeping us negroes dumb and ignorant. :cmad:

Even TV1, another network that caters to African Americans, have more intelligent programming than BET, and it's a new network compared to BET, which has been around for decades.

Put BP on Spike or HBO. I foresee BP being canned after it's first season.

I may wait for the dvd release of this one.

"No one can stand in my way of destroying black people!"

Boondocks would have failed big time on BET, because I honestly think it was too smart for the room. Something like that, you honestly need part of the white populous to watch if you want ratings.

the BET audience would have probably taken offense and complained about it

Plus they would have bleeped out the n-word. I love how the network that had no problem showing some the nastiest sexual **** put to film bleeps out profanity in shows and movies.

i remember when they used to do BET uncut and show underground videos...one of the gems that scarred me was a video by a 'rapper' with the name of Waxamillion and the song was "I ain't got no panties on...on the dance floor" and it had like average hood girls in the video....it was a visual trainwreck

'Twas a slight better than the Black Jesus video with the 40 y/o stripper giiving lapdances with *** boogers on her ass.:csad:

But as far as Black Panther goes, this show is going to fail. As I stated earlier, these ppl are gonna go into this thinking this has to do with the Black Panther Movement. On top of that, BET's audience is not exactly looking to be entertained by a cartoon outside of a Kanye West video.

Watching BET would make Dr. King Do a facepalm.
BET is the Epic Fail of cable networks.

I think the main reason we won't see a Black Panther show yet is because it's so intelligent it keeps making the executives heads explode on the test screenings.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Entertainment_Television#Criticism.2Fcontroversies

Public Enemy rapper Chuck D,[8] journalist George Curry,[9] writer Keith Boykin,[10] comic book creator Christopher Priest,[11] filmmaker Spike Lee[12] and cartoonist Aaron McGruder (who, in addition to numerous critical references throughout his series, The Boondocks, made a particular episode criticizing the channel), all have protested BET's programming and actions. As a result, BET heavily censors suggestive content from the videos that it airs, often with entire verses removed from certain rap videos.[1][2] The channel also censors some of the programming it shows. Profanity such as words like "*****" are often censored. "Enough is Enough" is a group led by the Reverend Delman Coates that has devoted much time to protesting BET under the grounds that much of BET's hip-hop videos are degrading.[1][2] It backed an April 2008 report titled The Rap on Rap by the Parents Television Council that claimed that BET rap programming, which they believed contained gratuitously sexual, violent, and profane content, was targeting children and teens.[13] Furthermore, scholars within the African American community maintain that BET perpetuates and justifies racism by affecting the interpersonal beliefs others may generalize about African Americans, and also by affecting the psyche of its young viewers through its bombardment of negative images of African Americans.[14]

I don't know what's worse the fact that she's 40, or the boogers...:o

Now my question is: why the hell isn't it in the U.S yet?

And btw, the reviews for this have been horrible, so far....

its below average at best

I agree. Yeah, that technique of just animating 2D comic art was fine in the sixties, but that's because they couldn't do anything more advanced. If the studio couldn't afford to do something more contemporary, they' shouldn't have done it. And the voice acting is beyond atrocious. Their voice acting director probably doesn't know what they're doing.
