Blade Official Blade General Discussion and Speculation Thread!

I did not no. Last marvel movie I saw was no way home I believe. Didn’t watch any avengers movies after ultron. I’m a dc guy
You are a bit behind then.

They aren't doing a Blade movie that isn't set in the MCU. And how would you even market that movie?

See, I'm biased, White Men is one of my favorite comfort movies, I've watched it too many times, but I get where you're coming from.
I love the movie. But I never can buy Wesley as a street baller. He is certainly fit and athletic, but he just looks like he doesn’t know what he’s doing when he’s balling.

Fun fact: my voice is deep as hell, but I can do a great Rosie Perez impersonation. But I digress.
I don’t believe you. You need to upload video to prove it.

By the way, on the topic of New Jack City: I don’t think that here has ever been a good guy character who was more punchable than Judd Nelson’s character. I hate him in that movie.

Also on the topic of New Jack City, whatever happened to Mario Van Peebles?

After that film, he was a hot commodity in Hollywood as a director. And personally, I really enjoyed Posse, even though some didn’t. I thought it was extremely cool how stylized it was.

I see where he has directed a lot of television in recent years and did a crappy looking movie with Nic Cage, but nothing of any scope.

I’d like to see him pull a Terrance Malick ala Thin Red Line and release something that reminds everyone how brilliant he can be.

if you want to make money you bring back snipes. People are into nostalgia right now. Just make it dark and have a good villain. Bring back Reynolds as Hannibal if you must. But keep blade the focus

The kind of mainstream success Giancarlo Esposito is getting now should be the same energy given to Mario. He was everywhere back in the day.

It wouldn't have been my first choice, but you do have a point about nostalgia. As an alternate plan, I'd get Snipes back, recast the Dr. Karen Jensen character from the OG movie (or get N'Bushe Wright back) and cast Storm Reid as Blade's daughter.

Blade and Brielle find a contrived way into the MCU and fight off Dracula and giant CGI bat.

marvel owes snipes for helping get marvel movies on the map.
Not really. Spider-Man and X-Men were already in the works when Blade came out.

Also I doubt many saw Blade in 1998, because it was a Marvel film... The movie earned around $70 million at the North American box office, which isn't even higher than the budget for X-Men 1 ($75 million) and Spider-Man 1 ($139 million).

Just because it was the first Marvel film to get sequels, it doesn't mean it kickstarted several Marvel movies.

If blade flopped it might’ve been a domino effect I’m not seeing X-men or stopping the production on those films

Batman & Robin didn't affect X-Men, which was just 3 years apart from one another.

Blade flopping would have no effect on X-Men 2000 as Blade wasn't even popular as a superhero back then. Blade 3 flopped in 2004 and it was in the same year we got Spider-Man 2 and then Fantastic 4 the following year - both were successful at the box office. Elektra didn't do any damage to Fantastic 4 and X3 as well.

Superhero movies back then didn't affect one another's performance at the box office, unless they were under the same franchise/ip.

Nah I think that's exactly what they're planning. After D&W, I think the chances of that happening are even greater than before.
Further than that, I think he's going to be the new anchor being

I'm more interested to know if they already have a working script ready for filming.

Or if a director is the only thing missin' and we know how most mcu movies work.

We known this will get an R-Rating, but I wonder what Kind of Rated R would it be on the level of Echo(TV-MA) or Deadpool? Echo even thought it is more violent than other MCU projects but to me it was the Softest R-Rated material I ever watched while the recent Deadpool and Wolverine was def an HARD R. What do you think?

I really hope Snipes replaces Mahershala. I have no interest in him in the role now that Snipes has returned. I don’t even want to see the movie unless Snipes is back. Legacy and tenure mean a lot to me.

Wesley is only important right now at the MCU because we are in the Multiverse Saga. But when its over, there's nothing really bad about a new actor taking over the character and Marvel Studios giving Blade a clean slate. The original Blade movies weren't even that good to begin with.

More like Deadpool & Wolverine. Though I don't really remember much from Echo now. It literally came and went.

No real surprise here.

Marvel Studios’ ‘Blade’ Removed From 2025 Release Schedule, Disney Dates ‘Predator: Badlands’ Instead

In what comes as no surprise, Marvel Studios’ Blade won’t be coming out on Nov. 7, 2025, rather Disney is opening 20th Century Studios’ Predator: Badlands.

The reboot of the famed Wesley Snipes Marvel movie was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 with Oscar winner Marhershala Ali starring. Production and development on Blade hit unavoidable delays with a global pandemic and dual industry strikes.

The projet saw two directors exit, first Bassam Tariq, who was eyeing a fall 2022 start, then Yann Demange. Mia Goth is set to play supervillian Lilith in the vampire slayer movie. She told Deadline’s Natalie Sitek at the world premiere of her A24 movie MaXXXine, that in regards to the Blade delays, Marvel “really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”

We will have to study how they managed to fumble Blade of all things.
And the fact that Michael B. Jordan is coming out with his vampire movie before Marvel can even begin production on their vampire movie.

Blade is a niche character that worked as a vehicle for Wesley Snipes (and I think only the first one is actually well-received, maybe the second). Ironically, the success of that first Blade movie created expectations to do something different but just as good. However, the only reason Marvel greenlit Blade is because Mahershala Ali wanted to play the character. But Ali comes with different expectations than Snipes. He, himself, probably has some of those expectations. I don't think Mahershala Ali wearing leather and sunglasses quipping one-liners and killing a bunch of vampires would have worked as well and it likely isn't what they were going for. But they don't know what they're going for anyway.

Think about it. Let's say there have been no previous Blade movies. You have the old Tomb of Dracula comics, plus any Blade comics that were created afterwards. You have Mahershala Ali who is 50 years old and has won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor. What's your take on the character that builds on the strength of the comics character and the strength of your lead? It probably doesn't involve comments about anyone ice skating uphill, that's for sure.
