Yes, its really quite a mess. It sounded like the film was really ready for filming then they pulled out at the last minute.

At this point they are simply better off waiting to establish him in the next saga, which has been described at mutants and supernatural stuff

Till then, you’ll get Wesley Snipes in the next two avengers movies and be happy with it

Feige told Varietythere have been “three or four” iterations of the “Blade” story, two of which were period pieces. “We’ve landed on modern day,” Feige confirmed. “Which is why we could give those costumes back to Ruth, and that’s what we’re focusing on.”

Speaking of “Sinners,” despite the internet’s desire to see it, Feige said Coogler is not in the running to helm the picture (and seemed surprised that anyone was pushing for that to happen). The filmmaker has “Black Panther 3” to focus on, which Feige confirmed is in progress, though no date has been revealed. “We know [when on the timeline it is], and if he’s telling you he doesn’t, that’s perfect,” Feige said with a knowing smile.

Basically Feige wants to complicate it because he's not interested in making a straightforward Blade film. He wants to shove in as many MCU threads as he can. Which is what I always suspected.

One of the things to bear in mind with Marvel is that your film is a small cog in a large machine. And that machine has got to keep running. And you need to make sure you can fit into that timeline at the right time to benefit the bigger picture. That's one of the challenges we're facing [with Spider-Man 4].

"Sure, you can be in a Midnight Sons Disney+ project, but the other characters will just be calling you on the phone."

Well we had John Krasinki as Mr. Fantastic as a 1 and done in Multiverse of Madness.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else is playing Blade in the reboot.
