Blade Official Blade General Discussion and Speculation Thread!

There's really no need for both of those movies at this point.

-Dr. Strange 3
-Black Panther 3
-Shang-Chi 2
-The Fantastic 4: Second Steps
-Deadpool & Wolverine 2
-X-Men

Marvel Studios have tons of other possible projects for the next 4 years, than a Blade movie. And I don't think moving away from an Ali-led Blade movie, to proceed to a Blade 4 movie with Wesley, would instantly solve their problem with developing a Blade movie, especially the previous Blade movies aren't even great to begin with, to give them that extra push (inspiration/motivation).

Get Ryan, Rhett, Paul, Shawn and Wesley to develop it. I'm sure they would come up with something better anyway. Blade is much more in line with how Deadpool has been created the last decade.

They are better off working on a Deadpool & Wolverine sequel.

I agree with you there. The post was somewhat in jest.

The point I was making is there are actually people in-house who could make a great Blade film. That won't happen because Feige is in control and has to have his fingers in everything.

I'mma be honest, the idea of a Snipes Blade 4 is just...depressing to me.

The MCU has taken so many steps backward since Endgame when it comes to what made the MCU work it's lowkey ridiculous. The way forward is not with nostalgia baiting with actors from 20 years ago. It's just not sustainable.

We are unfortunately at that point where a recast is in order, considering by usual movie schedule standards Ali should be on his second movie now as a bare minimum. But I also don't see any Blade movie (that isn't Old Man Blade, I guess?) that can be done with Snipes that can't be done with Ali or a new actor.

It's a badass black dude who's half vampire hunting the crap out of some vampires. You don't need to get Snipes back to do that well.

I feel like there's just too much baggage from having Wesley Snipes lead his own MCU movie. I feel like Ryan Reynolds should be the sole exception (when it comes to outside MCU actors joining the MCU) since the first two Deadpool movies aren't even as old as the earlier MCU movies, and those movies were really successful at the box office and reviews. We can't say that to Blade, Blade II and Blade Trinity which date back to 1998 to 2004... Its crazy that Trinity is turning 20 this year.

Hugh Jackman is co-headlining the new Deadpool movie but lets be real, he isn't headlining a new Wolverine movie anytime soon. I think we should just be thankful that these actors were brought back and potentially coming back for Doomsday and Secret Wars, as there were many years that flew by, we thought their time on Marvel movies was over.

Nah I think that's exactly what they're planning. After D&W, I think the chances of that happening are even greater than before.

I hope not.

I really hope not.

Logan was such a tremendous bookend to Jackman's Wolverine and Deadpool/Wolverine in general is a phenomenal swan song for 2000s Marvel. Let that be the end of it, while someone else takes on the torch in the main MCU.

I'd begrudgingly accept Jackman appearing in Secret Wars if the rumours of the MCU getting a hard reboot are true. That way it's a solid passing of the torch

Honestly, Ali is not exactly a spring chicken either. So what Blade movie could be made with him that couldn't also be made with Snipes?

Yeah, I seem to recall being a bit surprised they didn’t go with someone younger than Ali when his casting was announced and that was five years ago.

Man’s fifty now.

As I said though

what Blade movie could be made with Ali or Snipes that couldn't also just be made with a new actor who can be the character for the long haul?

Ali was definitely on the older side but mid 40s isn't a death sentence as long as the schedule is normal. RDJ started filming Iron Man 1 at 42 and finished Endgame at 54. Ali definitely could've had a 10 year run if the schedule wasn't this tumulteous. Blade unfortunately just hasn't had a normal schedule. If we had a Blade movie every 3 years then Ali should have been wrapping up the second film by now. Unfortunately just didn't happen that way. Now's the time to recast

Snipes for blade and I love Ali as an actor but I know how much the character means to snipes and trust 1000 percent we’ll get a better movie with him in the lead

They probably just need to give Blade the movie a rest, and come back to it when they have fewer projects in development, and might as well replace Ali especially if there's a long term plan for Blade to headline several movies.

Wesley on the other hand... The Multiverse Saga has a deadline date. I don't see what benefit they would get for keeping Wesley Snipes as Blade for several more years after Secret Wars.

Honestly, since he’s done with the DCEU, I’d go with Aldis Hodge as Blade if Ali backs out. I love Ali, but I might go with Hodge over him anyway.

Snipes was good in the role, and his passion came through, but he’s never been a very good actor. I’m afraid you’ll always be limited when it comes to him.

Sir!

Surely you've seen his performances in Jungle Fever, New Jack City and Mo' Better Blues? At one point in time he was like the Pacino to Denzel's DeNiro as far as Black Hollywood.

But yeah, I'd love Hodge as a back up or just in the MCU in general.

Ok I don’t follow marvel. How are they explaining Deadpool fourth wall breaking and constantly joking? He’s just in his own little world?
The new Deadpool movie is in the MCU movie.

So how does relate to a new Blade movie not being included in the MCU?

How does Deadpool explain Chris Evans showing up as human torch and things like that? I don’t follow marvel and didn’t know he was in the mcu for sure.

They are in the Multiverse... the void portion of it.

Its obviously a callback to the previous Marvel movies.

And you see Happy Hogan in the film with Deadpool. Did you even see the film?

I’ve actually never seen Mo Better Blues.

Ok. So I did like him in New Jack City and Jungle Fever.

But the dude was a clown in White Men Can’t Jump and in Demolition Man.

I suppose, to your point, it really hinges on the material that he is given. Or, in the case of White Men, he was a bit miscast because the dude doesn’t move like a legit baller.

I did not no. Last marvel movie I saw was no way home I believe. Didn’t watch any avengers movies after ultron. I’m a dc guy

See, I'm biased, White Men is one of my favorite comfort movies, I've watched it too many times, but I get where you're coming from.

Fun fact: my voice is deep as hell, but I can do a great Rosie Perez impersonation. But I digress.
