Comics Official Fans of Reilly Thread - Part 1

Nice find Spidey-Dude. About time we had anything newsworthy. Let the Ben Reilly Return speculation begin!

But it's not Ben Reilly... it's the Ultimate version... nobody is waiting for THAT guy to return... :o

I meant during Spider-Island. I don't care who the new Ultimate Spider-Man is really... the concept of someone else as Spider-Man isn't something I'm at all interested in...

Waitaminute... the concept of someone else as Spider-Man that isn't Ben Reilly they clone... isn't something I'm at all interested in:) Seriously... black Ben Reilly the lab tech? boo.

EDIT: Oh and not boo because he is a black Ben Reilly. Boo because he is just some random guy with no real connection to Peter. To be clear... I'm ok with a black guy named Ben Reilly.

Woah.... nice catch, mcg031. What does everyone reckon that's about? Hope it's not another cover tease that has nothing to do with the interior...

Ben Reilly was great as Spider-man. Hell, he was a more interesting Spider-man than they give readers now. So, they shouldn't bring him back now. They should wait until Quesada Brevoort etc. is gone. We would just have the same thing we got now, a pointless boring character.

I guess the "important" information from the panel is:

2:25

The "one Clone Saga fan in the entire room" (his words) asked if Ben Reilly was going to come back anytime soon. Wacker: "No."
fb_share2.png

2:26

Wacker said he was a great character in a fun story, but there are no plans for him now.

and

2:47

Panel ended with that image, which appears to be the Scarlet Spider's hoodie on fire. No further information was given.

Well, I'm hoping at the very least they do some type of alternate reality story where Ben stayed the one true Spider-Man. I'd be down with that! However, the fact that it's burning has me worried but who knows...it could all just be a giant red herring. It's good that they're acknowledging it and with Jackal reappearing for Spider-Island it could bring back up those clone memories. Could just be another trip down memory lane for Peter and we just get Ben in the past.

Honestly, I'll take whatever I can get with it comes to Ben Reilly. :O

From what I understand, they poo-pooed the idea of Ben coming back the whole Panel, then ended it with a teaser of his burning hoodie? Really, Marvel?

A pointless boring character... yet you keep posting in a Forum dedicated to said character...

:whatever:

You're wrong here, TMOB. He could be a fan or Spider-Man, just not the character's current incarnation (He's not the only one who thinks the current Spidey is crap). He's obviously a fan of Ben Reilly so he deserves to post here for that alone. There's almost 50 years worth of Spider-Man stories to talk about. Why roll your eyes just because he doesn't like the one that's been around the last 2 or 3?

So because he thinks that current 616 Spider-Man is a pointless boring character, I have to read post after post after ad nauseum about how he thinks that said character is pointless and boring?

I think once you've made your statement, then move on and talk about something else. I get that some of you don't like post OMD Spidey... I've heard the complaints over and over... so move on and talk about something else... the constantr bad-mouthing is reedonkeylous...

:yay:

Yet they have taken the time to draw this up and bring it to the Comic-Con???? they came to tease & test the waters i believe last years Comic-Con someone asked about Ben and they said no they asked again this year they say no but to me that's PROOF something or someone is coming back. Lastly its a big hole not to have him back. They have Jackal back :csad:, they have Kaine back (AGAIN):cmad: and now they have a whole island of Spider Men/Women in NY  ?

Hey guys. Once upon a time there was an article (or a link to one) posted here that encompassed one author's contributions and experiences throughout the clone saga, detailing its inner workings ;throughout its entirety and commentating on its pros and cons. I've been looking for that link again to read it, and am having no such luck.
Unfortunately, I do not remember the person giving the interview, nor the site, nor anything that would be even remotely useful in locating it aside from what's listed above.
I know that it's not much to go by, but any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you're looking for the 'Life of Reilly' with some guy named Andrew Goletz and 90's writer/editor Glenn Greenberg giving a running commentary on the saga from beginning to end. It was originally posted in the early 00's, but looks like the original site is gone (or at least I couldn't find it). Fortunately it's archived in other places. Here's two of them I think:

Y'know with all the jokes about how the hoodie is so 90's, maybe the image was just showing that there would be no hoodie in the NEW Scarlet Spider costume...well one could only hope this was true...
