I had an interesting idea for a redesign of the Scarlet Spider: How about a hybrid of the Scarlet Spider suit and Ben Reilly's Spider-Man costume?

For example instead of the hoodie, how about a blue version of Ben's Spider-Man costume's torso?

That would kind of look like Blood Spider then...

How exciting! definately gonna look into buying this one. I havn't kept up to date with comics at the moment though, so i'll need to catch up with Spider-Island and that!

This definitely sounds interesting. I should probably read Spider Island first. How is Spider Island by the way?

The art seems rushed at points, but the story is great... though I would recommend reading the Venom tie-ins for the full story...

Yeah, Rick Remender's Venom series is a great companion piece to Spider-Island. I thought that Spider-Island started out slow. Too much heavy focus on Carlie Cooper but the latest two issues that came out were a serious improvement and ASM # 671 was really good.

Spider-Island kind of reminds me of those old school story arcs in the early 90's. Like the Round Robin, Invasion of the Spider Slayers arcs.

Those were good. I jumped on during the Venom: Lethal Protector mini and ended up buying those arcs pretty soon after to quench my Spidey thirst. I think the reason why I liked the Grim Hunt storyline was because of its similarities to The Child Within, which I think is a very under rated storyline (that I happened to be able to pick up in one of those grocery store packs, minus the the prologue, which I had gotten beforehand as a gift from one of my friends).

Has anyone noticed the similarities between Felicity Hardy's (from the MC2 universe) Scarlet Spider costume and the new SS?

According to Amazon on November 14th.
What I find more disturbing is that Amazon cancelled my order of Ben Reilly Epic Book 3. But you can now preorder Book 4, so I guess this does not mean it was cancelled in general.

No. He's not. Ben has been established as definitively dead post-BND in the "Who Was Ben Reilly?" arc that came out in 2009. Peter knows he's dead. Kaine knows he's dead. He's dead.

So ASM #672 was a good conclusion to Spider-Island, I am very pleased with it.

I totally liked the brotherly banter between Peter and Kaine, it sort of was what Peter and Ben had. In my opinion Kaine did not behave like Kaine, at least not the Kaine who was always in pain because of degeneration. He still had some sort of negative attitude ("wallopin' websnappers"), but he was more fun and less serious, more Parker-like. So I have high hopes for the new Scarlet Spider.

Yeah, this is a wierd kinda slap in the face/wish granted. They took away his clone degeneration, made him witty and upbeat yet willing to kill. I'm still not too sure how to feel about it. It's not Ben... I dunno.
