Comics Official Fans of Reilly Thread - Part 1

This is awesome! Suit from Spider-Man Edge of Time.

I'm seriously hoping that both this costume/render and the scarlet spider costume from EoT will be unlockable in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man game this summer. In more traditional red and blue colors of course...

Does anyone know if Volume 5 of the Complete Ben Reilly Epic collection is the final book? Or is there supposed to be a volume 6 in the works? I ask because Amazon seems to have deleted their soliciting info on volume 5 recently. It makes me wonder if their original projections for the issue #'s that were supposed to be printed in this book were over or underestimated and are in the process of being rectified.

So I flipped through my copy of the Ben reilly epic vol. 4 tpb and discovered that the godzilla-esque looking monster that was in ASM#414 has not been edited out or changed, despite glenn greenbergs comment from the life of reilly about toho's warning to marvel not being able to use Godzilla's likeness in reprints of this particular issue. I wonder if they'll have anything to say about it.

Hopefully this giant compendium is so obscure they'll miss it completely.

Had a dream Ben Reilly came back last night.

I have to admit, despite being a HUGE Ben Reilly fan, i'm glad Marvel left him dead and is using Kaine.

eh, as far as I'm concerned when marvel decided to use kaine as the new scarlet spider, it was their way of turning a lemon into lemonade....very sour lemonade at that. Kaine isn't ben...not even close. to give kaine the scarlet spider moniker just spits on ben's legacy.

Have you actually read the new Scarlet Spider book? Because I can't understand how anyone who's read it can be so negative about such an awesome book. OTOH if you haven't read it, then you should read it before condemning it. It's really fantastic.

wet dream?

I have a recurring dream (with slight variations) that I'm at the comic shop and I see Ben Reilly has returned in the newest issue of Spider-Man on the racks. It's something I've been waiting for, for over 15 years now. And I've been having these dreams for almost as long.

I read the first issue, I guess I have such a prediliction for reilly that the thought of kaine becoming a legitimate spider-clone and at least a worthy successor of the mantle feels like a punch in the stomach.

So, got a couple Ben-themed things at this year's Boston Comic Con:

And Finally got myself a Mayday figure. Also got American Dream.

I just read Scarlet Spider #4... man, this book is friggin' grreat!!!

:yay:

whats the articulation like on this figure? I was thinking of picking one up for myself recently.

I picked up two of them back when they came out. One to open and one to keep in the package. I didn't really play too much with it, but i think the figure was pretty stiff, but stood up rather well.

Keep On Thwipin'!!!
Sam

Didn't open it, but I think it's a standard figure in terms of articulation. I think it came out just before the super-articulation phase of Toy Biz.

Yeah I remember when it first came out I flat out ignored it, but lately I've been having second thoughts. I heard that Hasbro is on the verge of announcing a brand new exclusive line of 6" spidey figures at walmart thats supposed to be very collector friendly. Hopefully Mayday will be a part of that wave...if not, I can always get this figure instead.

As I said, I got it at Boston Comic Con. Only place to really find these figures off Ebay. It was available back in, what, '99? Along with American Dream, Wild Thing and Stinger, the only MC2 figures produced as far as I recall.

I have a loose Mayday figgure got it for like 99p off ebay a few years ago

So I finally managed to purchase the 10" sensational spider-man figure along with a 10" multi jointed peter parker spidey. Does anyone know if the 10" figs are more sturdy than the 5" counterparts?

About the same, the joints'll always be the weakest parts. I've never had an issue with a Toy Biz figure, tho, except for a Wolverine that came in one of those multi-figure collectible packs. Arm was defective and snapped right off when I took it out of the package. No big as I already had that figure from the original release.

Ah gotcha. the figures arrived a couple of days ago and they do seem pretty sturdy but I havent messed with them too much since I bought them for the purpose of display.

Now I have a quick question regarding the Ben reilly epic books. When the final volume is printed, do you guys think it will include the "Dead Man's Hand" giant sized issue as well as the "Who was Ben reilly" storyline as back-up issues in the book?

Nah, that's a good get. If I had time to troll yard sales I'm sure I'd find some goodies. Lotsa people get rid of things they don't know about for dirt cheap prices.

My wife lives for yard saling... most of my house is furnished with cheaply priced items bought at yard sales for peanuts that would have cost me HUNDREDS if I bought them from a retailer...

So every Saturday from April til October, we spend our mornings combing the city for hidden gems, then we go to the Farmer's Market to get hummus & chicken wraps (chicken, pickles, onions, green olives, banana peppers & a delicious garlic sauce... yummmm)...

:yay:
