... Yeah did not love the last two chapters of Dead No More. Really inconsistent characterization in order to serve the plot and generate elevated conflict.

Yeah, I get Ben doing this out of some misplaced sense of saving people, but he wouldn't order Peter killed (unless he is that crazy that he thinks bringing him back will convince him). Maybe Miles Warren/Jackal IS involved somehow, maybe like the whole Peter/Ock thing from Superior. I think I have to reread some issues, but if Ben is the one bringing people back, who brought him back?

Alright, maybe Ben is like this because of all the deaths. Or maybe it is some Superior stuff going on with Miles/Ben. I don't know.

No amount of bad things would cause Ben to do this!
Ben was alive for 5 years prior to his returning to NY.
And another 2 years when he got here.
He went through hell a few times over.
He was always stronger in will and smarter than Peter.

Being killed a few times and brought back would NOT break Ben.

Dan Slott said "Be careful what you wish for" in regards to having Ben back.
Seems his idea was just to piss all of us off!

Ben isn't the first character to die and be brought back to life multiple times by a villain.
The same thing happened to Johnny Storm. He turned that ***** around quick and became ruler of the Negative Zone. Johnny is nowhere near as responsible, smart or determined as Pete/Ben.

And here I was, thinking that Dan would have finally gotten better, but no, stupid me for "letting my guard down"
This tubby load needs to leave the book!

I've said it before, I will say it again.
Everything since the (original) reboot NEEDS to go away and be as if it never happened.

There is one saving grace in all of this though!
This isn't the real Ben Reilly!
616 and nearly everyone from it is dead and gone. Almost every character except for like 5 of them, are Reed, Franklin and Owen's genetic constructs!

I've always wanted Ben to come back but man what a horrible way to do it. Slott really is just ******* all over this character. I've said this for awhile now but Slott should have left after Superior Spider-Man ended.

One more thing...
I just figured out what is wrong with all the clones...
It isn't vibrations, cell and wifi interference... that's a crap excuse...
The problem is using a dead, necrotic base.
Look at Ben, Gwen and Miles... Perfect clones.
They were made from living genetic material.
And before anyone brings up Kaine, yes, he was also from living genetic material, HOWEVER, the cloning process wasn't perfected yet...

I agree that something with Ben's behavior is really off.
He never really wanted to live Peter's life and he came to accept that he is his own person and created his own life.
So everything he does in the end of Clone Conspiracy #4 doesn't make sense.

But maybe that is not really Ben, maybe the Jackal (the real one) tampered with his mind? Maybe there is more to this Proto-clone?
I am not fond of the direction this story goes, too. But lets wait until it's over before jumping to conclusions.

And you have to grant Slott one thing: he brought back Ben, something noone at Marvel dared to over the last 20 years.

We will get a Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider book, so come on, give it a chance.

Ben is this way because he is Warren's Spidercide 2.0. This may be out of character for Ben, but it is completely in character for the original Spidercide. The Jackal probably mixed Ben's personality with that of Kaine and SpOck after they did that Scarlet Spider/Superior crossover in an attempt to give Ben the Spidercide powers which warped Ben's mind. The new Scarlet Spider costume looks EXACTLY like Spidercide on purpose.

Wasn't it Slott who wanted to bring back earlier but other creatives at Marvel didn't allow it because they had other plans. Only now that these other plans (I would be really interested to know what plans they had) have been dropped Ben Reilly was available.
The Kaine Scarlet Spider series was just a stand-in because Ben was not available.
