Also I'm a little surprised. When JJJ said "I hope it's not clones. God, I hate clones," I thought Slott was ripping on all clones and that the reveal would have nothing to do with clones. And then they're clones of MVP. So JJJ was right pretty much. So what was the point of that quip? To rip on all clones or just Spider-clones....? *sigh* whatever.

That's what I didn't understand. While Slott was in the middle of cracking cheap clone jokes, did he forget he was writing a CLONE story? Maybe it's self-deprecating humor, but it still felt off.

If that's the case, I'm still waiting for them to be poking fun at THE OTHER, SINS PAST, etc. - but no, it's this one, this ONE storyline from a decade ago they keep taking cheap shots at. It's repetitious. It's like beating up on the same guy in school for years and years - at some point it becomes pathetic. That point was a long time ago.

When are they gonna poke fun at Gwen banging Norman or Spidey becoming a Spider-Jesus-Wolverine-Hannibal Lecter Abomination... or how about the unmasking? (Now THAT'S a stupid move there...) All I see is clone hate... C'mon It's been 10 years since the saga and they're still taking cheap shots at it... How about Byrne's chapter one... I haven't seen them poke fun at it...
Or How about Joe Quesada missed the mark on Spidey like Michael Bay did while doing Pearl Harbor... By spreading the clone hate they reduce our chances to see Ben Reilly... (who oughta *****slap Peter for unmasking) Yet they are cloning EVERYONE but Spidey... WTF's up with that?

of course they started with the 101 ways to finish the clone saga one shot... then came the clone saga ignoring, the cancellation threats to Spider-girl, then all the super cheap shots at the clone saga... It is not perfect, but it's 1,000,000 times better than Gwen having Goblin Babies, Peter growing stinger claws and eating heads, Peter unmasking, erasing 20 years of Spidey continuity to fix a "crisis" that was never there until the last few years that the moron in chief created a crisis to "fix" Spidey... yet they go out of their way to attack the clone saga...

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of clone jokes either.

But it even more bugs me when they are at the wrong place. Did Jonah ever know about the Spider-Man clones? He knew Scarlet Spider and in Maximum Clonage he met Spidercide, but did he ever know they were clones? I don't think so.
So Jonah making this clone joke is a continuity error, insn't it? So it makes no sense.

I don't know about "care free" because one of the big draws that Peter has is that everyone is able to connect to him because he's always got like 20 different problems to deal with, all of which he is thinking about while fighting the bad guys. It seems like everyone praises the 60s-80s as this incredible era for Spider-Man because he was single, or at least I feel like that's one of the reasons why Joe Q likes it? But I'm just calling it now, within two years Peter and MJ will be back together and everyone'll be complaining about something else...

I was also pissed at the joke. Like Magnus said, no one even knows they were clones- certainly not Jonah. It would be one thing if Peter said, "God I hope it's not clones," but Jonah? Boo.

Y'know what? After over 10 years of hoping Ben would return some day, today I realized that this will never happen.
I don't quite know why I gave up hope today. Maybe it's because of the Mephisto thing in Sensational #41. The continuity I loved is gone and Ben with it.
Or it's the disappointment everytime Marvel announced some Ben Reilly stories (Ultimate Clone Saga, FNSM 14, MKSM, new Scarlet Spider,...).
Or it's the ongoing clone jokes.

I don't know, but today I feel like Peter in ASM 50. Spider-Man no more.

Here's the funny part. The Clone Saga was created to have a single Spidey again... It failed miserably... 10 years later... Dealin' with Satan... 2017 After Spidey and MJ remember the marriage we discover that she's an amnesiac Skrull or 1/4 Kree and she's teleported to her home planet...
Then at 2027 after that alien MJ is retconned, we get the story that MJ was never real. She was a hallucination created by Peter when Gwen died...
By 2037 MJ is a genetically altered Peter clone... Ewww...

Now Baby May is gonna be erased... And What will Happen to Ben?

by actual logic which I can almost gaurentee won't be applied, any thing could change in the marvel universe.....Peter would actually probably be dead, wasn't it his love for MJ that got him through kravens last hunt? Ben could be alive....he may never have gone back to new york....Osbourn may never have returned or at a different time....

marvel won't have thought of this though and eveything will be the same minus MJ and it won't make sense.......The only hope I have is that Slott is a continuity buff anbd he will realise that a departure of the marriage will have huge ramifications


If not its a bit ridiculous cause everyman and his dog has heard about the butterfly effect



p.s I still have hope that it has been a giant PR ruse.....although if it is it will make the story redundant when someone reads it in 10 years time "of course he won't make a deal with the devil that would be so out of chracter, what an obvious story"

I think its like a demon disguised as MJ, so that she will make pete say yes.
