It's not mentioned during the escape, but IIRC, it's mentioned in his later appearances in Tom DeFalco's ASM as the reason he is hunting Osborn (which is why I asked J.M. about it). That storyline wasn't resolved in the main continuity (because of the Chapter One Reboot, and Harras being against bringing the baby back), but it was followed up on in Spider-Girl. Sort of. It was never stated that he told her that he was a "long-lost relative", which is probably better, because it seems very unlikely that she wouldn't have mentioned a long-lost relative to Peter. There's only one scene in the original where we see him calling her, and it's left to our imagination who she thinks he is (actually, at that point, we have no idea who he is... building up to the Clone Saga, he was simply a mystery man).
