Well what do ya know!

I'm apparently Buldge-a-phobic and didn't even realize it.

Maybe I'm just envious :(

Interesting leap on the one question asked of DeMatteis about Kaine escaping The Vault in the Thunderbolts Annual. Kaine never says a word during the escape but the question states that he was motivated to escape in order to kill Osborn taking revenge for Ben's Death. Makes me wonder if that will be major point in the new Web of Spider-Man arc, and it fits nicely with Dark Reign continuity that Kaine would really want to get free to go after Norman.

And amen, bring back Ben! At least there are writers who want to do it... now we just need an ongoing. I'd even love a flashback series where we see Ben during his Exile/Scarlet Spider/Spider-Man days. They could really flesh that time out. Make a whole new series of cannon Ben stories. Ah... I'm dreamin.

well you know the best way to do that. Buy as many copies you can of the clone saga. The almighty dollar signs is the only thing marvel listens to anymore.

Well, I just read Spider-Man: The Clone Saga #1...

Good book, a little too fast with the pacing, but I think they're trying to cram 12 or 24 issues into 6 issues, plus there's a lot of stuff that I think the writers assume that the readers already know...

:yay:

Yeah, it feels a little fast paced. But that first issues covers the full "Power and Responsibility" 4-parter. Ok, there's no carnage, but the reason for these stories was to establish a bond between Peter and Ben. And that usually takes more than 1 issue, but... well you have to take what you can get.

And the pace didn't bother me that much, so I still love it (read is a 2nd and 3rd time today :) )

Yeah I probably do. I've had a frustrating few weeks. Sorry Madison. I just can't help but to shake my head at this whole drooping thing people think looks so cool these days. I've always found it humorous.

Heh, back in highschool a guy started acting all big and bad with his pants all hanging down. My friend and I just belted out laughing in his face about how rediculous he looked. I've not stopped laughing.

It's just a personal thing.

And I've never mentioned anything about a buldge before, but honeslty, it looks horrible. That's why the movie renditions of a lot of costumes that eliminate that works much better.

:hehe:

LOL I fixed my belt shortly afterwards. Also the "I'm a Street Fighter" T-Shirt i'm wearing was a size too small and didn't hang over the waistline as much as i would have liked. Sorry about my bulge though. It's what keeps the pants up.

Oh wait...you're talking about Scarlet Spider. :woot:

JM DeMatties is my favorite Spider-Man writer ever. A Ben Reilly series by him (especially a "lost years" series) would be so awesome.

Yes. Yes it would. Man, I haven't picked up The Clone Saga issue yet. Must hurry. Temptation to read spoilers is getting worse.

Something for the Reilly fans.

So I don't get it.... Were Pete and MJ married during the clone saga, even tho they killed the marriage? Why are they married in the Clone Saga mini?

Because this story is like a director's cut, like a "what would have been if the clone saga was told like it was initially intended" without all the marketing interference and staff changes.

So this has nothing to do with what happened because of One More Day.

That and the story is not in continuity.

Ah... OK. I thought they were making the mini canon just to simplify things, especially because of OMD.
That's cool. It's nice to see married MJ again.
Did Ben Reilly actually keep in touch with Aunt May like that?

Yes all around.

Wait a second. I thought the marriage still happened, just no one remembers it (except possibly MJ, but who knows).

That has never really been explained. As far as we all know... the marriage never happened, but MJ MIGHT remember how things used to be.

Well thats... something. I wonder if they will finally collect everything in trade?

Woah cool. Hmm is that only going to be in Canada? Cause I can't find it in the u.s. amazon.

Hooboy...

Yes... the marriage did happen... and then Peter & MJ made an arrangement with Mephisto so that it didn't happen... their history hadn't changed (other than getting married), and as far as continuity goes since OMD, the marriage did NOT happen... and that is how everybody remembers it.

Hope that clears it up...

It's not mentioned during the escape, but IIRC, it's mentioned in his later appearances in Tom DeFalco's ASM as the reason he is hunting Osborn (which is why I asked J.M. about it). That storyline wasn't resolved in the main continuity (because of the Chapter One Reboot, and Harras being against bringing the baby back), but it was followed up on in Spider-Girl. Anyway, glad you guys liked the interview; I think it makes a nice companion piece to my interviews with Tom, Howard, and Todd. Stay tuned for a review of the first issue of the new Clone Saga.

Sort of. It was never stated that he told her that he was a "long-lost relative", which is probably better, because it seems very unlikely that she wouldn't have mentioned a long-lost relative to Peter. There's only one scene in the original where we see him calling her, and it's left to our imagination who she thinks he is (actually, at that point, we have no idea who he is... building up to the Clone Saga, he was simply a mystery man).

I remember reading that Ben Reilly called her on the pretense that it was the "wrong number" and then just kept her talking.

Today is "Who is Ben Reilly" day! Don't forget to get your copy (because I can't :csad: ).
