But really, the only thing that could get me excited is if Wacker said either Kaine or Reilly might return. The Jackal's humor was so bad it made me cringe and his plots were convoluted messes that resulted in crap like "Maximum Clonage." I much preferred the very beginning and the end of the clone-saga to the gooey, confusing Jackal-orientated middle.

i agree.

wacker mentions himself that he doesn't care too much about continuity so if the Jackal WERE to return, I'd doubt they'd even mention the clone saga except for a line or two.

anyways, jackal sucks. but he DID create Ben Reilly and Kaine. so i'd tolerate him.

I'm a closet Ben Reilly fan. It sucked when they tried to make him anything besides the Scarlet Spider. Which is according to most why they hate him...

I've still never read the whole Daredevil/Punisher Jackal appearance. Did it really have no mention of him prior to that at all? Not how he survived or ANYTHING?! Ugh.

^ do you have Spider-Man: The Osborn Journal #1 ?

Yes, I do have it. And, once again, you misunderstand me. No where did I say that The Jackal was the "main" villain of the Clone Saga. I said he was the Clone Saga villain. He MADE the clones of Peter Parker. Are you still following me? When Ben Reilly first returned The Jackal was, basically, the villain that we saw and the villain we BELIEVED to be the mastermind of it all. Are you still here? Do you still comprehend? Are you going to post anymore comic covers that I have and have practically memorized? I'll continue. We then find out, through the "brilliant" minds at Marvel, that Norman Osborn is the mastermind of EVERYTHING. Great. Grand. Wonderful.

The Jackal is STILL a villain. He was in BOTH Clone Saga's. So, if they bring back The Jackal they will, most likely, have to acknowledge the fact that the Clone Saga happened because that's what The Jackal is KNOWN for. THAT'S my point. THAT'S what I was trying to say.

So next time you want to try and be condescending and try and "prove" that you're an expert...you should probably read someones posts a little more carefully. Carry on.

A Ben-Reilly-Would-Keep-A-Psychotic-Peter-In-Check (he did it once before) bump. :oldrazz:

What if One More Day is really about the return of Ben Reilly, and it's revealed he was the one true Spider-Man all along?

I'd buy it. 'Natch!

Ben Reilly has returned!

Are words I wish I could say or hear from Marvel...

I'm still holding out for Ben in the (New) New Warriors. They explicitly state in NW#2 that the webbed up Rhino was an act by the NW, and not Spidey. :spidey:

So honestly, what do you all think is gonna happen with Tony Stark's new "Scarlet Spiders"? Do you think there'll be, at the very least, some more Clone Saga references (Peter being angry at the name maybe, Stark making a clone joke)?

i dont know. i just want marvel to actually make somthing out of the scarlet spiders insted of just having them there and not doing anything with it

i beleive scarlet spiders is dan slotts idea....and dan slott is "da man" and is probably the most likely to reference the cs in a decent way

Stark already made a clone joke over in Fallen Son Iron Man, somethin' to the effect of Clones suck or somethin'. An' given that Jubilee now has super strength, could be anyone who has a web device made by Thrash.

The only way I can see Ben Reilly coming back anytime soon is if Marvel rips off DC with the multiverse thing. Then you can have INFINITE Ben Reilly's, heh. But, I don't see that happening...

So, just be happy with the army of Iron Spiders in the Initiative.

Don't you mean, DC ripping Marvel off? We've always had a multiverse. That's why the normal continuity is called 616. As in, Earth-616, one of millions of dimensions and not just "52". Ultimate, MC2 (Spider-Girl), every else-world tale, every What If?, and Marvel Zombies are all different dimensions as well.

There's even a team, Exiles (Booster Gold is an Exiles ripoff), dedicated to dimension-hopping. They haven't encountered a Ben Reilly yet (although i'm sure there are thousands of him) because the writers don't want him back.

Personally, I think that Ben Reilly will come back once we've all given up hope (which may not be for a while) and when a Ben Reilly return seems impossible. At this point, I still think there's too much Ben Reilly speculation every time there's a big event (The Other, Sins Past, Civil War). Once we stop caring, kinda like the Third Summers brother, THEN they'll try to surprise us.

I'll never lose hope... Ben WILL return... I just hope that Marvel doesn't create a Summers sister...

I don't think I'll ever lose hope either, but after a couple of years...it's gonna get depressing...but when they finally BRING HIM BACK i hope that we're rewarded with one of the best storylines in years.

I'm curious but has the webbing found in New Warriors #1 ever been attributed to someone or is the Ben Reilly rumor still alive and kicking?

I think the only way that Ben Reilly will ever come back is when the fans that grew up with him starts working for Marvel. Maybe the next generation of writers and editors to work in the business.
