Official: Gotham City Sirens directed by David Ayer - Part 1

I think there's room for both. There's space to do a Harley & Joker film and to have a Catwoman movie. Obviously now wouldn't be the best time for both since they're still scrambling a bit in really getting the DCEU off the ground, but down the line I can't see why we can't have both.

See, I think this should feature Harley already on her own but given how Suicide Squad ended I figured they'd try to desperate her from Joker through her (newfound?) relationship with Selina and Ivy.

Character development!

That's still the main thing that comes to mind when I think about this: are we going to get actual character development? Because SS offers next to none and we have a lot of the same people involved with SS reappearing here (i.e Ayer) and I can't imagine it turning out a hell of a lot differently.

Sure, Margot's going to put her foot down so she doesn't look like a drunken clown, but what about the actual characterization? Are we going to get Harley as she should be or just more of the "over-sexualized, dumbed down" version?

That's why it should only have the three Sirens and the villain as a focus. Each siren can have their own emotional arc to deal with and the villain can have theirs. That's what lacked in Suicide Squad. Harley and Deadshot were the only ones who had an arc of sorts to deal with.

Honestly, I feel like Diablo had more of a character arc than anyone else. At the least, in the end, he changed.

Deadshot and Harley? Indistinguishable from themselves at the beginning.

Precisely. Diablo actually learns from his past actions and makes the effort to change. By the time Enchantress is defeated, both Deadshot & Harley are ready to go right back to what got them where they are in the first place.

Did you really want Deadshot and Harley to stop being villains though?

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the success of WW prompts WB to fast-track this. Also wouldn't surprise me if they take Ayer off of it and hire a female filmmaker.

This needs to happen.

I hope Ayer doesn't direct this. Hoping this Scarface movie allows WB to pick someone else

Only two films though... The Flash and The Batman. Edit: And Doug Liman with Justice League Dark. I think Ayer could do a decent job with this if they pick quality over quantity, in terms of the amount of characters they put in this. Focus on the three leads and the villain and that's all we need. Don't try to bring Batgirl or the Birds of Prey into this as they aren't needed and would only clutter up the story.

Skwad was Ayer's first genuine ensemble dud. Give me that bts documentary.

And as we all know, DCEU directors always make it to the final lap!

Can't really extrapolate that to GCS. Seth Grahame-Smith had never directed a movie before and Rick Famuyiwa hadn't really done that much either. Certainly nothing big budget. Affleck stepped down because of family problems.
Zack Snyder left because his daughter died. David Ayer is an experienced director and a company man with what appears to be a stable family life.

I don't think you necessarily need to be a big film director to handle these movies, as Patty Jenkins and the Captain America 2 & 3 films mostly directed tv episodes and smaller pictures and made great comic films. I do think Rick Famuyiwa could make a really great Flash movie. It's a shame that they lost him for the project. Ayer can definitely do GCS justice though. Just learn from the mistakes Suicide Squad had and keep things on track.

With enough time, not the SS situation again, Ayer can deliver very good results. I don't have any problem with him being a director. And I don't need a female director replacing him.

What troubles me is Geneva Dworet-Robertson writing the script. Nobody saw anything from her ever. With shi**y script you can hire whoever you want, it won't end up good anyway.

She doesn't have anything out but she had a script featured on The Black List, which is where top unproduced scripts are featured. A lot go on to win awards and such. So it seems like she has the skills. Let's just hope she's a fan of the subject and not just taking the role to get money.

If you look at it, any director/writer who is a huge fan of the source material (Russo Brothers), it can really help make a film sing. When you get a writer who feels "Oh I can fix this" sort of thing with characters and dynamics, that's when things can start to go bad.

Can you explain how she's a ****** script writer???

Yeah, not even one film she wrote is out there. But nice to hear about The Black List stuff.

I have to reiterate how much I'd be interested to see Sofia Coppola direct this film. She probably wouldn't want to do a comic book movie, but I would love to see her take on this world and these characters.
