Batman got beaten by people with godlike powers? You dont say....
Thanks for posting further evidence of Batman's elaborate plans to ultimately gain the upper hand. Incidentally, what issue is the Wonder Woman image from? I want to read that.
WW: Hiketeia. Great story.

>Implying Wonder-Woman, Catman, Bronze Tiger or Hal Jordan without wearing a Power Ring have God-like powers.

- WW and Zoom have god like powers.
- Hal sucker punched him although its Johns writing it so...
- The Catman scene was writen by Simone who always jobs Batman to her favourite characters to make them look cool. I think she's even jobbed him to Huntress.
- I dont know Bronze Tiger but its an old issue, i'm guessing before they established that Batman is the best in everything and like... top 5 in martial arts.

Deadshot and Bane (on venom) are both superhuman. Look, Batman gets his ass kicked by common thugs one day and the next he's fighting Darkseid's Furies. Its how comics work. They always adjust his potential depending on the story.

Main point is that Batman can only fight with heroes with actual powers because of writers. He has zero shot against them in a logical matchup.

A writer actually had Batman beat Superman....'nuff said.

Man, we really need to get back on topic before they start infracting a *****.

But one more...I was actually on the train today and heard two kids talking about Batman, and one of them used the "as long as he has time to prepare, he could kick anyone's ass." I wanted to turn around and counter that argument so bad but I just kept my ****ing mouth shut.

I definitely agree, except in cases where Batman can exploit a weakness, like Superman and K or red sun radiation. I'm guessing that if he exposed him to K a little before they engaged he'd stand a chance.

Heh, i just remembered of a S/B issue where two kids discuss what would happen if they fought and one of them said that Batman would use grenades with lead molecules, covering SM's eyes and blinding him. That's also a nice idea.

damn, you shoulda TOLD that little kid

make his ass cry

Batman has whooped Catman throughout pre crisis, not to mention theres more to that fight than the one or two pages you put up. Batman beat Bane in their rematch in Detective 701, and beat Deathstroke in both Detective Comics 710 and Infinite Crisis, and hes stalemated with Bronze Tiger several times. As for Hal, do we need to put up that page of Batman painting a whole room yellow...then letting Robin...and I mean 12 years old, no pants and pixie shoes wearing robin...kick hal's ass all over the place?

Its times like this im glad Bruce became the "Bat-god", because people are entirely hyperbolic when it comes to criticizing that aspect of bruce.

Haven't you heard?

Batman = Win

No matter the situation.

Yeah, unfortunately it's gotten to the point where any time Batman accomplishes anything, a bunch of people get ******** (and equally, Bat-fans get ******** whenever Batman, say, get's punched in the face). Other guys have heat vision, magic rings, and the powers of the gods--isn't that enough? Does it hurt them so much if Batman's smart enough to plan around that sort of thing? Nobody questions it when Lex Luthor outsmarts Superman, but oh, when Batman does it, well that's just Bat-god prep-time BS.

Tedious. Other guys can squash Batman, Batman can outsmart other guys. Fair is fair. No need for anyone on either side to get ********.

True.

Tower of Babel did a good job of showing how Bats views this entire "god power" deal anyway. He's right in coming up with intelligent ways around their godly powers.

Intelligence & ingenuity are his god given gift and part of what makes Wayne so intriguing. IMO

Batman eh.

is it true that tower of babel is on the DC animation docket?
(finally the cinematic world gets to see the smart batman)

if so I wonder if which green lantern will show up.
DC animation loves their black lantern
however the original story has Rayner
but then again, Johns does run things now...

a.k.a. a sucker punch. :oldrazz:

Yeah, pretty much.

:D

''I tagged Bats real good while he wasnt looking!!''

''Ugh, gee that's......great Hal.''

Jordan certainly didn’t hit him while he wasn’t looking.
If anything Batman grabbed Jordan from behind, twice! Batman was looking right at him when he got hit.

The Corps are about to take off to fight Parallax who is infecting everyone on Earth and needs to be stopped now!
Paranoid Batman decides (understandably) he needs an explanation, and grabs Jordan with his little Batarang.
Giving him an ultimatum - “as long as I’m standing, you’re not doing anything”
glbatpuncha.jpg

Which Jordon fsss' away, and is about to take off again!
glbatpunchb.jpg

Then Batman grabs him again!
From behind...
And the ultimatum is answered.....

.....Batman no longer standing!

I hadn't heard of that but I'm certainly interested and really hope thats the case.

Rayner shouldn't be replaced. If they do an almost direct translation I'll be so happy. Waid did a great job with the writing in it.

Yes, the first animated film of 2012 will be Justice League: Doom, which will be based on the Tower of Babel story.

Yep, it's their next feature after Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and Batman: Year One.

Oh my goodness, yay!

Tower of Babel is a great story.

I'll be pissed if they get rid of Rayner. Hope everything is kept spot on.

They did a good job with All Star Superman so I hope they can do the same for TOB.

Doom's screenplay was also adapted by Dwayne McDuffie, who adapted All-Star Superman's.

That's another bad one...Lex ever beating Supes. (has he ever beaten Superman?) Love Supes, but Lex is a horrible "arch nemesis".

That's like in Watchmen when Dr Manhattan points out that "The world's smartest man poses no more threat to me than does its smartest termite."

If Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, etc were absolute morons...like drooling on themselves stupid....Batman might have a chance. Otherwise there is no "plan" that beats gods who are also very very smart and have a known history of overcoming incredible odds to win. They don't all suddenly become unable to win a battle where they have an incredible advantage just because Batman is cool. (Superman has never had to overcome kyptonite before....GL never has had to overcome his weakness to yellow before...right? ;) )

Somehow it's not enough that Batman is incredibly cool in his own book against his normal non-powered villains. He also has to be able to beat up all the other heroes with super powers too. :woot: Popularity has its rewards I guess. A writer could easily have the world's smartest termite beat up Dr Manhattan.

...Man I love these nerdy conversations. :word:

Sheesh...I don't want to watch the trailers any more. I'm sold now. (As if I wouldn't be there opening day before) It's good to hear everyone is liking them now.

Nobody can with the goddamn Batman.

Have something interesting about JL: DOOM to me. Justice League: Mortal history in part is coming from this comic (together with the OMAC arc in Infinite Crisis). If they using that in animated movie, maybe the new plot of the future Justice League movie will be different, without Batman and Superman. Superman: Doomsday have use several ideas from Superman Lives and his other no-made Superman movie versions before him and Superman Returns arrive.

I reiterate: People with lesser powers than these heroes pose a legitimate threat to them--yes, a threat they overcome, but story logic demands we accept these villains are dangerous. Captain Cold doesn't decide to take on the Flash ain a fist fight, and neither would Batman--but Cold is can still challenge him.

If you accept that these villains can challenge these heroes, you must also accept that Batman can challenge them as well. If you do not accept those terms, comics must be very frustrating for you.

Somehow it's not enough that Batman is incredibly cool in his own book against his normal non-powered villains. He also has to be able to beat up all the other heroes with super powers too.
Yeah, because I wrote that Batman should be able to beat up all the other heroes. Nice strawman, not obvious at all.

In fact, Batman exists in a shared universe. He's on teams with these people, he fights the same enemies as these people. That pretty much requires that he be able to operate on their level--so yes, it is not enough that Batman is cool in his own book. The same goes for any character who has such a role in the larger sandbox. It's the same reason I expect any Leaguer to hold his or her own against the others--if not necessarily in a physical contest. As a team, they are all required to have their particular talents that can be brought to bear against powerful enemies.

That demands that Batman doesn't suddenly become ineffectual when he's looking at Superman instead of Darkseid, and the same goes for Superman looking at Batman instead of Lex Luthor.
