C'mon, man. Anybody can get their hands on a copy of the GL script nowadays (just ask prtocida). Rule number one: a true Green Lantern fan would never dis the project even if it was bad (he/she would just keep his/her mouth shut). Thus guy is a fake. From what I have been gathering just from people on the street is that the in general like comic book movies and are looking forward to seeing all of them (especially "Thor", "Green Lantern", and "Captain America") this year. Furthermore, if the studio knew that there were problems with the film they would have reshot those scenes that were bad months ago or would have moved the release date back (and fired the director - like they did with "Punisher: Warzone"). This rock and bull story you heard is just that.

Sorry, that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

I'd say a true fan is one who can look past his or her bias towards a character and admit when something is flat out bad.

My thoughts exactly. And I'm not fond of the whole "true" fan thing anyway. But yea, if you wanna use that term, a "true" fan wouldn't accept mediocrity.

So when Batman & Robin came out, as a fan I SHOULD FORCE myself to like it? I'm not going to support a poor product just to be a fan because that's flat out absurd.

No I didn't say that. I said that if you were a true fan you wouldn't do anything to jepordize the success of the franchise. Trashing the film before it was released (without even seeing the movie) would be doing just that. You are better off keeping your mouth shut.

Eh just did a quick google on SAAD‘s quoted nelson (supposed GL "fan") and the Transformers fan forum SAAD said he posts on, and the words Green Lantern - And the first thing that came up was the guy pretty much condemning WB/GL for s “steeling” Transformers sound bites for their trailer. Did they?

Anyway normally wouldn’t care especially not from anything SAAD dredges up, just these quotes he "found" seem especially vindictive…

"Screenings have been miserable."

"Look at this way, the Batman nipple movies had better numbers."

Of course leave it to SAAD to dredge up the most dire doom and gloom assertions from anyone out there. Thanks!

...there was no Green Lantern trailer.

As far as trailers, saw Thor (3D Imax)fun last night and the GL trailer was definitely on there, and got a couple of cheers ..hell yeahs! from the audience.

Also the lobby had GL posters, and all the popcorn bags had GL art on them too.

Like I said before, the guy wasn't a GL fan. Furthermore him being associated with the Transformers franchise that is releasing this year would definitely constitute a conflict of interest.

No... a "true" fan would prefer that the movie bombs if it's crap. Then the creators might just sit up and realize "Yea, we messed up. Must. try. harder".

Accepting mediocrity means you are not giving the creators motive to improve.

Ya I did not see the GL trailer on my version of Thor. I was pissed.

However about S.A.A.D's source.....yea first I don't believe him, but even if it is true, yea some one who has a competing movie is of course going to rip it apart, especially some one under the Bay tent.

Sorta'. They used the Superbowl TV Spot "BRRRMMM" in a speeded-up version in one of the TV Spots. Which is something that a lot of studios, including Paramount, which funds Transformers, do.

Last Stand was on FX (I wan't paying attention to it, I swear!) and I think I saw a new TV spot.

It started with the "dying purple alien" oath. Then just had the actual oath over different clips. It had Abin's escape, Hal transforming in front of Tom, Kilowog and Tomar looking at each other. But I think there was a new shot of Hal. The suit and mask looked PERFECT, only Hal and what looked to be the Oan sky in the background were in the frame.

please don't dictate who is and isn't a true fan. And accepting blind faith in a film without acknowledging a different perspective (potential problems) is kinda naive and counter-constuctive.

And peole have brought up Catwoman and Batman & Robin (may I add Jonah Hex too?) and other examples and clearly you dont have a rebuttal because IN REAL LIFE people can form their own opinions.

GL trailer is only with Thor 3D I believe, no trailer when I saw the 2D last night.
