This is Bryan Singer's first X-Men film, no more, no less. An somewhat successful introductory film that should've been more. Through and through, both films are exactly the same....
Weren't you just saying "it's just an opinion"?
You can't have it both ways.
I think Singer's first X-Men film is very overrated. It's a decent movie, but VERY flawed and silly when you actually examine it.
I get tired of people saying it's a piece of ****. A piece of **** is Jonah Hex, both Fantastic Four flicks, Daredevil, both Punishers, Blade Trinity, Losers, Batman & Robin, Catwoman, the 1990 Captain America film, Ghost Rider, Iron Man 2 (when you really break that film down) and to a lesser extent Batman Forever.

I really don't understand this mentality. A review is nothing more than opinion, are there standards to opinions? And why do so many people keep hinting at a critic conspiracy? Why can't people just not like the movie and give it a bad review? That seems to make a whole lot more sense.

True, but also you have to judge it on when it came out. This was the first superhero flick post Batman and Robin, and it took the source material seirously and had some very good performances from Patrick Steward and Ian McKellum, and also gave us Hugh Jackman.
You're right though looking back it doesn't hold up considering how far the bar has been raised with modern superhero flicks.
Okay, no. Green Lantern is a ton worse than Batman Forever and Xmen 1. And seriously? Iron Man 2? That should never be on a list of bad comic movies. Yeah it was worse than the first one but still good.
And to S.A.A.D., how is people complaining about the movie "brainwashing"?
How would it be any different than you praising the movie?
It's alright that people like this movie, but the majority don't. Just deal with it.
I place Green Lantern movie at par with The Incredible Hulk, which was entertaining but had some pacing and script issues.
Whoever is saying that GL movie is like Catwoman, Elektra, GI Joe, Ghost Rider is just trying to be a Troll, Ignore such posters.
Wasn't hinting at a conspiracy, sorry if it came off that way. I don't believe in critic conspiracies (well, every once in a while I think Pixar might be paying people off, lol). I just think that some people, critics and fans, had their minds made up about this movie before they even saw it. Not everyone, mind you... I know for a fact that plenty of people here who hated it were expecting to like it. But there were also those people who damned the movie the moment they heard the words "I know, right."
Having an opinion of how bad the movie is is NOT trollish behavior. What is trollish behavior is insulting other posters and pushing your opinion on them. Some people thought it was B&R bad, and that is their right.
Glad to know my difference of opinion puts in the troll bin. Thanks, I didn't know that about myself. I'll be sure to spread the word to the other 75% of the people who gave it a negative review.
Unfortunately, that's true as well. It was WB marketing's fault for releasing a sub-par trailer (unfinished effects, really?) and then going ape **** when ppl didn't like it
but John Stewart is black. hollywood will not give a black character hes own franchise. they are stupid
