Comics Official JEAN GREY/PHOENIX Discussion Thread

They talk about Jean Grey and Nate Grey in next week's Endangered Species backstory in X-Factor....

In next week's Endangered Species backstory at the end of X-Factor it shows Dark Beast remembering doing tests on AOA Jean Grey and talking to AOA Scott.

Dark Beast says that Jean Grey is beyond mutation and belongs to some higher category. He talks about how every cell in her body is a separate center of power. He compares her to "white fountains of spontaneous energy of cosmic birth" or something like that.

He also says that she is something unique, that is until they made a child from her (Nate Grey).

They say that Nate was so powerful because he was made from Jean and had her powers and her morphology.

Then Dark Beast asks current Beast to tell him about the Greys (Jean and Nate).

Beast explains that they are both dead. Dark Beast basically says that death tends to be temporary for the Greys.

Beast explains that Magneto killed Jean and that Nate scattered his essence. Dark Beast wonders if Nate can be reconstituted.

Hmmm. Looks like Rachel will get her brother and mother both back if you ask me.

Eh. Jean is Jean. Either way, Jean will be back eventually.

Jean is jean-That statement totally is not true if she doesn't come back normal without phoenix and the storyline logic justification for hr coming back is stupid as hell-Just save it.

Marvel hasquite possibly messed up all the Xmen books irrevocably. It's almost at a point where there's nothing that can fix it. Characters all out of character with dumb ass panel eating dialogue with almost no plausibility or continuity. A few things happening signal the begining of days end for me:

1. Scott staying with Emma past this fall
:o
2. Scott reproducing with Enema this includes any & all clones

3. Rachel dying /bowing out so Jean can come back

4. Another lame as$ phoenix story with Jean returning insecure and out of control and boring.comeback stipulation:new codename ,new costume, use of powers change it up make tk do something it never did before in one word creativity.

5.A)Storm being or staying married to black panther is ridiculous I never ever saw them together yet another write trying to cash in..
B)Logan on a team only as comic relief

6.the terrible retcon' explaining Gambit's return to former glory making the whole Morrison thing as if it didn't exist which was great but now Remy has no personality change after becoming the human fart machine except that now he's with the Maraauders & we know our boy will turn on them!

7. Too many sub par quality x books-They need to do fewer books -hate to harp on the Jim Lee days again but it sure was organized!

2 main x books splitting teams going after villians in an organized fashion instead of letting all these baddies get the drop on them. (Isn't one of Scott's powers/attributes strategery?)
And cool characters on teams with nothing to do but look stupid (bishop,Nightcrawler, psylocke,Polaris,Colossus,Storm!??)

Get it together marvel!

I agree. Havok and Polaris are like useless. Get them something to do already! They really have potential!

Develop Rachel. Jean is so messed up, no writer can bring her back. Like Britney or Lindsay Lohan.

Kill Vulcan.

No... have X-Man come back and show uncle whinypants who's boss.

Eh. Jean is Jean. Either way, Jean will be back eventually.

Alternate realities mean different versions of the same characters. Earth 295 Jean is NOT the exact duplicate of Earth 616 Jean, that is BASIC for understanding Alternate Realities. You can't claim that a person is biologicaly or psychologically the same in every alternate reality.

Well Mike Carey said on one of the last X-Positions at CBR that when/if they bring Jean back they don't want to retcon her again.

Which means she will still be Phoenix when she returns. As we all know the Phoenix is apart of the characters mutation, consciousness, and destiny now. She is suppose to return through a Phoenix Egg.

Jean is licensed out with the Phoenix Imagery now. There are even cards and colorbooks with Jean in the 90's Blue/Gold costume with the Phoenix Raptor effect now.

Anyways, this Friday will be the grand finale of the Bring Back Jean Grey aka Phoenix fan campaign.

We are asking fans to send brief, positive, friendly, and creative letters and/or postcards to Marvel and ask them to bring Jean back.

If you have already sent a letter please consider sending another letter or postcard on or by Friday, August 24th.

The Petition will also be sent on that date.

If you are not big on Jean being Phoenix you can always advocate for her powers to be limited, for them to focus more on her human side, for the Phoenix to be mostly her iconic imagery, or for her to stay the Phoenix but be somehow separated from the force/consciousness.

To get their attention and for us to have a unified voice, please consider using Phoenix images for letter heads since its apart of Jean's iconic imagery.

Why be so negative? Isn't it better to be for something than against something?

Would you want fans writing in asking for Storm to be killed? What if Storm was killed off for years at a time would you want fans advocating for her to never come back?

Sheesh, grow a heart.

Are you really such a negative critical person? It seems like there are a lot of negative, cynical and critical people these days. Negativity seems to spread like a virus.

There are many Jean fans that would love for her to come back. I'm not even buying the books right now. But I would buy them again if Jean came back.

Have you ever heard the phrase "It was a joke?"

Hey JustABill!

You can't be too lazy to send a letter or postcard. Just write "Please Bring Back Jean Grey/Phoenix" and put it in an envelope and address it to Marvel and stamp it and send it off.

Sebita-- What happened to all the Jean/Phoenix fans who use to be on this board? A few years ago this board had the most Jean fans of any X-Men board except the Jean Grey message board.

I'm sure some did send their Jean fan letters. Theres always lurkers out there who participate and don't say anything.

I don't see why some of the Storm fans wouldn't send a Jean fan letter. Jean and Storm are friends and from what I can tell they have never had a negative effect on each other in the comics.

This competition among fans is silly. They are both omega powerful women who can transcend to higher status (Jean as a Phoenix and Storm as an elemetal being).

In fact Storm has always been among my favorite characters. She was my favorite when I was first introduced to the X-Men by the Animated Series.

If they killed her off or put her in limbo for years, you can bet your bottoms dollar that I'd send a fan letter in support of her.

How about being FOR negativity? Geez...:word:

All I'm asking is for people to request that the Jean Grey character returns soon.

We all know that Jean Grey as Phoenix will return someday. It might as well be sooner than later, and the fans that love Jean would like to read about her in the near future. We'd also like to show positive support for the character.

And people can give suggestions to them on how to use her as Phoenix without her being over powerful, insane, or dead lol.

It may not help but it can't hurt. But I think showing there is a market for Jean related stories will help.

Just think of how many people could have participated if they weren't such negative nancies and debbie downers. lol

This is something editor Nick Lowe recently said about Jean Grey...

Thanks for writing and we appreciate your input. The thing about Jean isn’t that we think she’s a bad character, or a problem character… She’s the favorite character of a lot of us up here. And a lot of our writers. That’s why she’s always been so integral to the X-Men and had such pivotal and dramatic roles in past stories. The reason she’s not around is that we want to honor the sacrifices she made and let them mean something before we bring her back into the fold.

Don’t worry. Jean will come back. It’s just a matter of time.

Nick

Here is a quote from Mike Carey...

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb here. I wish Jean hadn't come back that first time, or at least not in the way she did. Some resurrections work, and some don't. Being told ‘this character who you think you've been following for the past X years has never actually been the character you thought she was, because the character you thought she was is in fact over here' never works.

So the questions would always be – in this order – first, do we want to bring this character back? And second, is there a way of doing it that doesn't cheat the audience or offend their intelligence? If the answer is “yes” on both counts, then you go ahead.

So we are just trying to get X-Men and Jean Grey fans to send Marvel friendly creative letters to inspire them to bring Jean back and to do meaningful new stories with her while continuing some of her ongoing subplots.

I get what you're saying, but...

What if I don't want Jean back?

I think this is sugarcoating their past dumb mistakes of making her uber powerful and thus making her completely and utterly useless and pointless in an X-Men storyline.
