This was awesome.

Pick it up before Geoff Johns gets it cancelled for having the good Brainiac 5 at in it.

Why thank you :D

In all seriousness I was surprised how much this tied into the Waid Legion of Superheroes especially with all the Legion overhall at the moment.

It's good to see Bedard is not only tying REBELS into the former LEGION books, but understanding that Vil Dox is a Brainiac and will be exploring that. While also using using the OMEGA men (although I thought Doc was dead) and was tying it all up to the recent Stalin space stories.

I'm excited at the prospect of the book.

Last I saw of the Omega Men was their mini a couple years ago. Tigorr's resurrected wife, the half-guardian, half-zamoran chick and Silica were all members by the end. Now Silica is a bad guy and the others are gone...???

Anyway, yeah I thought it was a pretty good first issue.

I never ever read that mini, was going to pick it up because I couldn't believe someone was using that Guardian woman from Raab's Kyle Rayner run but never actually got round to reading it.

Bedard does just seem to just be using the "classic" Omega Men.

Took a break from being dead, did he? ;)

REBELS' first issue was great. I've heard that its continuity is a bit wonky with the Omega Men, but I can excuse that because I haven't read much with the Omega Men anyway. Maybe the changes happened in Countdown to Adventure or Rann/Thanagar: Holy War or some other cosmic story I didn't bother to read? Either way, I like Tigorr, so as long as he's still around, it's fine by me.

As for Bedard's use of the Threeboot Legionnaires, yes, it was great. Not surprising, given that he took over for Waid on the series, but still great.

so this is based in the 31st century?

then how is waids legion in here you guys said?

A message sent through time.

but thats not possible, ask doc brown

The kill count in Holy War was certainly a Stalin-esque feat.

2nd issue was good too.

Plot for people not reading: Vril Dok is going to build his own version of the Legion of Superheroes finding ancestors of the Legionaires (based upon Querl Dox's files) so he can take back his L.E.G.I.O.N empire that has been usurped from him.

I'm going to assume it's Lyrl Dox that has taken on L.E.G.I.O.N and Vril just recruited Dawnstar's ancestor.

But good story and read it!

Technically, he's making his version of the Fatal Five. :)

Sorry I'm so late to the party. I didn't get around to readng REBELS #2 until lunchtime today. It was pretty good. Bedard's doing a great job with Vril. I hope the formation of the team isn't dragged out too much longer, though. I like it when they get the characters together in a couple of issues and go from there.

I didn't notice that she was. But she's supposed to be the black sheep of her people, so maybe the spots were just to make her uglier or something.

My favorite new series of '09 with just 2 issues. It's so nice to follow Vril Dox regularly again my 10 year old counterpart who still lies deep within me couldn't be happier. Andy Clarke's pencils are also off the chain the details on his character's facial expressions is amazing. Between the writing and the pencils this is the type of quality I expect for my 3 bucks every month.

I have no room for this book, i'm cutting my list, wish DC would spit out TPB as fast as marvel does
