Official REBELS thread

From way back in JLA? I don't remember it too well. Starro was giant-sized and covering half a planet. That's about all I remember.

They were very much like the aliens from Independence Day, going around and sucking up dream resources or something, but the JLA was able to show them that the Earth was too hostile for them and they ran away, which was kind of the opposite reaction to everything Bedard built his Starro up to be.

Namely, 'roided out space Conan. And then he didn't even get a satisfying conclusion. Vril cuts his connection to his network of other Starros and suddenly he's powerless. Woo.

But Bedard is starting LEGION back up and St. Aubin's art is almost as good as Clarke's, so I'm still excited.

I hope his GL Corps is as good as his Legion run was. I'm skeptical of his ability to replace Tomasi.

Tomasi'll still be writing Guy and Kilowog in Emerald Warriors, at least. But I think Bedard will do a good job. He's done good work on Exiles (after a bit of a rocky start, anyway), Legion of Super Heroes, and now REBELS, and his revamp for Outsiders sounded a hell of a lot more interesting than what Dixon gave us. I think GLC will be okay.

So is he taking over after the Blackest Night stuff? Or is he onboard now? (GLC that is..)

I may take another peek at the series then..I read a few issues right around the prelude of Blackest Night..and although not bad...I opted not to bite..I was enjoying Nova and REBELS more.

As war breaks out on Rann between the Rannians, the Tamaranians and L.E.G.I.O.N. soldiers, series star Vril Dox shows up with the worst peacekeeping troops imaginable: the Hawkmen of Thanagar! Continuing the acclaimed space adventure from new GREEN LANTERN CORPS writer Tony Bedard!

Sounds good. The Rann/Thanagar conflict had quieted down for a while.

After Blackest Night.

I'm actually tired of the Rann/Thanagar thing. I like DC's cosmic stuff, but I don't like that war being the go-to for interplanetary conflict.

I'm okay with a revisit. Maybe because I didn't actually read the last two Rann/Thanagar-related minis, so pretty much the last I heard of the conflict was Isamot and Vath b****ing about being partners way back in GLC. :)

I didn't read them, either, but I'm tired of the words "Rann/Thanagar war" themselves.

I don't think it's been a full-scale war for a while. More like continued hostilities under the guise of an uneasy peace. They're the Israel and Palestine of DC space.

“The Sons of Brainiac” story begins here! At long last, series star Vril Dox confronts his father, the Superman villain Brainiac! To make matters worse, Vril must also stop his own son Lyrl from destroying their home planet of Colu!

AAAAAAAH, Brainiac fight! :awesome: :awesome: :awesome:

Man, and I was just thinking the other day that I was a bit worried the series might lose direction now that its overarching Starro war story was done.

Straight from the pages of TITANS, Starfire joins our merry band just in time for super-genius Vril Dox to pick up the pieces from last issue's climactic battle with Starro the Conqueror. First on his agenda: rebuild his interplanetary police squad, L.E.G.I.O.N.

On Sale April 21, 2010

Just read that. It was great. Vril Dox is awesome, and the whole universe feels very interconnected in this series. Looking forward to the GLs next issue.

Don't know. Bedard mentioned in an interview that some GL members would definitely show up once Vril gets LEGION up and running again, though. I vaguely recall something about a couple of rookies being assigned to the freshly reopened Vega sector too, which I think was traditionally LEGION turf.

I found it funny that Comet was totally all about leaving because he abhorred Dox's methods and he had to stand by his principles... until Starfire's half-naked, glistening ass showed up. :awesome:

Hahaha yes. That was good.

"Do you like my new badge that is placed over my crotch?"

Starfire is such a tease.

Vril Dox has a good (but very brief) cameo in Adventure comics this week with Brainiac 5, I'd love for them to be written together more.

That would be all the reason I would need to stay
