Oh right, sorry. I thought when they say "First Listen" they mean 'First Review' of a Soundtrack.

Yeah, their first listens tend to have a review of every single track from the CD as well as brief preview clips from most (if not all) of the tracks.

They've done that for Da Vinci Code and M:i:III this summer, hopefully Superman Returns will get the same treatment.

Ah ok, the reason I thought it was just a review is because that was what happened with Batman Begins last year, as well as many other soundtracks.

man this is one short album i mean half of williams scores were like 7 or 8 min long but 3? 3 min? i will admitt im a little disappointed here :(

Yes, the music in the film will certainly be longer. Here's hoping we get an expanded soundtrack at some point. Also, the running time of the CD is not Ottman's fault. I remember him saying that WB only wanted him to have 45 minutes on the disc, and that he was pushing for at least an hour. What we have here looks like a little over 55 minutes.

The reason is because of the unions--it costs soo much to put together a score CD. They have to pay fees to each musician for every minute of music. It's incredibly expensive. Hence why a soundtrack is a bad way to judge a film's score--you never hear it all in its entirety (unless it's a bootleg) and you usually hear cues combined or out of order

soundtrack music has never to do wit hthe lenght of an scene fro mthe movie. they are shortened to fit on the CD.
Actually, they are often Lengthened as Directors and Editor cut the score into movie and sometimes leave out certain aspect of the score.
