Official Street Fighter IV Thread

its dumb....U2 damage nerf, reduced his ability to build super meter, and i believe an overall damage nerf. I guess they felt during play testing Yun and Yang got destroyed 8-2 or something, so Guile had to be trashed

lol. that's ridiculous.

guile was one of the better characters in super, but i don't think any nerfs were warranted at all.

Guile's spin kick doesn't expose his hurtbox as much on startup, but got damage nerfed, and word is it still loses out to many moves. Sonic Booms build half the amount of meter they used to, not including unspecified changes to meter gain throughout his move list. Also, his spin knuckle plus all Flash Kick strengths are damage nerfed, and his Sonic Hurricane is both damage nerfed and has slower startup.

8 nerfs altogether, with a hurtbox adjustment for a useless move. I get why they did it, but they went too far. He's the reverse of Makoto in AE; no buffs, only nerfs.

Arcade Edition's out. Anyone else play it?

Bought it yesterday. The balance changes are funny and sad at the same time. Some of it makes sense if they don't want overly safe options in the game, and I like how the worst characters have tools for success now. But what are Honda, Guile, and Rose players supposed to do against the twins? Adding two characters who sail past zoning in a game already re-balanced to favor rushdown is crazy, and making them the best is crazier. I'd like them if they weren't such a free win.

On a happier note, I like how Oni and the (small) buffs to Guy worked out. Evil Ryu would be fun if they didn't take away the gamble of Akuma's style in favor of...well, nothing.

my brother bought it this week but ive only barely played it, and probably even less so now that i got infamous 2. it was a little confusing with the welcome screen talking switching between regular and Arcade Ed. and i freaked out the first time i played AE online and i saw my ranking was at 0.

are there any new editions to the offline component? New modes?

wait.........the game's out already? in the US?

Yun is absurdly easy to play and good

I like the Hakan buffs :woot:

got to play some Mak too. Ex. Hayate as an armor breaker is gdlk

hey guys.

I just picked up the retail version for the PS3.

When I started playing, every time I got to the VS. screen, the game would "freeze." I see the Street Fighter IV Arcade logo spinning, but the VS screen just stays there. I waited for about 1 or 2 minutes, and nothing happens; my match won't load.

This happened first in the Training Mode, then in the regular Arcade mode against the CPU.

Has this happened to anyone else with the retail version? How about the 360 version?

ok.............did some more research on the matter and found the source and solution of the problem.

it seems if you have Super Street Fighter IV data installed, it will conflict with the Arcade Edition and cause the freezing issues.

I deleted my Super Street Fighter IV data from my PS3, and it fixed the problem.

don't know if this applies to the 360 as well........

so all is good now...........lol

^I support this, the same happened to me with the PS3 retail version of AE and resolved the issues just doing that. Just make sure to delete the installed data of SSF4, its contained in the "Game date utility" folder in the PS3 menu, don't confuse this with deleting your "save data" from SSF4, that you should not delete at all and its actually used by AE disc.

Edit:

Didn't realize you already resolved your issue, cool :)

^ yeah, for a bit there, I was pretty disheartened and ready to return the game for an exchange. I was even considering exchanging it for the 360 version.

but, I decided to look online and see if others had the same problem.

I'm glad I did!

I don't know about the DLC version, but on my AE disc I have spotted some weird stuff on transparencies, like the twins comand dash, the effect looks weird, kinda pixelated, at first I didnt give much thought to it since those are new characters, but then I saw Ibuki's command dash and her faint shadow had that similar pixelated look wich was nothing like that in regular Super as far as I remember (it had a much subtler and smoother look). Not a complain really but it just caught my attention.

Edited to clarify, this is PS3 version.

was there anything added to the offline portion? Like game modes or features?

Not really, the 4 new characters don't even have trials, pretty much every new feature has to do with the online and replay channels and all that stuff. Also, the only cosmetic difference betwen the disc version of AE and DLC version is that the title screen from disc version reads "Arcade Edition" (even the anouncer says it) just like in the Arcades. I was kinda surprised that the retail version included a full color manual too, I know Capcom did the same thing with SF4 and SSF4 but I somehow thought they would drop the ball for AE, glad they didn't (I am the kind of person that values that sort of stuff lol)

I've been reading/hearing reports that the PS3 version has more "input lag" than the 360 version.

is there any truth to that?

For the life of me, I swear I can't notice it, but is true, there are several videos on the net with people proving that, and the result is that PS3 version of Super (and AE by logic) is 2 frames behind 360 and Arcade version, all of this offline, that means that on PS3 your attacks come out two frames after 360 when you finished pressing buttons, again its somehing I can't notice.

yeah..........I saw some of those videos, too. On the vids, you can see a difference.

But, when I play on my PS3, for the life of me, I really can't tell or notice any lag.

ok.........so I had the chance to try this out on the 360.

wow! The 360's dpad is really "loose" compared to the PS3. I found myself having a hard time with uppercut type inputs, and I was jumping all over the place.....

are there any alternate 360 controllers that have dpads better suited for fighting games?

Yes, there is a grey-ish controller with a transforming D-pad, its an official Microsoft controller not a third party one, the D-Pad can be adjusted to either disc o cross form.

thanks.

yeah, I read some reviews on that and some ppl say the d-pad can actually fall out! Plus, it costs $60-70.

I'll also look into the "Versus" pads that have the 6 face buttons.........
