Am I the only one who thought that Hamell won that fight?

Not at all. That was a real hometown decision, and Bisping at best won one round in that fight. Even that is stretching it. He was getting backed up and outworked for the entire duration.

Henderson also deserved the decision, I thought. I thought, I must be on a different planet than Couture, Rogan, and the judges, because going into that fifth round they were acting like Henderson had no chance of winning a decision, and by my count the fight was at two rounds a piece by then, and the fifth round certainly went to Dan.

Wow! can't belive i fell asleep on the Rampage fight! I take it he won. And Bispings fight was certainly a fluke. The take downs count for numerous scores on the score card, and he was taking Bisping down at will.

Poor Cro-Cop. I'm sure this second lose in a row is really getting to him. But once again, he looked out of his element in the octogon. I guesseveryone has their time. Wanderlei Silva being knocked out by Henderson was surely un-expected for me.

No, that decision was a joke and Bisping is an ass. Hamell completely controlled that fight, and Bisping at most won the third round. I mean one judge gave Hamell all three rounds and the other two gave Bisping two. Obviously the two were British judges or had no clue what they were doing.

Hopefully Hammell gets a rematch at some point and destroys Bisping.

The Rampage v. Henderson fight was a decent fight and the decision could have went either way. Neither one really separated themselves from the other, the fight could have went either way.

The Cro-Cop fight was a bore, and Cro-Cop has completely lost his drive to fight. Congo isn't that great of a fighter, he's very one-dimensional, Couture would destroy him.

The first fight was a complete mauling, Houston Alexander again imposes his will in less then a minute. The guy is an animal

And, saving the best fight for last... The Irish Hand Grenade, Marcus Davis, continues to improve his MMA skills and showed a great deal of heart. Getting absolutely rocked by a head kick and then ate about ten hammer fists, but keep composed and reversed Taylor to his back and reigned down punches. Davis finished it with a slick arm bar after losing mount towards the end of the first round.

Cro Cop has become really lame. I'm not sure if Congo is next for Randy but I smell another surefire win for him. Gonzaga is easily a better fighter than Congo and he got a beat down. I thought the Henderson, Rampage fight was pretty good but looked more like a draw. Every judge had Rampage winning unamiously which was just silly.

My favorite fight of the night.

i cant believe the judges gave bisping the fight..he was gettin handled from start to finish...what a joke

I used to like Bisping, but his attitude last night made him stink. He didn't even show sportmanship and go over and shake Matts hand. I know Matt had sopposedly been calling him out, but sportmanship is sportsmanship. Even BJ Penn and Pulver shook hands after their last fight, BJ being the one who initiated the comradery; and those guys hated each other.

Couple random thoughts, regarding Bisping and Hammill. Although I definately thought it was a bad decision, it doesn't seem that it was just a matter of corrupt judges or hometown cooking, because I saw online play by plays like Sherdog.com's that had Bisping winning two rounds to one. Strange but true, seems like some people genuinely believe The Count won that fight.

Second, I wonder what the deal with Hammill's ring entrance was. In case you don't know, he came out to "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen. I know this sounds like a bad joke, but I wonder if he picked that out himself? I mean, did he just read the title or something? Reason I say so is because, coming in to fight a popular English fighter in London, the choice of song would seem to have been calculated as a patriotic gesture by the American fighter. Thing is, despite what the title and catchy tune would lead you to believe "Born in the USA" is anything but a patriotic song if you just listen to, or read, the lyrics.

Of course, I don't think the crowd listened to the lyrics either, because they were booing it quite a bit.

I'm starting to dislike English fans. My pop told me that once when Marvin Hagler beat one of their hometown guys up, the crowd started throwing stuff.

I'm 3 for 3! :D Kinda wish I was wrong about the Bisping part though :( Hamil really should have got the decision. I hope Hamil gets a rematch & finishes Bisping off in the 1st round. I hope Bisping gets KOed in his next fight. Congo fought a good fight. Rampage & Henderson had a very good & close fight & I'm glad Rampage won.

I usually like Bisping but he didn't deserve the win last night. He only won because the fight's in his homeland. Matt was robbed. Bisping didn't do much to get that win. I want a rematch and I was to see Hamill destroy Bisping. :csad:

I've heard so much about about Cro Cop... about how good is 'supposedly' is. Maybe at Pride he is/was (I don't watch much Pride) but the last 2 fights I've seen him fought... not impressed.

Marcus Davis... he da man!

The main event, that was a good fight. Very close and enjoyable to watch and I'm not too disappointed with the result.

Watched the Bisping fight again. He looked better this time. He really only got absolutely dominated the 1st round. The others were kinda close.

You should check out some Cro Cop highlight videos on youtube to see what he's really about. He's a great fighter. Or at least he was once. :(

I've always liked Bisping as well, but the way he carried himself after the fight (especially during the press conference)...well, I really lost a lot of respect for him. Dana says he's on it for a Bisping/Hamill rematch and I hope Matt kills him to win it.

Cro Cop really was a monster back in K-1 and PRIDE. But he hasn't really been the same since he got dominated by Fedor. Ever since then, people who have fought him have been using the same game plan against him that Fedor used: push the action, keep him from setting up, and never let him get comfortable.
Cro Cop's never been a good counter-striker, and when he's the one back-peddling he tends to get frustrated. Which was seen this past weekend against Kongo.

Couple this and the fact that Mirko has always had a tendency to take certain opponents lightly and under-prepare (Gonzaga, Randleman), and I think this is the end of Cro Cop's career as a HW. He should see the same sports shrink GSP went to the get his head back on straight, and try and move down to the LHW division.
As it stands now I don't see Zuffa paying him over a quarter mil for lower card fights, which is all he's going to get now. So him being let go wouldn't shock me either.

Marcus Davis... he da man!

He really won me over with that match. He took one hell of a shot from Taylor and was able to recover and not only reverse position, but pull off the submission of the night with the armbar too. Definitely showed alot of heart in the victory.
I'd love to see him get a shot at some tougher competition, like BJ Penn.

Truthfully, I like both fighters, so I was happy with the outcome. Though I had money on 'Page, so it was sweet to see him win. :D

Now it's time for Shogun to step up and beat Rampage's ass for the title.

75 was okay. What was wrong with Cro Cop? He needs to rethink what he's doing and step his game up if he wants a shot at the title. He did good in the first round, and he was taking shots to the balls, so I can understand that, but I thought he would crush Kongo.

The main event was alright, I expected more. I thought Henderson won, but whatever.

My predictions for 76, Liddell takes out Jardine, I want Forrest to win over Shogun, but thats kinda doubtful. And I want Fitch to beat Sanchez.

I think Mirko just needs to go see a sports shrink and take a few months off to re-collect himself.
I still think his future is in LHW, but I doubt he'd consider trying to drop the weight. Still, he could once again become a dominate force in the LHW division where he'd actually be the bigger fighter the majority of the time.

I figure he'll probably give it one more go at HW though. Maybe give him a shot at Frank Mir or what not. Somebody he has a better chance against to build his fractured confidence back up.

And Forrest beating Shogun is definitely doubtful, near to damn impossible. Not saying he doesn't have a chance, because anything can happen. Especially since Shogun will not be able to use his stomps or soccor kicks, which were a big part of his game in PRIDE.
On the other hand though, Shogun + elbows = watch the **** out. :wow:

I can't wait for Shogun. He's one of my favorite fighters, and I have a feeling he's gonna crush Forrest and eventually take that title off of Rampage.

Hell, I can't wait for him and Wand to make their debut. Chute Boxe gonna tear **** up.

Also, good match coming up this Saturday on EliteXC. Murilo "Ninja" Rua is taking on Robbie Lawler in a MW unification bout between EliteXC and ICON.

Also on the card is who I think is an underrated veteran, Nick Diaz.

Should be some good action. Really looking forward to seeing Diaz in action again after he beat Gomi.

i usually dont watch this but man, i watched it last night cause nothing else was on and ufc is pretty cool

Sherdog.com just updated its rankings for the month of September. For my money, the best rankings available on the internet, although I disagree with a choice or two in their most recent changes.

http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=8942&my_page=1

Things are busy at heavyweight following Couture and Kongo's wins in the last two events,
1.Fedor Emelianenko
2. Randy Couture (Up from #6)
3. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Down from #2)
4. Josh Barnett (Up from #5)
5. Gabriel Gonzaga (Down from #3)
6. Tim Sylvia
7. Andrei Arlovski
8. Fabricio Werdum
9. Cheick Kongo (Added to list)
10 Mirko Filipovic (Down from #3)
(Aleksander Emelianenko dropped from #10)

Light Heavyweight
1. Mauricio Rua
2. Quinton Jackson
3. Chuck Liddell (up from #4)
4. Dan Henderson (down from #3)
5. Wanderlei Silva
6. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
7. Ricardo Arona
8. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
9. Rashad Evans
10. Jason Lambert

Here's the decision making I don't like. Liddell is ranked ahead of Dan Henderson, even though they both lost their last fight to the the same man, difference being that Henderson lost a close decision where Liddell was stopped in the first round, and while Henderson knocked out #5 (Wanderlei Silva) on the list this year, Liddell's two fights before his loss to Jackson were both against fighters that were barely (Babalu) or not at all (Ortiz) in the top ten. Basically, I don't see how Henderson losing a decision to Jackson improves Liddell's standing at all.
I also think that, with Shogun's relative inactivity against top competition in the past two years, and Rampage's unprecedented success so far this year, there's an argument for having these two men switch places on the list.

Those are solid ratings and I agree with everything you said. I'd put Rampage at #1 until Shogun starts up again.

Personally, I don't see Sylvia as a top ten heavyweight, though that may just be my bias because I really, really don't like him. :o
