I'm beginning to think that Storm's big phobia this time around is a fear of the dark. Which is perfectly legitimate, but it's been about three years since that sub-plot came about, I want the rest of that story.

Had I known about this little tidbit before, I would have picked up this issue a long time ago. I'm referring to Bishop's conversation about Bobby's potential.... Now only if there will be a follow up to this conversation, I'd start picking this book up again on a regular basis.

^My last post in the Iceman thread was exactly that...but nobody responded :woot:

This was brought up before? Can you explain?

Kirkman's Gary Stu-ism has made me hate U-Iceman when I used to kinda like the guy.

I agree... I was a devout follower of this book when it came out. Now you couldn't give this book to me for free.... Not after they butchered Bobby's character to nothing more than page filler.

^Come to think of it, it's sort of happened to a few of them: Ororo, Bobby, Rogue, etc.

You dropped the book because of ONE character?

This book has really been improving. I'm curious to see where it goes over the next year. I think when there are too many characters, a book gets watered down. Now though, with Bishop possibly forming a team, my hopes are really high.

Yeah - this Bishop is not a man born in a far off future like the 616. He exists as a teenager in the here and now, so the white haired one is that teenager's future self from 30 or 40 years down the line.

Which is exactly the sort of thing the Ultimate line was created to get away from. Kirkman is seriously screwing things up; he's already permenently ruined three characters for me and made this book my least favorite of the X-titles. Frankly, I'm not sure it can be saved without an immediate change in thecreative team and a few retcons.

aah ok, thnx

...I'd drop the book for the decimation of one character.

But not Bobby.

Though I was tempted after Gambit.

Thank you, for I adore SPOCK. LOL.

...shud up! I'm ignoring the destruction of Rogue's character for the moment.

DO NOT SHATTER MY DELUSIONS.

The last two issues have been surprisingly good IMO.

Aww, both of you shud up.

They screwed over my Rogue, and I do appreciate (DAMN YOU CANCAN FOR MAKING ME REALIZE THIS).

I don't place my entire interest in the book on one character.

Which is why I'm still reading after that **** they did to Rogue. And to Gambit.

I like the different take. Its the Ultimate Universe, why make Rogue act like the Rogue we know in the core universe? Shake it up, do the twist.

:confused::up:

But the thing is, they're not twisting or changing anything. For all intents and purposes they've just taken all the 616 characters, made them extremely bithcy, and called it "The Ultimate Universe."

Ultimate X-Men, as a whole, has been a travesty in my eyes. They had a chance to do something new, original. Instead, we're getting hacked up plot lines from the 616 Universe. Hell, we're even getting the same kind of character conflicts! Ultimate didn't create its own universe, it just ripped off another one. Poorly.

They had the freedom to do a lot of original stuff, and they blew it.

All the characters have been sucking for a while now, but the book as a whole is getting better, which is why I'm still keeping on.

I also feel the book would benefit from a better artist.
